This is a relatively small hotel in a remote area, but it is a delightful place to stay. It is on Whitefish Bay (Lake Superior) and has spectacular views. Even if your room doesn't face the lake, you can still watch the sunrise from the beach, the deck, or the breakfast area.

Do all of the "view" rooms have a balcony? Or is it just a lake view from inside the room?
The rooms on the lowest floors have a small patio....the upper two floors have small balconies. Very nice views from anywhere but the balconies are rain protected so you can sit out even in a shower and view the marvelous view of the bay.

is the waterfront accessible, as in swimming friendly?
No, there is no beach. Staircase to water drops into water a few feet deep, and there are large boulders along the shoreline.
