We stayed 2 nights as we were in Chicago to see a Cubs game. This is a wonderful B&B with charm, a friendly staff, and an amazing breakfast to order in the morning! There are garages available on a first-come basis, which we weren't able to get but there is ample street parking available. Neighborhood was great with lots of restaurant choices for dinner. For us, it was a quick Uber ride to Wrigley and easy access downtown. Breakfast was amazing...had an omelet the first day and then they had bacon pancakes as a special the next day (it was my birthday and who wouldn't want to start off their birthday with bacon pancakes!). Wonderful experience and would definitely go back next time I am in Chicago!
This is our second visit staying at Ray's B&B in Bucktown. Ray's is a short walk to our son's place and has officially become our "home away from home" in Chicago. On this visit we stayed in the WEST ROOM under the kitchen. It is a small oddly shaped room with the on suite bath down a very narrow hallway... but the layout worked out OK for two adults and two children. Our girls loved the bunk beds and the queen bed was fine for the adults. We hardly noticed any noise at all from the kitchen on the first floor. Everyone slept very well - the West Room was warm and cozy on a few very cold Chicago nights. Once again Ray's breakfast delivered. This is the first time for the girls and they loved having pancakes and eggs. The eggs benedict was lovely and the omelets are HUGE. Bottom line... Ray's is great. Ray's is great for couples and for families. Ray's is eclectic and unique. Go to Ray's!!! We've tried two different rooms so far and will continue checking out a different room with each stay. Can't wait for the weather to warm up; we will be back at Ray's in 2022. I really need to get to see a Cubby Game... been way too long. For those who don't have a relative living nearby, you should definitely consider staying at Ray's B&B as your "base of operations" for your Chicago visit. Ray's is convenient to Wriggly Field, Downtown Chicago, and Lincoln Park. You can walk to the BLUE LINE (O'Hare, Downtown). There are great restaurants in the area. A cab to Michigan Ave was only $15. There is FREE street parking in the neighborhood.…
Great place to stay in Bucktown. Friendly and helpful staff. Delicious breakfast. Interesting finds to look at in Ray’s collections all over the inn. They even let us borrow a cooler for a roof top celebration of our son’s engagement. Lots of good restaurants and bars in the area and within walking distance of the blue line.
Ray's was simple awesome. We stayed here because it is close to our son. The Bucktown area is very nice and family oriented. People always walking their dogs and playing with their children in the local parks. The breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed everything we tried. Omelets cooked to order, fresh french toast, fresh fruit, and the list goes on and on. We stayed in the Eagles nest which had a king sized bed and a twin, mini fridge, desk and very deep tub. We had the best time just exploring. Every time we went thru we seemed to notice something new. We will definitely stay here again
We stayed in the woodpecker room and it could not have been more perfect! The room was so cute and the perfect amount of space for us, we loved the oversized tub! The whole house was super cute and fun to explore we didn’t even realize they had a sauna which we found while exploring! The house is filled with every type of collection you could think of and the breakfast was top notch! My favorite was avocado toast and ask for goat cheese on top! The staff was friendly and sweet and we had a lovely time. It is in a really ideal location too and we even got to park in a garage. Just a few miles from the Chicago city center, I would recommend public transport because parking in Chicago sucks, but at rays it was plentiful. They even left us chocolates and a happy honeymoon note. We will definitely be back!…
A refreshing eclectic stay in a quiet neighborhood away from the hustle and bustle of the city. They are very nice and the breakfast is better than any B&B I stayed at in Ireland. If in town a must stay!
Loved this place. Management went out of their way to secure us a garage space for the night for our car loaded for an apartment move in the next day. Location is easy walking distance to stores and restaurants. The breakfast was awesome.
Ray and his staff were very friendly and made us exceedingly welcome. This place is a delight to stay at - lots of artwork everywhere, quirky but very homely. The breakfasts which are included are great - I had fabulous french toast and bananas but you could have virtually anything you wanted. Highly recommended!
The location and food were great. The rooms and the building are really cool. The parking is really convienient because you can park for free and get the bus or subway downtown. I would definitely stay here again.
Why stay at a hotel which is like all the others when you can make where you're staying part of the vacation itself. Perfect for a change of pace business trip as well. It's small, eclectically decorated, pet friendly, and the breakfasts are fantastic ( not your ordinary bacon & eggs or croissant fare). The staff are welcoming and proficient.
