Hampton Inn & Suites down town Des Moines is a great choice for a hotel. The staff is very friendly and pleasant. What makes this place a hotel to come back to is the location and amenities. It's located downtown but just enough off the heart of the downtown. It's an easy walk to great restaurants/bars, coffee shop and the farmer's market! Parking is convenient with the option of a connected parking ramp. They offer a complimentary breakfast in the morning which is adequate if you don't feel like going to a restaurant. Beds are comfortable as are the pillows too. Nice layout in the rooms. Microwave/refrigeratorl There is also a decent workout facility and swimming pool. The only con I would call out is the bathrooms will need to be updated soon. They are not bad at all just starting to show signs of age. Overall place is clean and just a comfortable place to stay!…

Jennifer was able to get us in our rooms early and was very friendly at check in. She told us things to do in the area and explained all the amenities of the hotel. I would definitely stay here again and recommend it for business, leisure or any travel to Des Moines.

I would stay here again and again. Quiet and clean with very friendly staff. Excellent fitness room and pool. Breakfast done very well. Plenty of everything and good location,secure parking, and great bed. Quality place, and I informed the front desk of the frayed carpet and broken bench leg in my room. Barely noticeable, but I recommend staying here.

I was away from home and missing my family. Jennifer made me feel at home 😊 People like her are hard to find. Thank you so much for going above and beyond. I will definitely recommend to family members and colleagues. The place was clean and well ordered. Everything worked. The only thing was I did not know how to brighten the TV with that strange remote 🤣 🤣 And oh, please remind guests to just restart their computers when trying to join the WiFi 😆 Thank you! Second stay at this hotel. Both for consecutive years’ Des Moines Marathon. Perfect location for it. Just a few blocks from the race festivities(and also the Farmer’s Market.) Trying to write chronologically as best I can so I’ll get to the room shortly. ADA parking in the garage is available, but at the upper corner of each ramp. For someone on wheels, that’s only fun one way. And after handcycling 26 miles for time, near impossible to go up the ramps to get back to the vehicle after such energy exertion. Thank you in a big way to Emily at check-in. A quick explanation led to her creative thought for parking for the two of us. It was perfect and means a lot that efforts were made. While I’m praising Emily, let’s give her a shout out for continuing the thoughtfulness forward without prompt. Recognizing what room I had booked, she knew I would have more space and comfort in a different layout. I don’t know if it was an upgrade per se, but it was clearly more than enough to meet wheelchair needs. The open space in the room was much appreciated over the standard room. The room had a very comfortable bed and I got much needed rest. If I had to list an inconvenience, it would be that the television remote distance did not reach the bed, just beyond the foot. And the discovery of motion sensors in the room still puzzles me. Does that tell the desk anytime someone moves? Weird. All said, for my visit, this hotel is great and every staff member I talked to was cheery, pleasant, and helpful. …
