I haven’t experienced this kind of excellence in a hotel in quite a while. Everything was great. The staff, from the housekeepers to the front desk to the bell men were so friendly and kind. The room service guy was gracious and a true trained server using the right hands to set down the tray, fix the place setting and get the beverage just right. The facilities are beautiful, the history and architecture are amazing. I stayed in a corner room in the executive tower. It was nicely decorated, clean and comfortable with a great view. The pool was so cool and fun. I highly recommend this hotel. I will be back.

The staff were phenomenal and truly made the stay worthy of 5 stars. Our plane got in a title early and my room was ready so I was able to check in early free of charge similarly with a slightly later flight out they let me check out late, again free of charge. I know this isn’t always possible but I helped my overall trip experience. I spent 5 nights there and the room was clean with no issues. I like having the option to choose whenever or not cleaning staff come daily. Some hotels don’t give you the option and even though I didn’t need to service daily it’s nice to know it’s available. Hard to beat the location, other properties say they are on the Miracle mile when they are several blocks off of Michigan ave, this property you walk out and you are on it. I was in town for some business items and if I ever make it back to Chicago I look forward to staying a this wonderful property again.

The staff were nice and accommodating for the most part. It is a good location which was the reason for booking here. However, the cons far outweighed the pros in this hotel. The street noise was super loud, as if there was zero noise control in the building itself. This could be due to being an older building though so it wasn’t the end of the world. The part of the stay that really ruined our experience was going to use the washroom the last night of our 3 night stay and seeing a cockroach. A large American cockroach. If I didn’t see this thing then we would’ve never known the room had them. This was truly awful and unsanitary. It made our skin crawl knowing we had stayed in a room with full blown cockroaches. We had to sterilize and sanitize all of our clothing and luggage to ensure we were not bringing home any of these bugs and/or their eggs. We were moved to another room on the other side of the building with no sign of cockroaches. Listen, I can appreciate that even 4 star hotels can run into this concern, however, I do not think it is acceptable to charge us for almost the entire stay and comp 1 night + the resort fees. I genuinely expected an entire refund. This really put a damper on our first stay in Chicago and we will not be returning nor recommending this hotel to anyone. Please note, our room number was 3504.

My daughter and I planned a quick night away (we live about 1 1/2 hours from downtown Chicago) to stay in a nice hotel and enjoy a little luxury. When we arrived we were given room 2005. I had paid in advance for a Premium Double room in the Executive Tower as all the reviews and the advertisement on the website showed that these rooms were larger, had walk-in showers and newer furnishings. Boy, was I surprised by how small the room that we received was. The double room did not have a walk-in shower as advertised, the blind was broken, the windows were dirty there were no blackout curtains and there was no seating area! If you wanted to take a look at the city view you couldn't as you had to lift the mesh blind covering (it was broken so you had to lift it with your hands) and then stick your head in front of it to see the views. When I spoke to the front desk later on, after stewing about the bathroom which was a big deal for me, the thought of soaking in an oversized tub and walking into a shower (I know, very small things) was something I was looking forward to. I spoke with a surly chap who was of no help. We are full he said. I paid $346 for one night (breakfast was included) which isn't cheap. I was looking forward to a sitting area in the room, as I had packed a board game to play but the only place we could play it was in the bed. The non-existent seating area was also so disappointing. Wished I had just stayed at home!

This is a lovely historic hotel on Michigan Avenue. It is a full service hotel and did not disappoint. In addition to a very clean room and a nicely updated modern decor, the Michael Jordan Steakhouse on the main floor offered a typical menu with outstanding execution. I give very high marks for the delicious Braised Short Ribs on pasta with a truffle butter sauce and side of brussel sprouts. A must-see is the eye-popping indoor swimming pool in the fitness center. I am sure you and your children will enjoy this amenity. In summary this is a hotel definitely worth exploring.

