We travelled as a family of four, children 5 and 7 yrs old. We stayed here 3 nights on a half board basis. First impression of this hotel from the outside was wow this is not bad at all. Beautiful location right in front of the sea, very close to the town centre but still away enough to get some quiet moments also. We got a two bedroom suite, which was really nice sized, very comfortable, two bathrooms, a fridge and a nice big balcony on a 3rd floor with an awesome view!! No kettle in the room or tea/coffee making facilities, but that was expected for a 3*. Furniture in the room (and generally in hotel) is really old, but it didn't bother us, since we knew what to expect. And to tell you the truth, we were quite positively surpriced. The only thing that is really negative about this hotel is food. I am not picky, but that food was really not eatable. If you choose this hotel, take bed&breakfast only. Dinner is not worth the money. Staff is really nice and kind, especially roommades on 3rd floor. All in all if you visit Vis, there aren't many hotels to choose from. Our first choise was another, 4* hotel, but children under 12 years can't stay there, that is why we chose Issa. I would recommend Issa hotel to anyone that needs a decent hotel near centre of town for a normal price. If you expect luxury, go somewhere else. We spent a really nice holiday there and would like to come back. We would choose Issa again.

I have just returned from a stay at this hotel and, having read previous reviews, was wondering what i had let myself in for. However, I was pleasantly surprised by this little gem of a hotel and what it had to offer. My room offered a beautiful view of Vis bay, it was picture perfect, we had air conditioning, which was fully functioning and easy to use, even for my techno phobe partner, Simon. The bathroom had a shower that was as powerful as any jet wash and a well used toilet. The drainage smell was a bit much for me but Simon didn’t mind it. The beds were comfortable and easily pushed together and there were ample hangers in the wardrobe, including the old fashioned wooden ones! The bar had an amazing variety and stock of most drinks, both local and international and the barman was very pleasant and polite and always laughing. We only ate at the restaurant in the morning and it was fine. The selection was reasonable, including eggs both boiled and fried, cheese and ham, bread and yogurt. The coffee was nice and strong and kept me awake all day, and there was even Tetley tea bags and HP sauce there, if you knew where to look!! The lobby was large and spacious and we even had someone playing the piano one night, which was nice. The location was ideal with easy access to the town and local bars and there were plenty of taxis available outside the hotel, Joe (the local tour guide) always sorted these out for us. The beach opposite was clean and the water was crystal clear and there was plenty of swimming and diving off the jetty, which was really fun to watch. The only downside that i can think off was someone had been a bit ill at the bottom of the stairs, but this was cleaned up immediately by the helpful staff. Apart from that i was pleasantly surprised by our stay here and Simon and I are considering staying here next year with our motorcycle club.

This is like a Soviet hotel for low grade party members. The staff is kind and helpful. It is clean. The food is edible. But it is ugly and cold. The water across the street is astoundingly clear and swimmable. It is great as an inexpensive bed in a very beautiful place.

If you're not a fan of private accommodations, such as apartments, and prefer the comfort of hotels, you'll find limited options on the picturesque island of Vis. Hotel Issa stands as the lone hotel in town, proudly offering a 3-star experience. While some foreign tourists may not fully embrace the nostalgic charm this hotel exudes, its exceptional cleanliness, breakfast variety, prime location, and, most notably, its attractive pricing make it a smart choice. Opting for Hotel Issa over a potentially overpriced apartment with numerous rules and hidden costs is a wise decision.

Honestly before arriving in Hotel Issa we didn't have high expectations since there are very few informations to find on internet. It is a bit older hotel but nevertheless everything else was simply perfect. Rooms were clean and spacious, breakfast and dinner were delecious and food choice was really good for 3 star hotel. Location is great, since everything you need is on max 15 min walk and nice beach is right accross the hotel. Hotel service was also very nice and very friendly. Highly recommended!

This hotel should be avoided at all costs.

Firstly....they charged us $40 USD per night extra for having 2 people (even though that's what we booked). Absolutely criminal. So we cancelled the rest of our stay and only stayed one night.

