Doesn’t deserve even one star. Dirty room, mold in shower with bottom of the door falling off. We should have avoided since we have had several bad experiences; however, it was a great place when it first opened and the location is convenient. Definitely not going back.
Great hotel. Room was clean and very spacious. Staff was very friendly. Free breakfast had a lot of options. They do happy hour at night that we enjoyed a lot. There are a lot of restaurants and stores around, definitely will come back.
Had a great stay. Rooms were clean and staff was very friendly! We enjoyed using all the amenities. we will be back again! location is very convenient close to a lot of restaurants and shopping places.
Exceptionally clean with a smooth professional check in. First time using the BonVoy app. A little clunky but intuitive enough. The room is well appointed for two guests. We had four, so it was short towels, coffee etc. But I'm sure they would've brought more had we asked. We were only there for one night, it would've been perfect for multiple nights as it had a more than adequate kitchenette.
Traveling thru headed east and found the Element in Des Moines. We had stayed at the location in Fargo when headed west earlier in the year. The Des Moines location was fantastic! Very comfortable and well designed rooms. Beds and linens were great, shower was really large. Having a pet friendly room that’s clean and safe for you and your pet is sometimes hard to locate on the road! The night before we’d gotten very little sleep due to a less than stellar stay at another chain so we were so thankful to have such a great room. This is a great setup no matter your travel needs! Staff was so nice and everything was so clean! We arrived late so being able to pickup something from the grab n go area to cook in our room was super helpful. We didn’t have time to use the pool or fitness areas but they looked super nice! There are plenty of restaurants fast food and sit down. Lots of shopping in the area too. I will earmark this when planning routes for future trips! …
Had a chance to getaway for the weekend. This hotel offered it all, clean rooms, well informed and helpful staff, and the breakfast bar was fantastic. Additionally the location was ideal. Walking distance to bars, restaurants, and other entertainment venues. If I ever travel to Des Moines this will be the hotel I book.
This hotel is not what it used to be. I really enjoyed my past stays, but the recent one was not great. Cleanliness was an issue - there was visible dirt around the bathroom sink, mildew in the shower grout that they tried to cover up with more grout, two large rusty red stains on the carpet, and a dirty knife in the silverware cup. The seal on the bottom of the shower door was hanging off/barely attached, and it was stained orange and brown (it used to be clear). In the kitchenette, there were only a few paper towels left on the roll, and no replacement roll. The TV channel guide did not match up with any of the channels (e.g., the Weather Channel was actually Comedy Central, etc.). But by far the worst part was checkout. I was taking my stuff down to my car, and when I came back up to my room at 11:30 to get the rest of my stuff (checkout was noon), my keycard wouldn't work. I went to the front desk and the staff person told me that they shut off the key cards about 30 minutes before checkout. I confirmed, checkout is at noon, right? She replied, yes, it's at noon. Why would you deactivate the key cards BEFORE checkout time, right when people are trying to pack up and get out of their rooms? Who does that?? It was a hassle, and it was embarrassing to have to ask to reactivate my card, like I had done something wrong. And the staff was not friendly about it at all. I will not be staying here again.…
Three night stay with my husband and dog over July 4th weekend to see the iCubs. Everything was clean and comfortable. The pool and hot tub were nice, and breakfast was good, including custom made omelettes. Friendly service, and very nice to our dog.
I love the location of this hotel! It’s got several restaurants nearby and I can get coffee and fill my car nearby too! The hotel staff are friendly and accommodating! Rooms are spacious and very clean. They offer snacks most week nights and wine and beer are complimentary as well. Hot breakfast too! The outside patio is awesome! Cute and out of the way but worth your time and money!
The hotel did it’s job for our quick stay here. We were told that only king rooms adjoin, which was not ideal for our family, but we got a king suite with a king studio adjoining. The lobby smelled like flowers and was big and spacious. It had space for a dog to hang out with, but there was no dog to be found. There were some bikes you could rent out. Michael at the front desk was super friendly and helpful! Our room had a nice layout, but a few things were kinda rough. The dishes were a little gross, the towels were kinda stained, and the pillows were very uncomfortable, and there wasn’t a setting to keep the fan going continuously, waking us all up. There were a few nice things, though. The beds were nice and comfy, and the bathrooms were clean, and the fridge was large. We had plenty of space to store our waters, alcoholic beverages, and cheesecake! Checkout was a breeze. Overall, the hotel is nice, but a few setbacks kept us from thoroughly enjoying our stay.…
