I am not sure how to rate the Drury Inn in West Des Moines. There are many aspects that would lead us to recommend this property. We stayed for three nights. The facility is close to the airport, no more than 20 minutes away, with easy access to major highways. it is in a suburban shopping area with nice restaurants and other shops, including a Target. On a nice day, it's a good area to stroll around. Our suite was nice enough with two rooms, one with a sofa, ottoman, TV and cabinet with a fridge and microwave. The other room was a bedroom with a large bed, a TV, a desk, a dresser, two night stands, and a desk chair. The bathroom was standard, not big but not small, either. The bedding and towels were of good quality. The bed itself was comfortable. The TV had a good selection of channels. When we checked in, the room and bathroom were clean. As for the facility itself, it has a nice lobby and breakfast/gathering area. When we checked in the first evening, the breakfast area was filled with people and was very noisy. But it was quiet on our floor, so no need to worry about that. Breakfast in the morning was a step above your standard chain motel breakfast. The eggs, biscuits, sausage gravy, and sausage were hot and the staff kept them replenished. The bread selection was a little sparse, but I guess you can't please everyone. (I would have liked some whole wheat bread or some kind of whole grain muffins.) There was a waffle maker, cereal, juices, and coffee, also. All was going well after our first night there, but then... We went out during the day to visit family, but when we returned in the evening our room had not been serviced. We figured it was just a glitch with housekeeping so we didn't want to make a fuss. The next day we went out for the whole day again. When we returned in the late afternoon, our room still had not been serviced. When we went to the desk to inform them (and not complain) of the problem, there was no one there. We waited for approximately five minutes and decided to leave. Just then a woman came out from the back and said she was on the phone but that someone would be with us shortly. After waiting another five minutes or so, someone came to serve us. When I mentioned our issue with housekeeping, he looked up our room on the computer and said something like "Oh, your room was not entered as a stay-through. I'll call housekeeping." That was it. No apology. No "Let me have a manager speak with you." Honestly, I did not expect groveling, but I did expect an apology from a member of management and, perhaps, an attempt to see if there were something they could do to make up for the error. I don't know how often this has happened to other guests. But for us, this was our first impression of the Drury Inn & Suites West Des Moines, and it was not a good one. If we come back to the area, we will probably find a different place to stay. First impressions matter.

Friendly staff, comfortable rooms. The rooms were clean and quiet. The location is conviently close to I-35. The Kick-Back and breakfast were good, and there was plenty of seating spread out so you didn't feel crowded at all when eating. I will stay again. Recommend.

This is a class place. We brought our pup along and they are very dog-friendly. They gave us tickets for a drink at happy hour. We came downstairs only to find not only drinks, but enough "snacks" to qualify as dinner - chicken, alfredo pasta, potatoes, veggies. On the other side, hot dogs, nachos with cheese, salad. We were amazed. Breakfast was delicious and extensive - anything you would want. The room was beautiful and very clean with a cleverly hidden microwave and fridge. The front desk clerk, Keith and when we checked out a young woman whose name I don't t remember, were very nice and efficient. I would go here again in a heartbeat! Wish they had Drury where I live.

My husband and I were traveling home to northern Wisconsin from our trip to southern Texas. We stayed at this Drury Inn in Iowa. We can’t say enough good things about this place! The room was incredibly spotless, comfortable and well maintained. After 900 miles of travel in one day, this is where you will want to stay! We arrived to smiles, prompt and friendly check in service, and fresh popcorn. Shortly after arriving we were treated to the 5:30 Kickback. It was mashed potatoes with Swedish meatballs night. They also offered steamed veggies, salad, nacho cheese with chips and hotdogs. Did I mention cocktails were included. Breakfast was just as delicious, and ready bright and early in the morning so we could finish our trip with a nice hot meal to start the day. On top of everything else, we had the best night of sleep! The room was quiet, and super comfortable.

We love staying at a Drury - always consistent. This location was really nice - although in a shopping plaza, it was quiet and an easy access point to explore Des Moines. The beds were very comfortable and the breakfast/kick back service was standard/no surprises. On the weekends this place was mayhem - kids/families everywhere. Some of the parents felt it was ok to let their little ones roam the hallways even after 10 PM, but that’s not the hotel’s policy or fault. During the week the hotel was quiet, weekends - not so much 😅

My friends and I enjoy staying at the Drury Inn & Suites West Des Moines. Front desk staff is exceptional. They were friendly and also got both our rooms on the same floor. The hotel was pretty full and there must of been lots of kids events (hockey & basketball) going on as there were ALOT of children there. We booked the 2 room suite and a Double Queen Room. Both were clean and pretty sound proof. We did not hear neighbors or anyone in the hallways. The Free 5:30 kickback was great. Free beverages and a wide variety of food. The staff working this did a great job of keeping food refilled and they had a nice variety of drinks. Due to how busy the hotel was seating was a bit of an issue, but we figured that out and had the option of taking it back to our room as well. We did not use the pool but from what I was hearing the pool was nice. I want to thank Megan, Reed, Mindy & Andrew for the birthday card they sent to our suite. It was a extremely nice gesture to recognize a guests birthday. It makes you feel like a valued customer. I would hands down recommend this hotel based on customer service, cleanliness and amenities. Lastly, there are plenty of things right around the Drury to do. I would like to go when it is not so cold so we can walk around and explore the area.

What a great stop! We were traveling from Minnesota and knew we would stop at a Drury Inn along the way. We stop at Drury’s because the staff is always great! When we arrived we were greeted as friends. The room was great. The “only” problem was that there wasn’t a bath mat. No problem we just used a towel. ;). Loved the pool and spa (hot tub). Great kickback happy hour and good breakfast! Staff is awesome! The property is clean. Did I mention that the staff was excellent? Super friendly and great value!!! Great area too! A brew house and wine bar near by.

My wife and I, while traveling from New Jersey, unfortunately found some issues during our five night stay with this specific Drury. We thought the room to be good; comfortable and clean with all the desired amenities. The primary complaint was with the elevators; only one worked and the other was questionable at best. Many patrons took to the stairs, but as we are in our 70's, there was no way my wife and I could serpentine them! Waiting time for the one elevator was exhausting, and it was at times operated by a staff member because the door would not cooperate. We felt bad for the staff as they were verbally abused on occasion. The hotel was packed during our visit, with an array of construction workers on weekdays, and families enjoying fair week! The breakfast buffet and happy hour were most welcome, but the noise, lines, and some rude construction workers lessened this Drury experience.

Employee we booked room with was totally impersonable. Employee we checked in with was completely rude. Parking was a disaster. One elevator broken, other partially functional. At one had to take stairs with a three year old and an adult with an injured foot. Spa not working, AND we had asked at booking, just a big hole of extremely hot water. The only redeeming part of the hotel was the food was good. My husband stays at Drurys about 50 times a year. We will never stay in this one again.

We apologize for your experience during your most recent trip with us. We strongly value our guests and want to provide them exceptional service every stay. Unfortunately, sometimes things do happen and we try our best to mitigate them. We been working with our vendors to expedite repairs, but some things do take time. We appreciate your patience and understanding. We hope you do stay with us in the future and give us a second chance. This guest also wrote to customer service yesterday and reward points were added to their account. We have taken action on end and are proactively making changes to the schedule. Thanks, Megan

I would highly recommend this hotel for families as they had breakfast and dinner included as well as a few drinks and popcorn for a before bed snack. The pool was crowded but the kids liked it and the neighborhood has restaurants and shopping literally across the street in a very safe feeling area.
