Very nice hotel. Check in experience was pleasant. The day we arrived was a mess, 6 inches of fresh snow accumulated. The Front Desk person was nice enough to let us park in front of the main entrance to unload our car, before parking in the lot. The room was very comfortable and looked like it had been recently been remodeled. Breakfast was just ok. Otherwise, a very nice, clean and safe hotel. And if you are visiting Drake, its literally just across the street.
We wanted a break mid-trip from CA to MD and decided to check out Des Moines. So glad that we chose this hotel. It's right across the street from Drake University and we had a great room on the 5th floor overlooking the campus. The staff couldn't have been more helpful, especially Michael in Guest Services. The hotel seems very new. It was spotlessly clean. Fitness room, pool (by appointment), guest laundry, Our room was great and again, spotlessly clean. Comfortable bed and pillows, quiet, efficient A/C, kitchen area with full size fridge, microwave and dishwasher. Fully stocked with dishes/glasses/cutlery etc. Great shower with rainfall shower head. Would definitely recommend!
We had a wonderful stay, primarily due to the front desk agent David G. He was kind and welcoming, and was very understanding in helping us figure out our reservation. We had booked our stay for the wrong night, and David single handedly fixed this for us with calmness and kindness. We will be returning because of this wonderful service!! David truly cared about our comfort and experience, you can’t find this kind of staff just anywhere!!
Nice Home2 Suites location, on the grounds of Drake University. Decent free breakfast and plenty of parking, although the condition of my room was not quite as sparkling as previous Home2 experiences. Showing a little wear already. Very friendly staff!
Really great location - steps away from Drake and right off the interstate. Minutes to downtown Des Moines. Staff was awesome! Super helpful, and went above and beyond to feed us when we had to leave for a swim meet earlier than breakfast was served. Rooms were very clean and comfortable. Mirror in the bathroom was bright with even lighting. The heater didn't bang or abruptly turn on and off. It was a slow, quiet rise to full heat and a quiet, gradual lowering to "off" and didn't keep us up at night. There was a sizable table that we rolled out to eat dinner on. Parking was confusing - no signage for where you could park although, it IS off street parking - when the lot isn't full. It's nestled right in the heart of all the college housing, so it's a little noisy at night. The hotel seemed to be full of college students as well and was a little noisy itself. We stayed on a weekend - so maybe a weeknight would be quieter. I'd recommend this for a family stay, but if you are a light sleeper, might want to use some white noise.…
Had a reservation for two nights but had to cancel the first night on very short notice due to circumstances out of our control. The hotel was very accommodating and let us cancel with no additional charges. When we did check in the next night the staff was very understanding and friendly. Rooms were clean and quiet. I would recommend this hotel for anyone who is looking for a clean and comfortable stay in the area.
The location was great for our first visit to Drake University. Each morning, Andrea, at the front desk, greeted us with a smile and hustled to make sure everyone had what they needed at a very busy food bar.
Our hotel room overlooked the Drake Campus right across the street. My husband simply walked to his conference there. The staff were all super friendly and all of the spaces were exceptionally clean. There was plentiful free parking. The breakfast was better than most I've experienced; waffles, ready-made omelettes and breakfast sandwiches in addition to the usual. Fun downtown Des Moines restaurants and breweries were an easy 5 minute drive. Loved the pet-friendly atmosphere. Our room was a king suite-the sofa was really comfy to lie on and read a book or watch TV.
Absolutely amazing customer service! Andrea treated us so kindly and helped us with everything we needed, made the stay so much better! We will absolutely be staying here in for any future trips we make!
This was our first time traveling with our two dogs, one is very old and has difficulty ambulating. We were able to get a room that didn't have any dogs next to us and it was super close to the elevator, which we appreciated. The staff were very warm and welcoming and very attentive to our needs. The room was perfect and had everything we needed for a home away from home. The set-up was perfect with a full kitchen, living room and a super comfortable bed. What surprised me was how quiet the hotel was! This hotel has thought of everything for any possible need. The breakfast food was amazing! Quality food and for a variety of diets, as well as coffee whenever you wanted it! Andrea, who checked us in was very helpful in explaining how everything worked, where we could take the dogs, how breakfast worked, and more. Our dogs slipped through their "Dad's" hands a couple of times while in the lobby and decided to make new friends with the dining patrons and there were no repercussions for it. I wish all hotels were set up like this one was. You really know how to do it right. We will look for Home2 whenever we have to travel in the future. Thank you for a wonderful stay!…
