Stayed here at year's end 2022 on an overnight between Denver and Detroit area. Selected the motel as a result of mostly positive reviews from the last couple of years and excellent access to I-80. Pleased that this motel was among the least expensive in the area, yet delivered a high quality stay. The room was clean and neat, including a refrigerator, TV, coffee maker, and even a bathtub with shower (would have been a delight for my late wife!), good wifi service, and useful air unit. Beds in excellent condition. Hard to complain! There is an inside pool and fitness room. That's "room" not "center." It is an incredibly small room though a wall-sized mirror makes it look twice as big! There's a treadmill, an elliptical, and weight-lifting equipment all squeezed into a room with minimal other space. Probably not comfortable for more than two people at a time. Made the reservation through the hotel site and no problems. Arrived around 8 pm with no hitch and left the next morning around 7:30. The breakfast area looked good (as did the lobby) though it was a little limited for food selection. Expected hot oat meal and found hot biscuits and gravy. Also pancakes, cereal, bread items, etc. Motel is located in an area with quite a few quick restaurants, including Wendy's and McDonalds nearby and Panera north beyond the interstate. Next door restaurant is closed and in disrepair. Would gladly stay here again!…

You cant judge a book by its cover with his place! When i pulled up i saw a tired, worn looking exterior and thought "there is no way we are staying here!" To my surprise upon walking in there was a clean, modern lobby. It took a while to get all checked in, but no big deal. We drove around to the entry door closest to our room, which was right inside that door and up the stairs so we could look out and see our vehicle. Plenty of close parking. We found a clean, comfortable king bed room. Comfy matress. Comfy pillows. Room for the kids with our air matress. Only thing we used our towels the first day. Set them out to be taken by housekeeping, and they were, but never replaced. Went to front desk our second night to ask for more towels and was told they did not have extra towels. I wondered how this was possible. No big deal, we had our beach towels with us, so we used them the next morning after showering. Appreciated the huge bathroom. Hot breakfast with good selection available. Kids said pool was cold and had bugs in it. Overall though, good stay. Probably still wouldn't be my top choice for a Des Moines hotel, but nothing that would ever keep us from returning either. Good close location to interstate. Nice proximity to good restaurants and shopping and reasonble commute to the Iowa State Fair shuttles!…

One of my better hotel stays in the last 2 years. Bed and pillows were comfy. Shower was decent, water pressure was great. Staff we encountered were friendly. Breakfast was ok. Seating is minimal, food choices were good. Kudos to the staff who did their best to diffuse an unpleasant guest who had nothing good to say about his stay.

When we arrived the lobby and hallways smelled like a smokers convention was going on. This hotel is a 2 story walk up. When we turned down the beds we noticed that there was spray tan and what looked like lube and blood on the sheets. My daughter called down for 2 full sets of new sheets. It was later that we noticed a greasy head print on the headboard, a hand print on the picture on the wall and dust all over the room. In the morning I told the desk clerk that they should talk to the housekeeping staff because they aren't doing a very good job cleaning the rooms. Breakfast was good and it was quiet, but if smoke smell bothers you, you should probably stay at a different hotel.

This is another Quality Inn with internet problems, at least when we were there. The wifi was almost unusable. The staff tried to help but it looks like the problem is at a higher level in the Choice Hotel organization. That is where the responsibility lies. It was also our bad luck to be given a room in the middle of some kind of teenage field trip with noisy kids everywhere. Those problems made our stay unpleasant but otherwise the location is decent.

