My husband and I visited this hotel on Feb 01 – Feb 03, 2023. We stayed in the main building in room 103 (suite). Our overall impression is not very good. This place was recommended to us by good friends whose taste we trust. Apparently, a lot has changed since they last visited Kombornia. On arrival, we were greeted by Ms Tatiana who was nice but not very welcoming. She failed to inform us that we must get the slippers directly from the reception, and that a/c which heats the bedroom in suite 103 is not working properly. Due to this fact, we spent our first night there in a very noisy bedroom which felt like a jet-plane interior. It was very hard to sleep in these conditions. On Day 2, we learnt that one can ask the reception to turn the a/c off remotely, and as a result, we spent our second night there in a cold bedroom. Certainly not a 4-star standard – and I mean both the technical side, and the communication side of things. (BTW The slippers were delivered to our room on Day 2 because after all, they weren’t available from the reception.) On Day 2, the room wasn’t cleaned when we were out and about in the morning. I had to ask the reception to have the room cleaned upon our return, and it happened later in the afternoon. Also, not a 4-star standard. The room was OK, with pretty (albeit a bit worn) furniture. Unfortunately, it was too dark – there are only two little windows in suite 103. The bathroom was OK, but even more worn than the room. The big bath-tub, seemingly for two, in fact accommodates only one a half persons ;-) The dining area. Since there’s not one common dining-room but several small dining-rooms, the waiting staff doesn’t see the guests immediately, and so sometimes the guests have to report to the waiter if they want to be served. Bizarre… The menu – OK for meat eaters, however not sufficient for vegetarians and vegans. (Fortunately, the desserts were delicious.) The weirdest-tasting tea – I had the first pot sent back to the kitchen because it smelled funny. The one that arrived later smelled exactly the same – it was undrinkable. Breakfast. Very lacking. Poor choice of everything – breads (no rolls or buns of any sort!), few cold cuts, even fewer hard cheeses. No cold milk on the buffet, one has to ask for it. Very poor choice of cereal – four divisions and only three types of cereal plus the spoons are IN the divisions, so everyone has to put their fingers into the cereal if they want to help themselves. Unhygienic! SPA. The only part that was 4-star. Both my husband and I were happy with the treatments we got. Swimming pool. Open to the public, can get crowded (also with kids.) Strange design, with a bridge half-way. Generally, very cramped, with too many loungers on one side (the only side) of the pool, as the other one is against the wall. All in all, not very inviting. To sum it up, a 3-star experience at best. Nothing special, certainly not luxurious. A regular family spot, good for families, not so good for couples. The park must be beautiful in summer, but in winter, it’s very depressing. Plus, the location: too close to a road (noise). …