Next.....this hotel is NOT worth $130+ USD per night. It is a creepy, sad, cement, very soviet style dreary architecture. No character. The breakfast was gross cold cuts and sour cream and bread (not toast).

ONLY stay here if you must (like us....we arrived at 11:30pm on the ferry, so we needed a 24 hour front desk). But the apartments we stayed in after were SOOOO much better.

I've seen the other reviews and do agree that this hotel isn't the most modern in Dalmatia. Neither does it have all the swanky facilities that a lot of today's travellers expect. However, when it comes to friendliness and willingness to help, I can't name a better one in the region. The rooms are clean, comfortable and more than adequate; the shower facilities (etc) are very good. I'm not sure what else is needed!? I will go to the Issa every time I visit Vis.

As the title says, this is a hotel that's very much typical for the era it was built in, which is to say the 1980s, with very few of the later-era amenities, apart from very spotty wi-fi. It most definitely has its charm, and some of it looks nice - I have a soft spot for places like this, the absolutely-not-for-people-with-special-needs staircase entrance, the classic '80s entrance/lounge with a piano, the slightly dated look of everything. No magnet cards here, just a regular key, the functional, but slightly cramped bathroom and rooms, no fridge, small tv perhaps that we didn't even bother to turn on. Comfortable beds, a little balcony - luckily, we took over most of the hotel, but it might be awkward for some to know that a) someone could easily and pretty safely walk from their balcony to yours & b) that the sound carries just slightly too well between walls. No extra features in the regular rooms. Okay but slightly distant service - though it might be understandable as the hotel's apparently not in a great situation financially. Solid but mostly very much basic breakfast. The beach's just a stone's throw from the hotel, which is definitely a plus. It's not that far from the town center, but it can get a bit annoying if you have to walk to the Kut area of the town - but that's generally the fault of the town's layout. It's an okay place, I just hope it gets the investment and the makeover / touch-up it desperately needs. Vis deserves more.

I have stayed at the hotel Issa for two weeks with my friends. We had two rooms on the second floor with the sea view and a real terrace with plastic table and two plastic chairs. Both rooms had air-condition system, TV set, bathroom with shower, toilet and hair-drier.
Hotel is an older one, but it was renovated partially. Room furniture is modest, but everything was very clean, because rooms were cleaned everyday and towels were changed on daily basis.
Breakfast was self-served and you could find something for everyone: tea and coffee, apple, blueberry and orange juice, scrambled ad boiled eggs, jam and honey, butter, yogurt, salami, cheese, fruits.
Dinner is served from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m., and it was really good, like home cooked meals.
There is no possibility to have lunch at the hotel.
Hotel has internet connection at the hall, and nice terrace were you can have a drink.
Just opposite the hotel is a nice beach, concrete and pebble beach with pines so you can sit away from the sun if you want. You can also rent a sunbed.
Hotel is about 10 minutes away from the center of the Vis town.
Hotel staff in nice and friendly.
I will stay there again.

If you want to enjoy holidays on Vis island I strongly suggest you NOT to stay at this hotel.
1. Hotel is old, not clean and needs a lot of repair
2. Rooms are small, furniture is old, you can smell smoke of cigarettes, curtains are old and dirty. They gave us only 2 !! towels (one normal sized and one small), both were stained, we noticed gray/black spots on them, hopefully it was not a mould
3. Breakfast is terrible, only the sunny side egg were eatable, there were almost no fruit, juice was watery and made of syrup. Croissants were dry, and not fresh, etc..
4. Staff at the reception desk is unfriendly, they keep your documents, passport and don’t take care of them properly. One could easily take them away, they store them right behind the booth.
5. Only good thing is a sea view from the balcony. Balcony is spacious, however , you can easily step on the other neighboring balcony because there is no fence and thus no intimacy. The walls of the room are thin, and you can hear noise from other rooms. Doors are old fashioned and don’t seal properly....
6. And finally, the price.... we payed 130€ for one night stay at this hotel 😟

So, avoid this hotel if possible... 😏 It deserves 1* or -2* max!
