I had called ahead to make sure our room would be available for a late arrival and was told it would as I reserved with a card. (I thought that was required but this all makes sense later). We arrived at 1045pm. There were people hanging out by the front door, drinking in the parking lot, and really making me question my choice of hotel. No one at the front desk. I picked up a phone and a lady said she was cleaning a room and would be down in 5 minutes. While I waited I could read the sheet of vacant and dirty rooms available on the counter. 27 to be exact. One had not been used since April 4th. It is May 13th now. Why hasn't that room bern cleaned in over a month. Im picturing a crime scene. Another guest arrived in the lobby minutes later she came down. She said the clientele is sketchy, housekeeping hadnt come to their room in 2 weeks and she was there to get more towels. 15 minutes later the front desk staff arrived. She now tells me they don't have my room available. I tell her to cancel my reservation we are going somewhere else, which we did. The only thing missing from our experience was law enforcement to address whatever was going on in the parking lot. It's obvious this hotel needs management and staff. It needs help. Me and my girl came in and stayed on and off for a couple weeks till our house was repaired and we enjoyed our stay! Housekeeping lady Jennifer was so helpful and our room was very clean and smelled fresher and cleaned my girl adored her and we are thankful we found a hotel that is nice and clean and we will be back . Spotless type of clean . My girl always left a tip thanks Jennifer
My fiance, our son, and myself stayed at this location since it is so close to my mom! The Hotel's Manager, Kristy was absolutely amazing to us and gave us a GREAT deal. Not only was the property up kept, but the rooms were too. This is one of the cleanest properties I have encountered in quite some time.
I stayed at the Extended Stay in Urbandale recently to attend a funeral. The staff were fabulous! They were so sincere and kind to me. The hotel was clean, room was clean, staff went out of their way to help all of the guests. I will definitely stay with them when I’m back in the area. Thank you!
First and last time staying at and Extended Stay. This property was disgusting! The parking lot was littered with trash and cigarette butts. Overgrown landscaping and terrible parking lot. The lobby was dirty and elevator was filthy. Hallways looked like they haven’t been vacuumed in weeks! The room was gross! Floors were dirty and furniture covered in dust. The kitchen wasn’t cleaned and the fridge smelled. The bed skirt had a line of dust/dirt that ran across it. Had there been a hotel nearby with an available room, we would’ve left! Instead we made a trip to the store, and bought cleaning supplies, towels, blankets, pillows and sheets. It was that bad!! This property needs a visit from corporate!! I understand staff may be limited due to pandemic but this was unacceptable!!!!…

Heed the negative reviews. Sadly I didn’t. Renovation is fresh & nice; pretty quiet (albeit busy, as parking & entryway are cramped), staff was nice (tho’ maybe overworked), but the place just had a vibe that is ‘off’. Our room was frequently graced with wisps of stale cigarette smoke - no extra charge! LOL!
I travel for work as a CNA and stayed at this hotel while on a 13 week long assignment in Des Moines. The staff was always very helpful and understanding of my questions and needs. Very friendly to myself and my dog. They held any packages I received behind the desk until I could retrieve them. Lisa was always very friendly and willing to listen to any questions or concerns I had and would go above and beyond to help or try and make my stay better. Would absolutely recommend this hotel as a place to stay for anyone in the Des Moines area on business or vacation.
It's a nice hotel with an awesome staff! The only place I'll stay in Iowa. Robi and Savanna are awesome and the hotel is always clean. They have recently updated their TV channel lineup and now it includes a preview channel. The free wifi is fast enough for anything I've ever wanted to do.
I checked in early in the morning after getting done working night shift and i was helped by Diana. She was very helpful and answered all of my questions with absolute certainty. It was nice to have someone be so welcoming and helpful after a long day at work.
