Thank you for making our trip to Chicago amazingly special! I mentioned that she was turning 7 during our trip and we found balloons, cupcakes and a sweet note in our room upon check-in. My daughter was over the moon at the effort the hotel staff made for her special day.
I paid premium prices for my stay and ended up on the 10th floor out of the 34 floors available, with a view of a buildings cement roof. I asked the manager to move me to a room with a better view and was told they had inventory but wanted to charge me extra, even though they have rooms still available online advertised for much less. Next time I'll pick another hotel that doesn't try to nickel and dime you when you're all ready paying top dollar and they admit they have extra rooms.
My significant other and I stopped by the the Bar at the Royal Sonesta in downtown Chicago and Michael greeted us and served us on Saturday June 25th. It was a rainy day and we were out just trying different places in between showers. Our visit turned out to be the absolute best of our stay because of Michael. His courtesy, sense of humor and being so eager to make sure we were taken care was just really special. We felt happy when we left and have been talking about it all day today. I just wanted to let someone know how very special he is and how he makes your establishment very memorable. We didn’t stay there this trip but have decided next trip we will definitely consider it. I found the hotel on Trip Advisor, with folks touting the great views -- did not disappoint!!!! We were lucky and got an amazing corner room on the 27th floor and had the most amazing view down the river of the Chicago skyline. While the hotel would be worth it just for that -- we also loved the convenience and great location to be a Chicago tourist. The staff were also nice and helpful. While we didn't ask a lot of staff, they helped us a few times with cabs and questions.
I came to the hotel in distress because the airline left my luggage in Texas. Brittany gave me a suite to make my travel great. She also delivered my luggage when it arrived. She's amazing. Best manager ever. Thank you Brittany, you rock! Paris thank you again for being friendly as well.
Room was nice and clean. Seating was strange, one chair to sit in and only one chair for high table. There is a bench in a narrow space which is weird. No work space if you are a business traveler.
My team and I needed a touchdown break before a full day of meetings and popped into Hoyt's for a round of brunch drinks and apps (yes we were working on a Sunday - Trade show life!). Michael F and his support staff, including the floor manager, welcome us in and took great care of us! Professional and caring service! Thanks!
The Royal Sonesta Downtown is a great place to stay in Chicago. It is located next to the river walk and Michigan Ave. Many restaurants, stores and other sites are a very short walk away. Rooms were bright, clean and spacious. There was a coffee maker and mini fridge in the room and a large flat screen tv. Wifi was also provided. There was a large bank of elevators that moved quickly. Staff was very helpful with recommendations, getting a taxi to the airport and printing boarding passes. The location is perfect for your Chicago visit.
Although the elevator is a bit loud that we heard quite a bit and the hotel does need to replace its infrastructure in this regard, the rooms that face the river have a beautiful, beautiful view and our room was lovely. More impressive is Brittany and the staff. Brittany at the front desk couldn't have been kinder as I was very weary upon checking in, and she saw too it that I got food and beverage immediately, as well as quickly recommending a great place to eat that was exactly what we needed after a long first day of travel. And everyone else I interacted with was very nice as well. They were prompt with any requests, did it with a smile, and I would go back. The location is absolutely perfect if you want to hit the town within ease.
The staff was very pleasant! Beautiful lobby, willing to accomodate to the guests as much as they can! Some feedbacks I have is that they dont do room service/cleanup when requested, and we had to request for the trash to be taken out and bath towels changed... It would be great to have this as an option. Elevators didn't work during the hour of checkout and had to take the stairs from the 30th floor.
