This is our choice hotel when we stay in the Des Moines area, clean, up to date, with good breakfast. Hotel staff always very friendly, especially the waitresses at breakfast. Would recommend and will return.
I booked a room at the Hilton Garden Inn in Urbandale Iowa and the kind of room I booked was a one-bedroom king suite. The bedroom was supposed to be separate with a separate living area. And upon checking in I was not given that room and it's happened to me a few times at the Hilton and also at courtyard. What a horrible feeling it is to book this room and pay extra and get put in a standard room anyway and told that's just one bedroom suite which is a lie. Every time I've stayed at the Hilton or the courtyard I just feel terrible like I'm not good enough to stay there. it's absolutely a disgrace and I've lost all respect for the Hilton I would never spend another dime towards that hotel I've never been treated so poorly and felt so bad by saying that a hotel. The workers and your policies are absolutely discriminating I don't know what your contract is with Priceline but you are obviously not fulfilling your end of the deal. Hilton has lost all my respect the room was disgusting it had popcorn stealing the Dead fly and the window ledge the floor was dirty the bathroom had rust all over the tub something sprayed on the mirror there was stains in the couch. It's like this room was saved for Priceline people who paid extra over $100 for one bedroom suite even though I'm Platinum member with Priceline. I was just appalled and I felt terrible when I left like I wasn't good enough to get the room that I paid for. Never again will I stay with the Hilton and I'd like to know if other people have had the same issue with them cuz I bet they have. Hilton you're nothing but a big disappointment and you've lost all class and you discriminating. I don't know how your company stays in business. I would never let my family or anybody I knew or cared about stay with you or your company and I will spend as much time as I need to to helps for the word about your treatment of others. I will be letting Priceline know as well. You lost all my respect and you should be ashamed of yourself. but I'm sure you won't cuz this is the second time I've complained about you and you don't even respond cuz just don't care I don't have a million dollars in my account so what do you care right. Well you don't know what the future holds and I'm hoping your future holds failure. Cuz you deserve it you're despicable and should be ashamed of yourself. You take my money for the extra room put me in a crappy dirty room and then tell me that's the room that I should be in I have a receipt that explains my room and it's not the room that I was put in so that the fax speak for itself. And I'm not done I'm going to continue with this Priceline thing and why hotels like you do this and cheat people out of the rooms that they book and give them a crappy room. Not a good way to do business and not a way to keep your word you absolutely hold no value to me. But I'm sure you won't bat an eye to this what do you care right? Typical ritzy places... Full of judgment and racism. It would be nice to see somebody like you be ran out of business if bankruptcy and have nowhere to go but down. You absolutely disgust me Hilton. You have no class, no customer service and you just simply just don't care that's what so disgusting.…
We have pretty mixed feelings about this stop. It's a convenient location right off I-80, but as it turned out the location became a bit of a downside to the stop because most of the restaurants were not open in the neighborhood. One of the reasons we thought it would be nice to try a Hilton Garden was the lounge and restaurant would be there if we didn't want to look for a restaurant, but the Hilton's lounge and restaurant was closed in the evening. The restaurant was open for breakfast, social distancing and Covid precautions were in place and breakfast was good. Covid modifications vary greatly from hotel to hotel, don't understand why the pool is allowed to be open (with dripping wet people without masks running through the halls) but the Business Center and Fitness Center were closed. On this road trip we stopped at a few Hilton Garden's as well as Hampton's and we're not seeing consistency among stops. As far as the room itself it was a bit smaller than average. Our room at this location had a long counter along the wall, much like a Hilton Tru we stayed in, seems like a cheap alternative for more practical desks and dressers we found on other Hilton Garden's and Hamptons. You like to think staying at a Hilton Garden Inn is an upgrade from a Hampton, on this stop that wasn't the case. The Hampton we stayed at on our next stop was much better than this location in many ways.…
One night stay was adequate but concerning for recent pandemic. The staff was helpful enough but immediately upon entering the lobby two people had no masks. Some type of reception also was occurring and there were multiple people in the public areas of the facility that had no facial coverings. Do not attempt to make rules if the rules are not going to be enforced. The cleanliness of the room was very adequate and once outside of the public areas I did feel safe. I would probably stay at a different hotel if you any significant medical risk factors for Covid-19.
The hotel was clean and we had an excellent stay. The indoor pool was fun, and breakfast was delicious. There was also an outdoor area we could visit family. Staff were very nice to us, too. Would pick this hotel again in Des Moines.
