This has to be amongst the top 3 of my favorite resort stays.
We spent 3 days at Maya Ubud as the 2nd part of an 8 day Bali vacation. ( the first 5 spent at a beach resort ).
We chose Maya Ubud Resort and Spa for its location in a typical forest setting surrounded by rice plantations as we wanted to experience nature and the freshness of a lush environment.
It was difficult making a choice as there are so many beautiful boutique and unique hotels in the Ubud area but Maya was perfect. The hotel and grounds are beautiful with a contemporary Balinese design enhancing the tastefullness and luxury as well as the natural and green setting.
The resort has deluxe rooms in the main building and stand alone villas but most of these were under renovation during December and will be for a few months .Our Deluxe room was however very comfortable, spacious, new and modern with walkout access to the restaurants and ampitheatre . Apart from a bit of drilling sounds the renovations were so discrete and didnt interfere with our experience .There are 2 infinity pools as well as a modern state of the art Gym and wellness centre where yoga is offered daily amongst other activities such as rice field walks and mountain bike tours. There is a river flowing through the property along which guests can walk down to the River cafe at the spa and jungle infinity pool. A pathway and elevator also takes one down to the spa area and there is a lovely wooden deck pathway along the river. This was our favorite part of the resort
and we languished at the poolside amongst tall trees some growing down into the valley ,bubbling brooks and the sounds of numerous forest creatures. It was like Eden.
The spa comprised of individual rooms overlooking the river and is a must do .Buggy carts are available to take guests from Lobby to spa area.
The restaurants are open and airy serving a healthy breakfast and a la carte menus for Lunch and dinner as well as complimentary tea and treats every afternoon .I must mention Hathirri and Packu for their very good service daily at the restaurants. Food presentation and taste was excellent.
Shuttle service runs throughout the day into the main market, arts and craft streets and restaurant area of Ubud which is 7 minutes away and so convenient. Miss the bus ...and there are numerous taxis available to drive you back to Maya Resort .
The staff were so friendly and on Christmas eve a choir sang carols as guests were entertained in the main Bar lounge with drinks and treats .
The entire ambience of this resort was one of peace, nature ,relaxation and luxury. We wish we could have stayed longer .
My only regret was that we could not get to see nor upgrade to a villa due to the renovations but the deluxe rooms were very spacious and comfortable with state of the art finishes.
I will highly recommend Maya Ubud resort and Spa.

Dear zabo, Thank you very much for 3 night stay at Maya Ubud. Your detailed review is quite interesting with various experiences at the resort and also at the downtown Ubud. Indeed at present, 28 villas are still under refurbishment. They will be accomplished in April this year. As the resort is large, the working scene is hidden from the guest areas. However sometimes noise was heard at the main swimming pool. I am delighted to learn you like the nature and green environment. It is a pleasure to know many aspects of the resort surpassed your expectation. We truly appreciate your recommendation of the resort and your compliment to our service team, including Hartini and Parka at the restaurant. Our pride is to make you fell in love with Maya and to serve you even better on your next stay. Our warmest welcome will always await for your return. Sincerely, Romy Anggara Resort Manager

My husband and I were so excited to stay here for our 25th wedding anniversary and were not disappointed. We were given a refreshing cocktail and a cold towel on arrival and told our room had been upgraded to a corner suite 😊😊 which was fabulous and had everything you could need. The hotel is beautiful and spotlessly clean , the staff are wonderful, helpful, polite and friendly the pools are absolutely breathtaking and stunning views all around. We stayed on a bed & breakfast basis and there is plenty to choose from for breakfast, we did order a pizza from the pool menu which was super tasty 😊. The shuttle service into Ubud is a great touch as it’s quite a walk and again the staff are very helpful in giving directions ect if you don’t know where your going. We would ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND to anyone thinking of booking the Maya Ubud. Thankyou Maya Ubud you made our anniversary so special and we will be back

Many may have doubts to stay in an aging resort especially during the pandemic. Let me tell you, Maya Ubud is excel with their service even during this challenging time.
Room is perfect - I stayed in the Heavenly Pool Villa and must say very well maintained and serviced. Went out for breakfast and a walk around to return to a clean, tidy and homy villa.
Both pools are also amazing with view and excellently maintained -- even with very few people using them, I can observe regular cleaning.
My stay is not included breakfast but satisfy with the ala carte Menu provided, good selection and reasonably priced.
The complimentary afternoon tea was also adding a good experience delivering you to a quiet evening at the resort.
I had a chance to enjoy the in villa grill, enjoyed it very much, nice food and great private service. Not to miss if you stay in the villa.
I would like to memorize a particular service team member to mention, but it will not be fair as everyone I and wife met giving their best to greet, smile and help.

Will be on my top list if I return to Ubud!

Thank you Maya Ubud and team who are showing resilience and adaptive in this hard time. Thumbs up!

Don’t get me wrong, the hotel is pretty good, however certain things make it feel as if it’s truly lacking the five star experience.
1) rooms (we stayed in a corner studio), not bad rooms but are already slightly ageing. The beds were great, but rooms could do with fresh paint and updated bathrooms.
2) staying at the peak season with a corner studio is already $500 usd per night, the hotel thought it’s the best time to do renovations underneath the rooms. When I called reception to say it’s not okay to do loud construction at 7:45am that in turn woke us up, they said they will fix it. At 8:30 nothing happened and I went physically to reception, the response was “yes sir, and we asked them to stop”. Even though I had said that they did not stop...seems they didn’t really care.
3) awesome spa, with fantastic treatments and massages !
4) breakfast buffet could be a bit better (bigger selection of juices and other dishes maybe).