Let's face it people, Choice Hotel brands can be a hit and a miss. I stayed at the Rodeway in Council Bluffs for 4 days then had to drive down to Des Moines for another 5 days. WOW, the difference, and Council Bluffs was 5 bucks more a night! Getting here, after such a miserable stay in the Bluffs I wasn't expecting much, boy was I thrilled when I got here and checked in. Mike, the evening clerk was such a pleasant, welcoming member of their staff, he was indeed a pleasure to deal with. Greeted me at a Platinum member and assured me I would be getting my extra points for this stay. This hotel is located on a main strip, close to the freeways, and MANY stores including Target, Hyvees, a myriad of restaurants and fast food chains and Starbucks. During the warmer months you could walk to plenty of them. Although my smoker's room was located around the back of the building I always felt safe, an important plus for a single female traveler. The parking lot was well lit, and plenty of cameras about inside and out. My room location was closest to the freeway but I NEVER heard any traffic. The room was well appointed, and almost what I have come to expect from a Marriot, only a bit older. The bedding was clean, bright and fresh. Five pillows of varying degrees of firmness. were included in the full size king bed. There was plenty of lighting, electrical and usb plugs, having 2 cell phones, a lap top, and a couple of other electronics this is very important to me. Of course they included a hair dryer, single cup coffee maker, iron board and iron along with plenty of cedar hangers, a mini fridge, microwave, full length mirror and flat screen television, that swiveled so you could see from any angle of the room with plenty of channels. These are the must haves for someone like me that spends 200+ nights a year in a hotel. Housekeeping was available every day, but I didn't need them. Upon arrival there were plenty of towels to keep me for the 5 nights, and I simply put the trash out by the door every day and it was emptied with a fresh bag inserted. (remember to tip your housekeepers folks). There was also the traditional bar soap, shampoos, and coffee and replenished as needed. The water pressure was magnificent, with a shower head with varying styles of out put. Never had to worry about taking a cold shower, if anything the water could at times get too hot. Oh, a fully functioning indoor pool as well as hot breakfast provided DAILY, during a time when hotels are trying to use Covid as an excuse not to provide those things was a great plus for this traveler. Although I only went to the breakfast once I found it to be the traditional eggs, sausage, toasts, bagels, yogurts, etc. along with 5 different types of juices. (You have to try the peach, it's yummy) and the breakfast area clean, continually stocked and well kept. So of course any property is going to have draw backs, but it was hard to find any with this one. If I had to find them it would be that the coffee maker in the room is just the single cup style and the long walk from the 2nd floor, back of building to the front lobby/breakfast area. Yep, seriously, THAT'S it! Even being in a smoker's room I would expect dingy walls or dirty windows, but not here. The hallways always smelled fresh, even given that it was the 'smoker's wing. So I say stay here with confidence that you will be treated very well, not be disappointed in your treatment and can STILL enjoy a swim and a hot breakfast!…

Every time I have stayed at this site I have been welcomed with a friendly face and positive attitude. I travel a lot and I always know I will be taken care of here. We stopped after a day of travel. Mike, the manager who checked us in was friendly and welcoming. Our room was clean and quiet. wi-fi, microwave, refrig in room. We had a hot breakfast of eggs and sausage and juice.

I rarely leave a bad review for anything. But, I was so disguested by this hotel, I felt I had to let others know. Somehow, I ended up booking a smoking room - there was only one choice to begin with - but it never occurred to me that any hotel actually still has smoking rooms. This was a last minute booking. When we arrived, the person behind the counter stated that they only had smoking rooms left and it had been that way for a while. The bar attached looked like it had been partially burnt down, the area felt very unsafe, the corridors were dark and had a very musty smell. Yes, the room was a smoking room, but there was a sandwhich bag tied over the smoke detector in the room! If there was a fire, my family would have died before we were alerted to the fire. There was smothing dark smeared on the back of the bathroom door - which would not stay shut, no matter how many times you tried to latch it. And, the light switch and hair dryer plug was covered in dirt and grim - and probably nicotine stains? We are sorry to hear that you did not have a good stay. The day that you checked in with us we were full house and only had smoking rooms left. If you were uncomfortable with purchasing a smoking room we are very sorry about that. Also, yes we still have smoking rooms which is allocated towards the back part of the hotel that has its own separate entrance. We also offer clean spacious non-smoking rooms as well. As for the bar, please mention that directly to the owner of the bar on their trip advisor page listing and not on our page. The bar is owned and operated by another company not us. We understand your concerns but that is totally out of our hands and control, so as mentioned post that on their Trip Advisor page. To your last comment about the family that did not get the room, they did because if they paid for the room then the morning prior to arrival we assign all the rooms out. I understand you are basing your review upon a smoking room that you purchase when at the front desk because we did not have any non-smoking rooms but if you stayed in our non-smoking rooms I would 100% say you would have enjoyed your stay. Every day our entire team work very hard to keep the entire property clean and well maintained so give us another chance and let other guest experience what our hotel can truly offer, which is a well maintained, clean spacious rooms with free indoor heated pool, fitness centre, free wifi.

we stayed a saturday night in march with a good aaa rate. the hotel was clean, and parking was abundant. the location is optimal for shopping. we felt very safe at this hotel. the breakfast was standard: everything was prepackaged for pandemic safety. a couple of things i would caution: our toilet made a loud shrieking noise whenever it was flushed, but we didn't bother the staff with it; just didn't flush in the middle of the night. the walls were also thinner than we'd like; we heard normal level conversations next door and had no doubt they could hear our tv (turned down) as well. but overall, we had a positive experience.