Four night stay at a renovated King Classic room in the Executive Tower. For this particular traveler, the room renovations celebrate form while sacrificing function.
How so? I have two main criticisms of the renovated King Classic rooms:
1/ Power outlets, including USB Type C, were only available through a combination clock radio located on the right side of the king sized bed. The left side had none. The under TV shelf likewise had zero outlets. People with more than two devices that require simultaneous charging will be forced to either charge the third, fourth devices using the outlet located in the bathroom or the wall outlet located close to the floor.
In summary, the number of available power outlets in the King Classic rooms are inadequate.
2/ The half partition shower guarantees a wet bathroom floor, especially if you run the shower at full strength and the shower head is positioned in such a way that the spray reaches the far end of the shower stall.
Other notes:
3/ The heater took a bit longer than usual to get water from cold to warm. In my book, the absence of a hand held, in addition to the fixed shower head, is also a missed opportunity.
4/ For a newly renovated room, I found the air conditioning to be louder than it should be. The noise did not prevent me from sleeping but I have stayed in other hotel rooms where the in room air conditioners are almost silent.
5/ When I checked-in, I had two bottles of shampoo and one conditioner, rather than the regular shampoo, shower gel and conditioner. I had to request housekeeping for a bottle of shower gel.
6/ The mini refrigerator is one of those auto-charging ones. Remove an item from its place for more than 30 seconds, you're charged for it. (There is a posted notice in the mini-bar.) Given that, I appreciated that the hotel allocates adequate space in the mini fridge for guests to store personal items.
7/ My King Classic room did not come with the usual toiletries (stuff like cotton buds), in-room slippers, or a luggage rack.
Weird, especially the absence of a luggage rack. I did not suggest house keeping for one and ended up using the round table as an improvised rack.
8/ I had breakfast at the hotel on 2 of my 4 days. On my first visit, I ordered off the menu. On the other, I chose the buffet.
The food was tasty overall. However, I found the breakfast space bland, interior design wise.
For an IC in the U.S., the offerings on the breakfast buffet were okay.
That's it. That's all I have to write.

This was the second time to stay at the Intercontinental and it did not disappoint. The hotel itself is lovely and inviting. Everyone from the man who hails your cab, the wait staff at the restaurants, and the reservation desk people are friendly and invested in your happiness. We have had upper rooms (-33 floor) They offer great views of the city especially at night, immaculately clean and plenty of towels. I love that hotels are now using shampoo and toiletries in reusable containers. Thanks for less waste on this planet. The bed was very comfortable with pillows that I like, but my husband prefers firm memory foam pillows which were not there. The elevators have a security feature which has you tap your room key and then press floor button. Being “mature (old) “ it took us a while to figure that out. I am sure it is a feature at most hotels, we just don’t travel all that much. The prices are average for a nice hotel on Michigan Avenue- not cheap for sure, but worth every penny in our opinion.

We stayed two nights in a recently renovated Grand Tower suite with two double beds. The room itself was spacious and very clean. My Ambassador status was honored, and as a welcome amenity, I chose complimentary drink coupons which we used at the fabulous bar at the Michael Jordan restaurant attached to the hotel. The bar had a really nice wine and cocktail list and the highly recommended Jumpman Cocktail did not disappoint. The bar staff were friendly and we will definitely stop by again when we are in town.
Our receptionist at check-in, Malcom, was gracious and attentive as was all the staff we encountered during our visit. The location cannot be beat and we enjoyed our time shopping at Nordstrom across the street as well as window shopping at the luxury shops scattered along the Magnificent Mile.
We visit Chicago frequently and have stayed at other hotels including some of the 5* hotels in Chicago. Because of the location, attentive staff, renovated rooms and value for money, I would likely choose the Intercontinental over them on my next visit.

Excellent hotel. Very well located, on the Magnificent Mile, two blocks from the river and 4 blocks from Navy Pier. A hotel with many amenities, and above all, impeccable, very clean rooms, the cleaning service is done daily, and I mention it because other hotels do not do it, unless the guest requests it. The price per night is not excessive, despite the good service they have and their location.

I believe they do, although I've never used one. Best to contact the hotel directly and ask. The rooms we were in this past week had sofa beds for the kids so we used those instead of roll-aways.
There are more places to choose from in the Chicago area.