Dear et255, Thank you very much for your stay at Maya Ubud recently and for writing your review. I am sadden to know your disappointment and do apologize for these incoveniences. Indeed, we have some works in the resort to develop and upgrade the villa facilities. The works were supposed not to start too early, however our team truly missed it. We appreciate also your other constructive comments, they are noted and shared to our team to improve. Again we are so sorry we could not make a wonderful experience on your first stay. We all do hope you will stay with us again and promise to bring back our true Maya Experience to you on your next visit. Sincerely Romy Anggara Resort Manager

I am reviewing this gorgeous resort for the seventh time. I cannot speak highly enough of Maya Resort and Spa. Each visit leaves me speechless. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful and are always pleased to see and speak to each visitor at any time of the day. The Asiatique restaurant is my particular favourite for breakfast and dinner where Asian dishes are a speciality. The River Cafe is delightful for an afternoon cold drink or swim in the infinity pool and the Bedula Bar is unbeatable for afternoon tea and evening "happy hour" cocktails.
Maya Ubud has the most glorious gardens and there is putting green for the golfers, a gym, tennis court and cooking school. Something for everyone! There is also a wonderful shop in the lobby where one can purchase the last minute gifts or something special to spoil yourself. Prices are very reasonable for quality stock.
My husband and I always stay in the same room each visit and were delighted to find that this room had been recently re-decorated especially for our return. Rooms and villas are currently being renovated and redecorated gradually so as not to interfere with the peace and quiet of holiday makers in residence.
I cannot wait to get back to Maya Ubud and meet all the wonderful staff again.

Wow - this place has the wow factor.

On arrival we were taken to our own private villa with pool... that was it. We did not want to leave. We booked here as a 3 night chill out after 2 weeks of travelling around Bali and Lombok . All I can say is it’s a good job we didn’t come here first or we mightn’t have left.

There’s nothing wrong with the place. No negatives. It’s just perfect.

Breakfast lovely, dinner amazing, Riverside lunch amazing, pools amazing, yoga fab.

So quiet and peaceful surroundings. I wouldn’t hesitate to book it again.

From the moment we arrived, the resort staff was friendly, gracious, helpful, attentive, and provided world class service. Most of the resort staff members remembered our names and would greet us every time we came to the dining area for meals.

The property was absolutely gorgeous - from the lobby and dining area, to the pool/lounge areas and resort grounds. We had 2 different rooms for our stay, both were wonderfully laid out and created a sense of meditative peace and reflective serenity.

We didn't have a whole lot of plans while there, but when we inquired about different activities, the front desk staff were quite helpful and provided good suggestions.

We came to the resort specifically for a special ceremony and everyone involved created such a beautiful setting; it was very special and meant a great deal to us. And then the meal afterwards...! It was a 5-course traditional Indonesian meal and dessert, so much food! We were beyond stuffed at the end, but made sure to try everything they served us.

The only negative was the amount of bugs around - eeks! This cannot be helped or avoided as we were in a very tropical, lush, and humid setting. The beauty of the resort surroundings and the incredible staff more than made up for it.

First time in Bali and Maya Ubud Resort made it a wonderful experience. We would definitely come back!

Maya Ubud is an excellent hotel and we’ve now stayed here 3 times. We had a pool villa this time which is definitely worth the extra cost as it was so lovely being able to dip into our private plunge pool on a hot day. Delicious, fresh and tasty food in all the restaurants, great spa in a peaceful setting next to the river, good gym and lovely pools. All the staff are so friendly and genuine but the staff below are exceptional and deserve a special mention:

Bintari, Dewi, Desi, Komang, Nyoman, Hartini in Maya Sari restaurant, Karma in the bar, Komala, Sri and Suapani in the Spa, Sumi at reception, Gina in the gym and Pujastana at the concierge desk.

Free shuttle bus goes into central ubud every hour from 9am to 9pm. It only takes a few minutes but is useful as the road doesn’t have a footpath and is very narrow so you really need to take the bus or a taxi although the distance into ubud isn’t very far.

Everything about the hotel is excellent, rooms are lovely, service is faultless and staff are amazing.

A superbly appointed resort just 5 minutes by shuttle to Ubud. Wonderful infinity pools, relaxing bars and restaurants and thoughtful staff. The food is great and inexpensive and the staff always make you feel very welcome. The rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. Do visit the spa - the treatments are delightful. First trip to Bali, 8 days in Kuta and 5 glorious days in Ubud.

My daughter and I visited in February 2020. From the moment we arrived we felt truly welcomed. Our room was fabulous, ask the staff are very helpful and knowledgeable and did everything to make our stay restful.

The food is top notch and complimentary tea from 4pm - 5pm mustn't be missed to try the local delicacies and traditional tea cakes. There's also an hour of free yoga every morning.

There is a free shuttle bus to and from the hotel that runs every hour if you wish to head into Ubud itself.

The infinity pools are quite magical especially the one by the Spa.

It is lovely for couples if you want an intimate and relatively child free holiday.

We would love to come back in the future.

Thank you Maya Ubud.

You can visit the Monkey Forest on your own. Be careful though, the monkeys are really aggressive. They will take your cellphone right out of your hand, glasses off your face, and hats off your head.
