Hotel is right off of I-80 and not too far from downtown Des Moines. I arrived around 4 and room was ready, in fact I was upgraded to a suite! Room was very large with comfortable bed. There was a sliding doorwall, however the balcony is so tiny you could barely put one foot on it! Don’t understand the point. The pool is large, good for actual swimming. The on site restaurant is Bennigan’s, which I haven’t seen in years! Very few still exist, however I did not get a chance to eat there. Check out went well and I was off to my next stop.
4 day stay. Room was selected by Anthony Travel for our soccer team. This was a stay to play so the team had no choice of hotel. We paid more for hotel thru agency than was listed on website. Bathroom: Toilet - Had to remove the top of the tank to flush the toilet. Reported on day 1. It was looked at by maintenance? that evening, but they did not show the next day (or any day of our stay) to repair as promised. Sink - horrible water pressure - not even strong enough to wash toothpaste down the drain. Shower - snaps on curtain liner were broken, so liner hung down in to tub on both ends leading to a slipping hazard. Obviously didn't keep water IN the tub either. Room: Musty smell that never leaves. Temperature of room is either freezing or hot and humid. The sliding door to the balcony was missing the handle, so hot/humid air came in to room. I get that rooms are no longer cleaned daily, but we had 4 days of towels (which we had to get at the front desk - along with toilet paper) piled in our room. The garbage was not emptied and we were not provided extra/large trash bags. One broken washer and a drier to share with 4 sports teams that were at the hotel. Vending machine - out of order. Carpet in hall - could tell where vacuum had been and where it hadn't - (about 3 inches all along walls). Hotel staff was not friendly. In fact she didn't even look up from her phone as I asked for more towels and tp. The only nice/updated thing about this hotel was the attached Bennigans has recently been remodeled. Their evening staff seemed annoyed to have a group watch a soccer game on tv with drinks and appetizers. (The hotel was not busy, and the staff was tipped fairly). The buffet breakfast staff was very friendly and helpful. I wish a tip jar was available for them.…
This property is a large hotel that has been kept up well. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff however are poorly trained. When you walk by them they continue to chat with each other and ignore you. I asked at the front desk for coffee and creamer. The agent literally gave me one creamer and 2 sugar packets. Its like, seriously? This is a very nice property, but staff should be retrained regarding providing quality service to the public.
This hotel is conveniently located close to the interstate, but... When we first arrived, there was a sign at the check-in counter stating that someone will return soon. We waited about five minutes. Thereafter, checkin was quick, plus uninformative. The employee put us on the 5th floor, but didn't bother letting us know the location of the elevators, or anything else for that matter. We stayed in a room with a king size bed. The mattress was too firm for my liking, but other's may appreciate this type of bed. For some reason, the pillows had corners that were not soft and they kept poking me and my husband. Throughout our 24 hour stay, we heard a dog bark a couple of times, and people laughing very loudly. Obviously, the walls are a little thin. This hotel doesn't offer free breakfast, so we enjoyed breakfast at the connecting restaurant Bennigan's. The waitress was very pleasant, the service and the food were both excellent, and reasonably priced. More than likely, we will not stay at this hotel again. For the price you pay, you'd think they would at least offer free coffee and muffins.…
My kids were immediately impressed with this hotel. We opted for the suite so I could sleep in after a nice drive from Minnesota. The room was clean and seemed well furnished. I like their arrangement with the adjacent Bennigans for breakfast in lieu of a low quality free hotel breakfast that I see other places. The people who worked for the hotel were generally masked up.
Great hotel for the money, hotel has had a recent upgrade and is a nice hotel with plenty of public space to relax and chill. Good restaurant at hotel and some within driving distance. Hotel is not perfect but very good value.
After staying in a shiny brand new Holiday Inn in Nebraska last month, I forgot what to really expect at this hotel chain. This "newly renovated" hotel has a pretty lobby but the rooms were dated with chipped paint, musty curtains, and oversized furniture making the room feel cramped. Furthermore, while there were signs all over the hotel stating face masks are required due to COVID, many guests did not respect this precaution and the staff did not enforce. During check out I witnessed one staff member in the halls without a mask. Our room was clean and the beds were good, but in a season when health and safety is my top priority for my family, I would not recommend staying here.
Son made reservations. When we arrived a small problem with online reservations. While there another couple asked for handicapped room with access for wheel chair in shower. Was given room not access and they asked for another room. Our room still had some paper laying on floor that was missed by housekeeping. Also, the sheer curtains were torn and shredded. I took photo but have not posted here to the site at this time. A\C was very cold and was great on the hot day. Shower had plenty of hot water too. Went to Bennigan's for breakfast-I think it was an extra charge. Ordered 2 eggs, sausage, potato's and wheat bread. Received 2 eggs, bacon, potato's, and white bread. Coffee was delicious.
Stopped here on a cross-country road trip; we specifically chose this hotel over cheaper options because of the restaurant/bar amenity. When we booked on the website, we paid an optional $10 for breakfast in the morning. The restaurant and bar are under rennovations, and there are no alternative food options. This is NOT listed anywhere on the website. The only breakfast was the standard continental breakfast, most of which was barely edible, and was not what we were charged for. I had to go to the front desk to confront them about the $10 that we wasted, and even then they played dumb, as though this had never happened. Although most of our stay was fine, PLEASE be aware that there is no restaurant, no bar, and if you pay for breakfast you will be throwing your money away. Truly a dishonest booking experience.…
Cherylynn, the front desk clerk, was super - friendly and extremely helpful. Coffee maker was inoperable and couldn't get a replacement until the next morning. Housekeeping did not make the bed, they only pulled up the sheets. I showed a picture of to to the front desk who informed the housekeeping supervisor.
