I have stayed at many Marriot hotels and have always enjoyed Residence Inns --except for this one. This is a relatively new building and in a great neighborhood so I was very disappointed in this visit. We had a one bedroom suite which was spacious but the room was not cleaned well. There were plastic rings on the floor by the bed, as well as dirt and lint in corners and behind furniture. When I cleaned the kitchen countertop edges, the paper towel was blackish. The shower doors showed water marks from previous use. Nothing major but indicative of a "slap and dash" job. When the hotel emphasizes it's high cleaning standard, this does not hold true! We were there for four days and did not receive any housekeeping at any time. I understand housekeeping is only on Wednesday and Sunday, but I think it may be time to increase that. It is very frustrating to have to continually ask for coffee and cleaning supplies from the front desk. And it is not very appealing to see bags of garbage sitting in the hallways! We had breakfast our first morning and it was very minimal. No condiments, no toast, no waffles, only prepackaged muffins, which my husband does not like. We wouldn't eat there again. (go to Bridgette's Cafe - great food! And it's only a couple of blocks away.) In reading the other reviews I see these are fairly standard complaints. I do hope other Residence Inns are not following these procedures. It's time to change!

So, yes, I read the reviews before we went about cleaning. We chose this hotel and not one closer to St Cloud because of the breakfast and the MIX during the week. Right on the ad on Tripadvisor it says BREAKFAST INCLUDED. We use Marriott a lot. We have a Marriott timeshare and own Marriott desinations. The first issue was regarding reservations on points, where even though we are married, the point are in hubbies name and I am the usual traveler. The girl my husband called to straighten this out AT THE HOTEL IN WAITE PARK, canceled the original reservations and placed new ones. I capitalize that because when we were there (for a week) I asked the manager and she insisted that they DO NOT do that. So, the BREAKFAST was not the usual. It was Marriott's rules that "fruit that has to be peeled" per the manager. Frozen prepackaged breakfast sandwiches, packets of cocoa...you get the picture. On the doors of the usual breakfast place, it said it was closed 'per order of the state of Minnesota'. I asked about that also...it WAS the case, they just didn't change the signs. It stayed like that all week. We went to the grocery and got our own breakfast. After the first night, they cleaned our room (on Sunday). Then the did not the next day or the next. I went to the manager and asked why. They only clean on Sunday and Wednesday, which means you run out of toilet paper, your trash is overflowing, you have only one dishwasher tablet, and not enough coffee pods. The paper goods are of the lowest quality I have ever seen. Trust me, I blew my nose. As this is a usual longer term stay hotel, there is a kitchen and should have been a useful amount of plates, glasses, mugs, maybe a bowl...not good there either. Two people three glasses no cleaning no dishwasher pod. So here is the bottom line. People make choices of hotels on amenities. If you don't have to eat elsewhere, it is a benefit that makes that hotel better. I could have stayed in St Cloud at a Marriott and I would have been closer to where I needed to be. Oh, did I mention that a few weeks ago my husband stayed in a NC Marriott and had full breakfast and CUTUP fresh fruit? Cleaning....yes, not too spiffy. Example: The same grubby handprints were in the elevator doors all week...oh, and those elevators make a horrendous noise during travel.

Hello Pat L, Thank you so much for taking the time to fill out a survey for the Residence Inn St. Cloud. On behalf of the hotel I apologize for falling short of your expectations. You are correct Tripadvisor does state we have breakfast, However with COVID-19 that limited all the breakfast options as you may know. When we spoke in person we discovered that reservations canceled your reservation and not us on property level. You are correct we can't check someone in under a different name that's a security issue, but your husband is more then welcomed to call and add your name to the reservation. We are simply following Marriott rules for breakfast and the state of Minnesota. Minnesota just opened up fully on July 1st. We do stay over service on Sundays and Wednesdays to protect our staff from COVID. You are more then welcome to call down as per stated on the notice at Front Desk to request items and have garbage taken out. I am glad your husband enjoyed the NC Marriott that of course is a different state with different guidelines. Thank you again for taking the time to leave a review of our hotel. We hope to see you again in the future. Thank you again for choosing to stay with us while you were in town. Sincerely, Bre Disrud General Manager

I feel like I should give 3 stars, but I'm a positive person and want to give the benefit of the doubt! For a one-night quick stay, overall, we had a good stay. The room was spacious, our floor was quiet, bed was comfy, and it was nice to have a Keurig with provided K-cups in our room for the morning. Shower pressure was nice and we had great Paul Mitchell toiletries to use too! I am no hotel or hospitality industry expert, but I just feel like this hotel could do better. It has such potential with its stunning design and features! My main issue was that we walked in to our room and noticed there were numerous dried rose petals leftover on the floor by our bed ... not hidden at all. In plain sight too, there was a bobby pin and chunks of plastic. So either housekeeping's vacuum is super weak or they straight up didn't vacuum our room. Either way, not a good thing. (See pics) Our bathroom was clean, but you could tell it wasn't fully sanitized as it could have been. The top of our toilet had dust and hairs on top, the shower door had hair product goo on it, and the floor looked like it had been dusted, but not mopped. You know how you "just know" when there's been a quick clean of something and not an intentional, detailed clean? Not deal breakers for us. But it makes you question what IS truly clean (especially in times of COVID) when obvious things are not taken care of. The entry way mats were dirty and all the visible garbages in the lobby were maxed out. Had to wait a while in the morning to have a staff come to the front desk for check out. It's little things like that, that overtime, may have a bigger impact on the hotel. I hope they can pay attention to these details and have a successful future!

The hotel was very quiet, even though a group of kids were staying there with a basketball team, I never heard them in my room. Why is the front door locked at all times? Covid 19 I guess. Room was nice. The hotel is nice and fairly new. The bathroom had a previous occupant's hair left behind. YUCK!! There was also some funk around the edge of the shower basin. Either the water is very hard, or there is some funky junk going on in the bathroom. I also found old wrappers in the shower. Gross. See attached pictures. I understand travelers are fewer and staff is light, but cleanliness should not be sacrificed. Finally, the shower head flowed in a conical shape AROUND my head, hitting my shoulders. The low flow, water conservation, adapter on the shower allowed for terribly low water pressure.

Good Morning Poised_Traveler_Bob, We always appreciate the review and feedback on the hotel. We do keep the main doors locked at all times due to Covid-19 it helps us manage who comes in and out to limit traffic through the lobby area and its just a precaution for our staff and guest staying in hotel. I am so sorry you encountered those issues during your stay. I will make sure to pass that information to our Chief Engineer and Executive Housekeeper, so we can make sure these issues don't happen again in the future. We hope you give us another chance next time you come through town. Warmest Regards, Jesse McArthur Assistant General Manager

My husband had a bad MTB accident at Caujuna and had to be transported to St Cloud via ambulance. He spent 2 days in the hospital with surgery & then we stayed at the Residence Inn 5 nights for him to recouperate before heading back to Texas. Jesse helped me extend our reservation and have a first floor room near the exit got my husband and dog. The maid was great to bring towels when I called and exchange with me so he could sleep all day! They were so nice and accommodating! I would definitely recommend this hotel!!!
