My husband expected more. He was initially impressed with the look of the room and then it went downhill. The bed was just OK, the AC went from very cold to warm, there was a lot of road/car noise, and the tub drained exceptionally slowly. He decided not to even try the “breakfast” thinking it would be of the same low caliber. He would not recommend this place.
While the lobby seems fine and it was a good location, we would never stay at this hotel ever again. Upon entering the room, there was a noticeable musty smell. The bathroom had mold (including in the shower head), was dark with horrible lighting, and had toilets so loud we could hear those in rooms around us. I did submit a concern about this experience on the Marriott site, and while they were concerned and helpful, in the end forwarded it to the hotel and said I would hear from hotel management in 3 to 5 business days after they investigated. It's been over a week and a half and I've heard nothing. There are many other hotel options in this area - stay somewhere else.
My daughter is traveling cross country and Colette at the front desk was super helpful with me. I called Colette from another state and she helped me understand the various Marriott choices for my daughter's situation with location and her truck and trailer. We ended up choosing their property and it was great. There were eating options in the area. Ample (safe) parking for her vehicles and she was very pleased.
Yuck! Will never stay again. We don't stay with Marriott too often, but I have the assumption about this brand that it is higher end. Not the case with this place. When driving up, the building looks disgusting, with black stuff all over the outside. The parking lot is horrible with little room to back in or out of spots. The lobby didn't appear to be too bad, but once we got to our room, it was a total disappointment. The curtain had holes in it, the bed skirt had holes in it. Totally run down and dated. The bathroom fan sounded like an airplane taking off. So loud, and then there was like black stuff in the corner wall of the bathroom, either someone threw their chew up there or it was mold. And the bathroom was dark with horrible lighting. This place needs to be inspected by corporate.…
Hey Mr. Marriott, you need to visit this hotel. Upon arrival we noted that the outside had black "stuff" on the facade (which probably was from AC leaks) but gosh, couldn't they pressure wash it? Made our arrival dubious and at that point I had already made the reservation so couldn't cancel. Of course the lobby was nice, aren't they all? Our room needed a rejuvenation. Our biggest gripe was the black mold (?) that was around the windows and the vents of the AC. Was so glad to leave here. And why did one room cost $114 and the next night $139?? Not on weekend either.
Another example of being Bonvoyed, not even a grab-and-go bag for breakfast. Hard boiled eggs but no salt, string cheese sticks, and some dinky little coffee cake snacks. When you book a Marriott brand but breakfast at the Motel 6 is better. The desk clerk's excuse, "We're slowly coming back." First and last time we'll stay here. Walked across the street to Springhill Suites to see hot eggs and bacon, a variety of cereal, milk, juice; salsa, fresh spinach, and tomatoes to dress up your eggs, etc. Having stayed in several Fairdields recently, their lame excuse is pathetic. We have the comparative experiences to dispute their bull.
We stayed at this hotel while in town on a weekend getaway with our family. The hotel is in a very convenient location just off of Interstate 80. The hotel grounds were well kept. Inside, the hotel was spotless. We had a very comfortable, quiet night. The only negative was the grab and go breakfasts. I miss the hot breakfasts! Hopefully, with COVID numbers being low, we will start seeing those return.
We had a great rate, upgraded room. The hotel is older BUT clean!!! The staff was nice, pool was open, other items open BUT... no breakfast because they DO NOT have the budget. Ugh... so a banana and a mini muffin!!! Come on this virus stuff is now a crutch for hotels to cut back to give less and charge higher room rates. This is crazy!!! Plus NO coffee pot in the room. Cold coffee in the lobby!
We were passing though town on a trip up to wisco the beds were very comfee hotel Wasent to bad to get to. Was off of I 80. Was a lil surprised by the lack of coffee pots in the room but thinking that’s with what’s happening. Was a lil bit of breakfast. If we have a chance I’ll come again
Our room was fresh and clean. The breakfast was great with a varied selection. Most of all, the service is exceptional. I left my Kindle in our room, and Chris from the front desk called to ask for my address so that he could ship it to me. Two days later my tablet arrived in Milwaukee. Earlier Chris had given us the scoop on the music scene in Des Moines. Next time we’re in Des Moines, we’ll definitely stay here and check out the music.
