Hyatt Regency Chicago garners praise for its modern ambiance and central location, with guests appreciating the proximity to attractions and dining. Comfortable rooms with appealing designs and views are noted, though some guests mention soundproofing issues and variable housekeeping quality.
While the hotel's cleanliness and professional service are commended, the experience is sometimes marred by high noise levels and additional fees that affect the overall value perception. Despite the variety of amenities, the lack of a pool and cramped bathroom space have also been called out.

This hotel is located in a prime location right across from the Riverwalk & Michigan St. Centrally close to anything and within 20 minutes of most. The lobby is huge with a bar and restaurant that is opened from breakfast to dinner. A market and Stetson's restaurant. Take the escalator upstairs to registration and off to the side is a bigger bar. I believe this is the biggest Hyatt if not in the states, also in the world. I believe parking is like $70 per night, but if you are a Hyatt member, you get a discounted rate. The hotel is pretty modern looking with very nice decorations. There's an East and West wing. I was put in the West wing overlooking the Riverwalk and Michigan St. My king room was pretty big with an oversized chaise lounge chair. Though, I wish it was more firm. The bed was comfy, although I would have liked to have a firmer pillow. The bathroom was a good size with an adequate sink that has enough room to hold my toiletry items. I love that there's a ledge over the sink to hold more of your toiletries. The mirror has a built in clock. Shower pressure wasn't bad. Only issue was the toilet seat wasn't tightened down because it would move when I sit on it. So some things to know about this hotel, there is no pool or jacuzzi. They do not have room service and the WiFi speed for the free or $9.95 premium pricing is basically the same speed. Not sure if it's where my room is located as it was 2nd to the last. There is a fridge and safe in the room. There's also a good size desk to work on, though, the chair doesn't have any wheels on it so you can't move it around as easily. There's a Keurig looking machine for coffees or tea. Right next to the TV are power outlets with USB-A & USB-C ports. I was able to charge my MacBook Pro and other devices while plugged in. Now, one thing I really like about Hyatt is that their concierge and front desk staff was super informative and communicative. I love how someone from the Hyatt team reaches out prior to my stay to make sure I need everything and I have a point of contact if I need anything. The staff is very responsive whenever I pose a question through the chat using the Hyatt app. I have to say that Hyatt has the best customer service in this regard. It's also nice that this location has a Regency lounge for club members.

The location of this hotel is very central and convenient. We were only steps from the river and the bridge to the Magnificent Mile as well as easy walking distance to the architectural river boat tours, Chicago Art Institute, Navy Pier, etc. Our rooms were spacious, comfortable, and quiet, with gorgeous views of the river.
The hotel itself is large and modern although not especially charming or photogenic. The American Craft kitchen and bar in the main lobby offered good food and service for breakfast and lunch. Shoutout to the plentiful breakfast buffet. The BIG Bar also offered quality and service with plenty of seating available. Some of us wanted to try Stetson's Modern Steak and Sushi but were disappointed as it's not open every night.
If you'd like your room cleaned during your stay, I recommend requesting that when given the option on check-in. If you don't, you'll have trouble phoning down to get cleaning. Cleaners you approach in your hallway will either not speak English or be under strict orders to clean only certain rooms. We were unable to get room cleaning during our stay, although it wasn't a huge issue for us because we weren't in the rooms much.
Several delegates commented that the conference facilities were less than ideal, being two levels below ground and quite a walk from the main hotel. However, overall, we had a pleasant conference experience at the Hyatt.

Perfect landing for us, because, this is the first hotel we are staying in United States. We stayed in this hotel in May 2023 and we are really impressed by this property. I think there is no better location than this riverside property as most of the attractions are so nearby. Very close to the famous Magnificent Mile and many prominent landmarks of Chicago including Cloud Gate, Millennium Park, 360 Chicago, Buckingham Memorial Fountain, Navy Pier, Willis Tower etc. are all within walking distance.
Check-in was online, however, the front desk had very efficient and courteous staff giving you all necessary advice and support at any time. As it’s a huge property, the front desk is always busy. I was told that this hotel had the largest number of rooms in Chicago and had a bustling lobby, huge staircase and open ceilings.
Room was very spacious with a separate seating area and an office desk. Room was provided with a flat-screen TV, telephone, free Wi-Fi, alarm clock, refrigerator, coffee maker etc. Attached bathroom was also very big and neat with free toiletries, hairdryer etc.
We enjoyed our dinner and breakfast from American Craft Kitchen & Bar and the cocktails and beer from BIG Bar. Hotel has another restaurant Stetsons Modern Steak + Sushi, besides Market Chicago selling snacks, meals and Starbucks coffee.
One advantage of this hotel is that you rarely need a need a car here. If at all you need a cab, there are taxis waiting by the side of the hotel always. Public transport is also available within a few blocks of the hotel.
Overall, this property is worth the money you spent and would recommend anyone visiting Chicago.

