Guy at front desk not friendly at all. After our stay, the wife and I were discussing how disappointed we were in the Marriott property. We stay at Marriott properties a lot and this is subpar to our standards. We decided we won't be staying here again. Sure it is convenient to Wells Fargo, but so are other hotels in the area.
I called day of our reservation at 7A fully knowing that hotels have a 24-48 hour cancellation policy. I used to manage a Fairfield in downtown Nashville. However, my husband and I had Covid so we called to see if there was any way we could get a cancelation with no charge for the safety of their guests. The front desk individual said "yeah no problem" and I repeated back to her " you sure? no charge?" and she replied "nope, no charge". I replied with so many thank you's after that. However, today we noticed that they did still charge us for the stay. I called the front desk same day/today and he said "well she was wrong and this is a manager issue and I am not a manager". I kindly asked to talk to a manager and he said "he's not available" . So then I went on to ask when I can follow up since he is not available and the front desk agent hung up on me. As a former hospitality manager of 10 years I am so disappointed in Marriott. I am now a recruiter and know how short the work staff is but the training in customer service should not be lacking as well.…
I was surprised by some on the negative reviews of this hotel, but since it was the only one I could find under $200 on the night I needed, I opted to stay here. There was nothing wrong w/this hotel that I could see. We did have a room that faced the skate board park across the street and when I heard the music reverberating through the windows I was hoping it wasn't going to be a late night/all night event - it wasn't. I think the music went off @ 10pm. That view was also of the state capitol and the river! We drove down to the farmers market, came back to the hotel for the free breakfast, served until 9:30 Saturday and Sunday! Another bonus. This place doesn't have a pool and while I'm not sure we would have had time to swim, we probably would have made time had there been one! Right across the street from Wells Fargo Arena and one block from the Iowa Event Center. Easy access to 235. I would definitely stay here again and there is no reason for you not to! BTW, check in w/Kristen was GREAT! When we told her our plans for the morning she offered us a late check out also. We ended up not needing it, but appreciated the offer. NOTE - there is only one car per room allowed in their parking lot! …
hotel under new management. And what a difference!! Staff was very attentive. The rooms were very clean & very large compared to other hotels i’ve stayed at in the area. We had a wonderful stay. We’ll be back!
I stayed here this past weekend, and they had my car towed from their parking lot. It cost $160 to get it back. I was told I would have to take it up with management. I called Monday and the guy I spoke with said they would take care of the cost. He said his manager would call me back. I never received a call. The next day I called them again. Jeris told me he would absolutely not reimburse me for being towed. He said SEVEN of their guests staying there that night were towed, and they were not doing anything about it. I asked to speak to someone above Jeris. He said there was nobody else above him, and he hung up on me! Absolutely terrible customer service!! My husband and I are Gold Members and have been loyal to Marriott for years. This is every disappointing!!
Check in was smooth and staff was very friendly and thorough in explaining services available. We were able to check in early which was helpful. Parking is free, but a displayed pass is required. Pass received at check in. Room was a little sparse with some minor maintenance issues. We did not get to eat the breakfast, so can’t comment on that other than it is included.
It is Feb 2022: In April 2021 I booked this hotel for friends and I to stay here for the Eric Church concert in February 2022. Yes, I booked early. That would be 10 months before the concert to guarantee my friends and I would have a place to stay. I received an email 1 week and 1 day before my stay that they unfortunately could not honor my stay there. I am so angry. This is the crappiest thing a hotel could do to someone. 1 week before my trip. According to the manager, they overbooked....well it's not my fault. I booked 10 months ago. This is ridiculous. I would love for everyone to boycott this hotel in the future.
The breakfast was good. All options were on offer. The room was well laid out with a decent shower. The room was easy to temperature control, which we appreciated. Disliked · The parking lot was unacceptably icy. Im not just making a big deal out of nothing either. I mean apocalyptically icy. I witnessed several falls while I was there. I myself slipped twice. There was a half inch of ice several feet across spanning 80 percent of the lot. It was unavoidable. It was clear nothing had been done about the ice, and was not done during our entire stay. No effort was made. -The room had a hole in the wall and cracked ceiling, the water pressure was poor in the shower, the pillows were very flat and gave us both neck issues the next day -we are only 32. -The staff was disinterested and on their phone at the front desk.…
Second time staying at this property in a year- previous was OK. I know times are tough with hospitality staffing - but things missed the mark on recent stay. Front desk didn’t acknowledge any of my regular BV preferences - told me no King beds were available when clearly the hotel was only 1/3 full. Ended up in an odd ground room floor and could hear every word of the neighbors- clearly a poor design flaw in buildout and wall construction. Door has probably a 3/4” gap that lets light under. Outside of hotel needs attention - towel hooks falling off the wall, shower head / pressure miserable despite being the typical speakman. Breakfast minimal, bar closed. This property is newer, very close to Wells Fargo, has large rooms / nice layout and styled nicely - it has potential- but this stay just totally missed the mark.…
We stayed at this hotel for state basketball at wells Fargo arena. The location could not be any better, literally closer than most parking lots. However, the hotel is so noisey. We could hear ever word of the people in the room next to us. The location makes it worth it, but wow, it's loud!!
