I picked this hotel due to locationfor the activities that we were going to do. The hotel was clean enough, but the decor and furniture are the most horrible of any hotel I have ever been in. The front desk staff were not very friendly. We were just average people staying at the hotel. They defintely gave preference to the wedding and baseball groups that were there. (The baseball group all gathered in the lobby for a pizza party - at least 30 pizzas - and made noise far past what I would have thought was quiet time.) The shuttle was nice a nice and unexpected plus. But our air conditioner did not work. Instead of giving us another room, their advice was to run the "fan" all night. The place is very noisy. You can hear people in the hallway and the street traffic. We did not get much sleep. The breakfast is less than average. I am a rewards member, but this hotel did not allow me to use any points to pay for the room. I suppose because it is near the ballpark, so they take advantage of that. I thought I would suck it up one time and just accumulate more points. If you stay two or more nights and do not have them clean the room, you are supposed to get extra rewards points. However, I did not get any posted to my account. I emailed about it but never received an answer. I will never stay at this hotel again.…

We stayed two nights. The room and breakfast area were clean. The shuttle service was helpful! We came for Iowa Cubs. This hotel had a shuttle there but was also within a mile so we walked. The location was nice. The staff was very friendly. My only complaint was the air conditioner was loud and turned on/off all night. We would stay here again!

The hotel is fine. It’s right downtown - on the highway- though so we heard traffic all night. Rooms are fine & seem clean enough but it’s a little dreary. Nothing bright about the surroundings. Beds are okay. Front desk woman was nice. Nothing about this hotel would make me come back here…but there isn’t one particular thing that I can point to that is the reason why I wouldn’t return.

We frequently stay at this chain if motels. This location was so convenient to the apartments where we were visiting family members! Won’t ever stay anywhere but here when we visit Des Moines! Downtown, walking / bike trails, and a new Starbucks can all be reached without getting in your car once parked at motel! We did drive tho - it’s the easiest downtown to maneuver…better than the suburbs! Parking , traffic, shopping, beauty, it’s the best! Can’t wait to return to this town !

Stayed two nights. Beds were very comfortable and liked the pillow selection. Check in was pleasant and efficient. Staff was accommodating and friendly. Breakfast was well presented and hot food. Will stay here again on our return trip.

Don’t stay here if you follow guidelines of wearing masks to protect yourself and others from Covid 19! The lobby says that they have stepped up measures in place and the entrance says masks required. Yet when we went to walk our dog at 9 pm, the lobby had no fewer than 15-20 people in it. No one had a mask. Families had lost power that day caused by a storm, so it was busy, but literally not one person wore a mask other than the person working at the desk. I felt very unsafe in a hotel that promised to do better and where I paid money to stay. It wasn’t like a market where I could choose to walk out. Very disappointed. Going back to Hilton’s, which are clean and follow through on guidelines!

The Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Downtown Des Moines is a perfect blend of great location and comfort stay. The hotel is a 15 mins drive from the airport and just a minute drive from the main downtown area. The check in at the hotel was fast and the staff was very friendly throughout the duration of our stay. The suite that I had got had a huge double bed with a big window facing the downtown area. It had all the other amenities needed for any sort of a trip. The morning breakfast was a good spread. It had some very good options for a heavy brunch in case needed. The hotel also has a heated swimming pool which is just perfect if you are travelling in the middle of the winters. The hotel provides a shuttle service to the downtown area for guests. The shuttle service does pick up and drop services within a 2 mile radius. Overall a very good experience. Keep it up. …

This was our first stay at this hotel. It is a good location, close to downtown. It is newer and modern. Well maintained and clean, pets allowed for a fee. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was good. Will definately stay again.

My wife and I stayed here recently. What a SUPER location to downtown DES MOINES and during the summer to the baseball stadium where the IOWA CUBS play. The hotel is just south of the Downtown so you do not have the morning traffic coming from the west or the north of town. Very upscale and clean. The morning breakfast was hot and fresh. Do not hesitate to ask COLTEN at the front desk for directions or food recommendations. Colten very helpful and friendly!