I checked into my hotel room around 8pm, coming off an international flight. After consulting with the front desk attendant about a preferred room, I went off to rest. However, the room appeared as if it was either previously cleaned in a rush or not at all.
The toilet's back cover was stained with flecks. The bathroom's vanity was very dusty, as if the room was untouched for a extended amount of time. Underneath the bed, I identified an empty candy wrapper.
I immediately went back down to the front desk to inquire about housekeeping coming through to freshen up the room. I spoke with a separate attendant who assured me housekeeping would clean my room while I ran out for food; along with dropping off an additional laundry bag. Now imagine my pure shock when I returned to an untouched room sans laundry bag. Unfortunately, this story doesn't improve as the next day my room was also ignored by regular housekeeping. As a result, I avoided my hotel room for the entire length of my stay except for sleeping purposes.
It is extremely disrespectful and disgusting for a client to be treated this way. For the amount of money one dishes for the "privilege" of experiencing your brand and amenities, clean rooms should be provided at a bare minimum. Not to mention, the potential business that was missed due to the lack of laundry charges.

The hotel is located in the center (and this is its main strong point), but not near the subway. Some buses pass, but you have to check carefully on the transport website. Even if there is no indication about it inside the structure, the hotel has an underground connection with the Pedway, a set of underground pedestrian tunnels (not well signposted) which can make you reach the metro more easily (but be careful not to get lost) and some shops. In particular, practically under the hotel there is a Dunkin Donuts for a cheap breakfast: entered from the main entrance on the ground floor, turn left and you will find, near the bathrooms, a staircase that goes down: take it, then turn right and immediately left, you will see it a few steps away. Inside the hotel there are some expensive restaurants and several relaxation areas where you can sit freely. There is no free tea or coffee dispenser available and no microwaves are available to customers (as always happens in lower level categories). However, there is a huge restaurant room that can be reached from the reception floor on the right (crossing the bridge that leads to the secondary building) which, not being always used, when closed is used by many customers to eat take-away food at the table . There might be, but I'm not sure, also a microwave available there. Very nice, for those who are interested, is the gym with respectable machinery and plenty of towels available. The most sore point is the room, unacceptable for a 4 star (almost for a 3). The size was decent, but still not enough for a 4 star superior. The bathroom was terrible. A small, old bathtub, a tiny (RV-sized) sink, and a makeup mirror with a broken joint that caused it to hang downwards. As a support I only have a small wooden table with two shelves (the one below occupied by clean towels). And here's the icing on the cake. 2 night stay with specific request not to have the room cleaned in the morning so as not to be disturbed. The first morning we go down to get our Donut in the basement and eat it at the tables available in the hall. We go back to the room and shortly after the phone rings, they call us to ask us if by chance we had purchased something (in the restaurant or in the minibar, my husband who answered didn't understand well) for breakfast so as to immediately charge it to our bill (obviously the answer it was negative because we hadn't taken anything). Good thing we were already awake, but what if we wanted to sleep longer? we would have been woken up for this! It's absurd that in a "luxury" facility they call your room in the morning to ask for something like that!!! Overall, I can't recommend this property.

Hyatt Regency Chicago is my #1 place to stay when visiting the Windy City! The guest service experience always exceeds my expectations. The employees always do their best to anticipate and accommodate my needs. The rooms are always very clean and are pretty big for a hotel in downtown Chicago. The heat/air unit is easy to operate so your room temperature is to your liking. Even though this is a very large hotel, rooms are very quiet. It usually feels like you are the only person there, once you are in the room. There are some rooms with excellent views of the city/river/lake. Each room has a refrigerator and very large tv. The lighting is designed well, from task lights for reading to relaxing lights for ambience in the room. There are multiple electrical outlets and charging ports for all your needs. I always enjoy my stay here and feel comfortable and at home.

