We were quite disappointed. Although it's probably been 7-8 years, we have stayed at the Drake a couple of times in the past and thought it was wonderful so we decided to stay there again. First impression - we had 3 large bags and 2 sets of golf clubs, yet the valet attendant was completely disinterested and there was no bellman to help so we unloaded it all ourselves and had to go upstairs to find a bellman to help bring it to our room. For $75 a night parking, service should be MUCH better than that. We then got to our room and really liked the two bathrooms. However, the room itself seemed very dated and seemed poorly designed from a functionality standpoint. You couldn't watch the TV from the sofa at all, and to watch from the bed required physically lifting the TV and turning it. There were two chairs in the room but there was no lamp or other lighting nearby so there was no way to read anything while sitting in the chair without uncoiling the desk lamp cord and physically moving it from one corner of the desk to the exact opposite corner. We had dinner at Lou Malnati's the first night and came back with leftovers, only to find out that there was no refrigerator in the room. We checked with the front desk and were told it would be a $30 one time charge to get a refrigerator delivered. Really?? A Motel 6 provides a refrigerator, yet The Drake at $400 per night does not include one? Once again, we had high expectations but came away quite disappointed.

Hotel's Favourite
Ever since I moved to Chicago for my first job out of college, I have wanted to experience a weekend at The Drake. This weekend, we did it! Yes, we splurged for a room with a lake view. Yes, *worth it*. Watching the sun set, then rise again over the water was a meditative, beautiful escape. We stayed in the Gold Coast Suite. It’s is a calm, peaceful, and generous space. The Drake is over 100 years old - a living antique. As we settle into the gorgeous yet well worn rooms, the Japanese word kintsukuroi comes to mind❤️ The Gold Coast Suite is deep luxury, old luxury. The living room and bedroom have *separate temperature controls*. We made use of that every day. The jacuzzi is wonderfully generous. Deep enough to settle into up to our shoulders. Large enough for two large adults to use together, fully lying down and without overlapping limbs. The shower was excellent. Rain shower, instant water pressure, and towels on a rack in the shower with you. The living room includes a couch, a couple of stuffed chairs, and a round dinner table with 4 chairs. We invited another couple over to share the view (and eat carry out food from the Rosebud resturant next door) one evening, and saved the other two nights for ourselves. Highly recommend the Drake!

Love the Drake. Location is perfect for us: Close to our favorite restaurants, old friends, downtown, etc. Staff will always accommodate; if you need something just ask. And we’re enjoying amazing views of the Lake Michigan lakefront from our room.

Staff was extremely helpful and attentive to our needs. Communication was on point with daily messages letting us know water was available and little things and details that made the stay a great one. We want to acknowledge specially Dustin and Justin in the front desk for their great customer service skills and attitude toward us. I go to Chicago often and stay at different Hilton properties depending on my plans. I will know try and make a point to stay at the Drake to see Justin and Dustin

A beautiful historic hotel in downtown Chicago with impeccable service and amazing room. The staff all the way from the valet to the general manager have only one concern, YOU. This is the kind of place you always dream of going to. Also check out Coq d'Or.

I was here for a business conference for a couple of days and the service was just impeccable! I was initially booked into a standard king room and then all of a sudden on check-in I was booked into an enormous suite and then on the second day, I was upgraded into an even larger presidential style suite! The bellboys were super helpful and the food at the conference was to die for! The only recommendation I would make it having a room service menu, a fully stocked mini bar and staff bringing up goods to guests rooms (i ordered some uber eats and requested for some bottle water and I had to get it myself). The location is very central and close to all the key shops and attractions in downtown Chicago and on North Michigan. Will be back!!

The Drake is a classy hotel, well-appointed and nice rooms. For example, in the room, instead of a plastic ice bucket or tissue dispenser, they were made of metal. Walls had quality wallpaper not just painted. The staff was very good in terms of customer interaction. That said, there was serious understaffing of the front desk. Even outside of normal check-in/check-out times. there was a line of people waiting. In looking at the front desk, there was only one person there. One time I didn't see anyone there and just left! The other thing is that the Wi-Fi was too slow, I ran a speed test and download speed was less that 10Mg/second. Why doesn't a classy hotel have fiber internet that gives us speed in the 100mg range? The bed was quite comfortable but had trouble sleeping because my room was across the hall from the ice machine. Shockingly, the ice machine was not in a separate room but literally in the hallway! So the noise would occasionally wake me up. All that said, I would recommend staying at The Drake if your looking for a classic and classy hotel. Try to get a lakeside room as the view is amazing.

This hotel is located in the heart of downtown. Footsteps away from shopping, dining, the lake and pretty much everything. We had tea at Palm Court so it was convenient to walk downstairs and have tea. We also saw a play at Broadway Playhouse which was a 2 minute walk. My niece shopped at American Girl and we had brunch at Wildberry Pancakes and Cafe. Loved waking up to the sun rising with lake views. The furniture is outdated, but it offers so much more that it’s not a problem, I would definitely recommend friends and family to stay here. Also I want to mention the bellhop went out his way to help us and volunteered to take our picture before we left the hotel. Everyone was pleasant and made our time at the Drake enjoyable.
