The Dorset Country Inn is located in Baie Verte, NL (Newfoundland) and not Baie Verte, NB (New Brunswick) This should be corrected as it is a wonderful place to stay and Bernita, the owner, treats you as one of her own. We have stayed there several times and found it like our home away from home. Very relaxing and clean, the staff are very friendly and the service is perfect...

My Husband and I stayed at this hotel for a Hockey Tourment on March 31, 2013-April 2nd 2013. The hotel was very clean and very homely. The owner was very friendly and made our stay very comfortable .She let us parents, have full use of the kitchen and dining room area, because she was doing some work on the dining area. I would definalty, go back there to stay again. we really enjoyed our stay.

The worst inn I've ever stayed in. Tiny room, small bed TV that could not be seen from bed. No place to eat. Smelled like disinfectant. Trying to sleep could clearly hear conversations from the floor below.
Prices were what much nicer hotels charge. Wuoldn't put my dog there.

We booked at The Dorset Country Inn to visit the village of Fleur de Lys.
When we arrived at the inn, there was nobody there to assist us with check-in. We had to call to have someone come over and we had to wait over 15 minutes for her to show up.
The rooms are nicely appointed, but we found our room keys worked on several rooms, which could be a security concern.
In the morning, there was no one around to organize breakfast. Not sure if it was intended to be entirely self-serve. There was a good selection of breads, pastries and cereals to work with. however. My wife had to make the coffee for us and the other guests - who similarly wondered where the staff were.
As with check-in, we had to phone for someone to check us out and had to wait once again.
Ourselves and the other guests figured someone could walk in off the street, help themselves to a key and a room and have a fine breakfast in the morning without having to pay. Probably not what the owners want to have happen.
In fairness, we believe the owners were away and their staff let them down big time.

in January 2015, I had to stay a couple of nights in Baie Verte for work. I am delighted that I happened upon the Dorset Country Inn. It has new owners and they are refurbishing all the rooms. I had a very comfortable room with a table for my computer and a view of the TV from the bed. The hospitality is very warm and their kitchen is open 24 hours so you can always help yourself to coffee and tea, toast , cereal or just keep something in the fridge. Their dining room overlooks the harbour. I will definitely stay here again when my work brings me back to this area.

I regularly travel to Baie Verte and always stay at the Dorset Inn. It is clean, comfortable, charming with exceptional service!
Better than a hotel, it's like staying with family... that you really like!

I stay here with co-workers often when working in the area. It is our first choice for where to stay. It's like a home away from home. The rooms are spotlessly clean and the staff go out of their way to help you. Comfy beds, good internet, and good TV channel selection. Their is always lots of selection in the breakfast area. If you are working in the area or going to spend the day hiking just ask and they will pack you a great lunch. Fantastic value for the money. If you see a bit of grey mud in the main entry, it means one of us contractors working in the local mine must just walked in and didn't take our boots off outside!

Myself and 2 other ladies were booked for a night at this location. Upon arrival in Baie Verte, we could not find the Inn. We called the number we had for the reservation and were advised that it was sold. We had no notice from the previous owners that we no longer had a place to stay.

Our stay at the Inn was like a night at a relatives home. We were given a quick tour of the dining room and invited to help ourselves to a snack and breakfast. We even got to toss in a load of laundry while we went out for supper. Our room was lovely. Kudos to the staff for making us feel right at home. If you arrive and no staff is present just give a shout out on the provided desk phone. No problem at all...