A complete end-to-end event hotel. Top reasons this hotel is a great choice for a stay in Chicago:
1. Location. The location cannot be beat. On the Chicago River. One block from Michigan Avenue. Two blocks from the Millennium Park and the “bean” (Cloud Gate). Ten blocks to Watertower Place.
2. Comfort. The beds are so comfortable. You may sink into them after a long flight and never want to leave.
3. Design. The room design is like a living room with attention to detail in the bathroom. The ledge under the vanity mirror. The clock under the mirror. The wide screen tv and the luggage space under it. The lighting and the ability to adjust to various needs during your stay. It feels like a well-traveled designer gave thought to the room experience!
4. Amenities. The hotel has ample space to meet up for conversations. The market in the lobby for a quick breakfast takeout. The fitness center! The restaurants and the bar. All thoughtfully appointed to accommodate travelers or event attendees.
5. The staff. Every single person was welcoming! From the door man, to the front desk to the housekeeping staff. I think this property recognizes the importance of their guests and the hospitality they give in welcoming and accommodating them!

I have been coming here for years for a convention and it is consistently excellent. Requests for a feather-free room are always honored (they have one floor of rooms for guests requesting this service), unlike most other chains where it is hit and miss. Plus, the restaurant, American Craft, while not inexpensive, is consistently excellent. The matzoh ball/kreplach soup was like home cooking, as was everything else. The fitness room is clean and large, and the staff is universally friendly. Our convention is moving to a larger venue next year, and I will miss the hotel.

Had a great stay here on a recent Thursday - Sunday, after getting a very solid deal for this property using Priceline. When we arrived there were only a few people ahead of us to check-in. We were offered several upgrade options including a river or downtown view for something like $25 extra per night which we passed on, or a higher floor for $5 extra per night, which we took. We were given a room on the 35th floor with a great view of the lower part of the city, lower section of the Chicago River and Navy Pier in the slight distance. The room was recently updated, but to be frank, I wasn't a fan of the decor. The former color scheme and carpet I've seen in photos seemed warm and cozy. The new design is modern, but it looked much like an HGTV-inspired quick house flip... grey walls and light-grey furniture, and with the grey laminate wood floors and an area rug around the bed, it looked and felt more like a stark college dorm room or cheap apartment than an upper-end, tastefully appointed hotel. Internet was plenty fast, the TV had a good variety of channels and we made use of the in-room Keurig machine each morning of our stay here. The bed was comfortable, but the A/C didn't keep the room very cool and the fan sounded like a jet engine.
The restaurant/bars in the expansive lobby were quite large, they had tons of TVs for watching sports at the "BIG Bar" and they have an on-site steakhouse and a souvenir shop, all of which offered discounts to people staying at this property. One thing I thought was interesting is that they did charge a "destination fee" of $25 per day to stay here, but that also gave guests at this hotel $25 in daily credit to be used at the on-site bars or restaurants. The bridge between the 2 hotel towers is set up for business travelers with several workstations and laptop-friendly seating, and power and USB charger outlets.
This hotel is only a few blocks away from Millennium Park where you'll find The Bean (Cloud Gate), Pritzker Pavilion and a few other attractions, and directly across the street from stairs that lead down to the Riverwalk. There are lots of restaurants, bars and activities within easy walking distance of this hotel - It's in a great location for sure. When ready to check out they were happy to keep our luggage for a few hours, but when we initially asked for late check out due to our later flight departures, they first wanted to charge us a significant amount for much later check out (a few hours later than we actually needed), before relenting and giving us complimentary check out at 1 p.m.

We take an annual trip during Christmas to shop and see the holiday displays on State St. and Michigan Ave. We always stay at the Hyatt because of it's location, quality of the rooms and the outstanding staff. We have never had a bad experience staying there. The easy access to the Pedway is also a plus to stay out of the cold when going to Macy's and other stores on State St. Looking forward to returning in 2025.

Yes I do recall that the service does allow you to receive packages. As long as the weight of the total packages doesn't exceed a maximum weight it is a free service. However,I cannot answer the question about how many days prior to your arrival that the hotel will receive your packages.
