Polished and refined hotel convenient 0.5 mile walk to Millennium Park and the art museum. Check-in was easy and the front desk staff was pleasant. The room was on an interior loop which was a little bit of a fishbowl view with other rooms, but luckily there were blackout curtains which I had drawn basically the whole time.

Most of the things inside the room made sense: light switches on the lamps; good desk area for working; sofa chair at the end of the bed 2// comfortable. Room looked classy and tactful and not overdone. The one miss was the alcove with the coffee machine which was dark and difficult to plug in the machine. The room was large enough that it could have worked for two people. Bed was very comfortable and the reading lights were perfect.

Closet had a robe and slippers, as well as an ironing board which worked well.

Bathroom had aromatherapy amenities in large bottles that were not attached to the wall, but a nice sign beside the sink indicated that if one takes a bottle, it’s a $45 charge 😬. But shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel were fine and not over-perfumed; lotion on the sink was good. Towels were fluffy and luxurious. There was also a deep soak tub which I did not use.

Easy to get a cab in front (which is right across the street from the W hotel).

Checkout was quick. Gym was large but also pretty crowded; wasn’t able to use it on this trip.

Overall enjoyable stay, I would come back!

I was here a few weekends ago as part of a wedding party and was a little nervous because of some of the negative reviews on here. Overall, though, this hotel easily surpassed my expectations and I was happy with my stay.

A few days prior to my arrival I received an email asking if I had any special requests. I told them I wanted a king size bed on a higher floor with a view. They responded to me that they would try to honor the request.

On check-in, we got exactly that. A nice king size bed, spacious room, with an outdoor view. Everything about the room was totally comfortable. Bed comfortable, I liked the marble bathroom with toilet separate, and the walk in shower. The walk in shower was especially good as there was a lip on the shower floor that prevented water from spilling out. I've been in too many hotels where there's no lip and water just spills out onto the floor. So this was a detail I appreciated.

It's Covid time so I completely undersand that hotels are stretched. I know that a lot of hotels around the country are not providing housekeeping on a daily basis due to staffing issues. They didnt mention this when we checked in. That said, though it came late, they did clean our room and did a good job of it, so I was happy.

Others have mentioned service quality issues. I did not have that experience. My partner and I noticed quickly that the coffee provided in the room was decaf only. I called the service desk and asked for a few pods of regular coffee and it was quickly brought to our room. So that was nice.

The only issue I had with the room was the towels in the bathroom. They were just thin and not very plush. For a hotel aiming for the quality it's aiming for I'd expect better towels. But this is a minor issue I had.

This hotel's location worked perfectly for my needs as it was close to the wedding event venues. I also use to work in the Willis Tower just nearby so was well aware of the location. This location works if you need to be in the center of the loop or west loop. It's not as good if you are in Chicago for things along the Magnificent Mile or the North side. Just keep that in mind.

Overall, I was happy with my stay at this hotel and would recommend it if you need to be in the loop area.

Entered into beautiful lobby with inviting bar/ lounge area.
Checked in with Chtistof, more business like than welcoming, but did mention my loyalty and explained gym and club lounge.
Room was nice sized with 2 queen beds, nice linens and comfortable.
Outlets and USBs at bedside.
Bathroom had stand up shower stall, separate bathtub, double sink, and toilet room.
Very nice shampoo/ conditioner/ body wash.
**The club lounge- nice breakfast with eggs, sausage, oatmeal, bagels, toast, fantastic cappuccino machine.
The only snacks in afternoon were oranges and apples, I more expected chips, nuts.., something more substantial. Evening appetizers were very nice , meatballs, cheese, veggies, risotto cake. Alcohol Is available for purchase and the House white and House red are only $5.
Refrigerator always full of soft drinks and water.
Dessert- this was a bit of a challenge. We arrived after our dinner , around 7:55, and all desserts were gone. When I asked the attendant about that, he stated no more would be put out. A few more people entered and left disappointed. Dessert is supposed to be from 7;30 to 9. I contacted the team via chat and they immediately rectified the situation and more desserts appeared . *I really hated to complain about an amenity that we appreciate ( club lounge)
Parking seemed outrageous at $80/nt, but I suppose this is the big city!
A few restaurants within walking distance, including Giodanos pizza ( great !)
Housekeeping was great and prompt.

Hotel Location & Check In: The JW Marriott Chicago was selected due to its convenient location being within the Loop and offering potential use of my platinum 5-night upgrade. But this was declined the day before arrival and inability to change within the cancellation period. My first impression was negative, the hotel was surrounded by taller buildings and scaffolding and I experienced a long wait due to the computer reservation system being down with reservations entirely from paper printouts.

