Probably would have been a four or five star rating but for the front desk staff’s response to an issue I had. While showering I felt several things hit me in the head, and when I looked it was pieces of the ceiling falling down on me. When I went to check out, I brought the pieces with me along with a photograph of the ceiling. The guy at the front desk said, “Oh”. No, “I’m sorry”, no “wow”, no “gee whiz that’s odd”, Nothing but “oh.” Terrible customer service for anyone, much less so for a highest level member of their IHG Rewards program.
It has turned into a haven for transients, smelly and musty hallways. Stains on the carpet. Horrendous tattered couch. Half clean rooms. Dog barking next door. Cracks in ceiling in the restroom. Guest arguing. Spider on my pillow the next day. My husband and I gave the frail older gentleman our feedback however he DID NOT CARE!
I stayed at this hotel on the night of Jan 16th 2022. Room was fine as expected, but the parking lot had not been cleared very well. The main driving area was snow packed, meanwhile the strip mall next door was clear down to the pavement. Didn't have it cleared by morning. Big oversight. There's also a lot of scary looking icicles hanging from the roof that could fall on cars or people walking. Also, one thing that's weird about the check in desk is there are chairs all around it and I thought I went in the wrong door because it looks like a bar. I don't get it. Who is going to be staying at the front desk so long they need a tall chair to set in? Hadn't stayed at a Staybridge in a while so I figured I'd check it out instead of the usual Holiday Inn Express. Might stay here again when it's not snowing.…
I picked this place due to its proximity to the highway. The inside of the hotel is nice. They had a big breakfast selection and also movies at the front desk. The staff was friendly. I slept in the king size room. The bed was average. The room has everything you need to cook. Stove, refrigerator and dishes. The room is set up like a little studio apartment. I would have given the hotel a better rating if it weren’t for the thinness of the walls. You could hear everything going on. I could hear the people walking around above me. You could hear the tv going in the next room and people open and closing their doors. I am a lite sleeper and this was not a great choice for me. There is a gas station and Starbucks within 5 minutes drive.
I stayed here a year ago driving thru midwest and for the second time a back door remains broken so anyone from the street can access all floors. Staff were never seated near the desk - need to call for them as they do not respond to doors opening/closing. When I reported the door was told the front door was typically left open at night and the broken door was a new complaint. I had reported the same door open last year. On top of that I saw a brown tiny dot on the sheets and UGH --- a bedbug. I sprayed the area down w disinfectant and checked out next day. Have had similar security issues with another Staybridge and will prob switch to Hilton rewards. Wish I had taken a photo.
Unacceptable treatment of staff by general manager Brian. Highly recommend NOT staying at this hotel if he is still working there. Plenty of better options in town where management respects their employees and knows how to treat guests right. Don't bother.
This is a dirty and run down place. Mildew grout and cracked flooring. Paint chipping on furniture and worn out couch. Loud air conditioner and running water through tout the night from another unit made for a sleepless night. The kitchen utensils had dried egg on them.
I would give the Staybridge in Des Moines, Iowa a five star review! BARRY at the front desk is very welcoming and so beyond helpful! He was so cheerful and after a long day of driving it definitely made our day better! Room/overall hotel is very clean! Pool area is spotless! Definitely would recommend this hotel to anyone passing through. Also in a very nice area.
I have stayed at other WDM hotels, but I keep coming back here. I think you get the most for your $$$ and it is a pretty nice property and in a good location and the noise is next to non existent. My only grievance is with IHG Hotels, which is the chain Staybridge belongs too. They suck compared to being a frequent traveler with Marriott or Hilton.
Heading home from a long trip and we had reservations at the hotel. We arrived at 9pm. With dog in tow. The gentleman at the desk seemed a little annoyed that he had to do something. The room itself was small. We had a hard time finding a spot for the dog bed due to the fact there wasn’t that much open floor space. There was a full size fridge and kitchen and the room was clean and the bed was comfortable.we would stay there again if the need arised
