My wife and I arrived before check in time, and asked if we could check in early. I also messed up the reservation and asked for a different bed configuration. The front desk clerk was very helpful, and helped us out right away. The room itself was clean, comfortable, and smelled good. Everything worked. The ac unit had a good constant fan option that was good for ambient noise overnight. And the room kept a comfortable temp throughout. The beds were comfy. We both slept very well. We mainly used the door at the far side of the building. I must say that just outside that door area was quite trashy. Kind of nasty. And I must also say that the breakfast was one of the lamest I have ever seen. Nuff said. The hy-eve just down the road provided us with a wonderful breakfast. In their defense, when I look back at my printed reservation confirmation, it does say twice, “free light breakfast”. I would call it ultralight. With that said, we did have a good stay. If the price was right I would consider staying there again.…
Hotel hadn't been vacuumed in months. Room smelled terrible while hallway reeked of marijuana. Broken window in first-floor room. Wouldn't close. Manager told me "It's only glass, it won't protect you anyway". Yelled at me for not accepting the room in that condition. Trash on floor of room at check-in. Room wasn't cleaned during my stay.
The room was clean but the blanket were thin on the bed so a bit cold. Make sure if you are the main level you do not stay in room 105 as everything going on in the lobby will wake you up. The breakfast was just cereal so not good for a gluten Free person. Positive, no gross carpet on the floors and we got to wheel our bikes in.
The Perry Motel 8 owner has made a great deal of improvements to the rooms, halls, reception and expanded the kitchen-dining. It is clean and fresh. Wifi reception is strong--I used Blackboard Collaborate Ultra live with 27 people on line with me and video simultaneously and it handled it fine. Yards are well kept and in my estimation the cleanest and best kept Motel 8 I have stayed at.
The room was clean and smoke-free, the staff was friendly. We had left the "do not disturb" sign on the door all day, and when we returned to the room that evening, they called to see if there was anything we needed. There's ample parking. It's a great place to stay if you like to bike. There's access to the paved bike trail in Perry, and you can ride 70+ miles on it. There's a great little ice cream place near Perry that we unfortunately (or fortunately!) didn't discover until our last day.
From the half dead plants to the creepy vines attached to the wall a ceiling in the lobby, I had a bad feeling pulling in. Checked in by a guy with meth mouth. If this had not been prepaid by my employer, I would have turned around and left.
Musty smelling room. Credit card was declined as he put in the wrong expiration date. Used another card. Called my credit card company to find out why it was declined when I got outside. Should have went to another place.
Family operated hotel so very devoted to give good service. The only other hotel in Perry, Iowa is Hotel Pattee, which is beautiful, but rather pricey. This Super 8 is a great alternative! Great service at the front desk. Continental breakfast available!
The bed wasn’t great . Breakfast needs more variety . Staff was exceptional . Room was clean . Shower and air conditioner were good . Off the main road . Quiet. Staff in process of renovating the property .
It was clean, well decorated and the manager was attentive. It wasn't outdated like some hotel/motels in small Midwest towns. There are a lot of plants in the lobby which I didn't care for, but that's a personal opinion.