Room: Upon walking into my room, my view was faced dead center with the wall of the neighboring office building, offering no privacy and absolutely no view, from top to bottom, left to right, office windows and a wall, close enough to see workers faces, quite depressing. The room had high ceilings and a spacious bathroom with a full glass shower and soaking tub, but the room felt slightly cramped and not like its posted mid 400 sq ft, more like low 300 sq ft. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were flat and needed 3 to 4 stacked. The desk was narrow and faced directly to the wall.

Lounge: The lounge was on the top 12th floor, also with no view, and offered several hot selections for breakfast and hors d'oeuvres Sunday through Thursday evenings. Mondays to Fridays were business-like and peaceful, but weekends and holidays were packed with families with young children. The one guest policy was obviously not enforced. The lounge was closed and locked at noon on Friday and Saturday.

Amenities: The gym was well stocked with free weights, machines and treadmills, but it was in the basement, along with a pool, with no natural light.

Service: Service was adequate, quick upon request, but not proactive. Staff in general were not outwardly friendly and smiling, only a few exceptions. My room was made up after 4PM for each of the 6 nights, once it was skipped, inconsistent with the stocking of water/towels, and once I had to call to request service.

Overall - Would I stay here again - Likely not, the convenient location was outweighed by the many inconveniences and being in a cramped-feeling room/working space and no view.

The hotel is a nice facility but there were a few service issues that you don't expect from a JW Marriott. First of all we booked a rollaway bed but when we called to request it to be delivered, they said they couldn't put a rollaway bed in our room due to fire hazard code. We were counting on the bed for our three children so this was disappointing to not be told ahead of time that the bed wouldn't be allowed after we reserved it as we would have chosen a different hotel. On top of that, they CHARGED us $56 for the rollaway bed (which they refused to give us). We're still waiting for the refund of the bed that we wanted but they wouldn't give us!! Also when we got there, we had two rooms reserved and one was ready at check in time but the other was not ready until after the 4 pm check in time, and they never called us to tell us it was ready, i had to keep calling the front desk to inquire on status. Oh, and the phone system is messed up - if you press "guest services" on the phone in your room, sometimes you get guest services/front desk but most of the time you are connected to the valet, who can't help, and tell you to hang up and press zero instead (which just gets you an operator). I felt really bad for the valet guys answering the phone. The Executive lounge breakfast/snacks were just ok, a bit underwhelming compared with other JW or even regular Marriott hotels.

We stayed there wondering the whole time, if anyone who works here is not miserable. everyone from the begining check in person, to the man who brought up the robes that were not in the room, to the waitress in the restaurant all made us feel like such a burden. The man in the spa was a shining exception.
we were put in an ADA room with stool in the shower. We didn't complain till the bath would not empty, the hair dryer would not work, and the a/c would no go on. we called to see if we could move to a regular room, the front desk said they were "fully committed" but we could come down and talk to them. we very reluctantly got another room.

This was a very bad experience. I would not go back, especially since we have stayed in such nice hotels in chicago loop before.

We are devoted Marriott members especially after purchasing our timeshare at oceanfront Aruba.
We always choose Marriott first.
My company had a holiday corporate event in Chicago, and my wife and I decided to stay at the hotel.
The hotel was very nice. We decided to stay and eat at the hotel for lunch ($200) and then ordered room service twice later on in the day.
It was very comfortable and nice.
What upset us was when leaving the hotel, we had to pay $80 to park. We do not usually complain, as we are not frugal. $80 to park especially when staying at the hotel and spending a lot of money there seems unreasonable. We were very disappointed. That has never happened to us at a Marriott.

I’m a loyal Marriott traveler and have never been so disappointed with a stay. The level of service is like a two star hotel when we paid a premium to stay here being marathon weekend. When we arrived no one was outside to hep us with our luggage, not once was there a bell man to hail a cab either. It’s marathon weekend, we have an infant, and prior to arrival I asked for a late check out so I could finish the race and allow our daughter to have a nap before flying home. At first, the late check out was granted, something they always do for Elite members, then they rescinded it. When I inquired they said I could pay $180 to stay until 6:30 pm, but no they wouldn’t extend a complimentary late check out. Clearly there is room available, they are just trying to pinch more money off their loyal customers. Tonight, the night before the marathon, I asked room service to deliver a bowl, coffee mug and spoon and they told me I had to come downstairs to get it, as they didn’t have someone to bring it up to us. When my husband went down, he was given a plastic bowl and paper cup. For platinum elite members Marriott always provides room upgrades when available. It’s a busy weekend, so I understand that, but the room we were given was garbage. It is dated and has a view of other hotel rooms. I will never stay here again and it really makes me wonder about how JW’s as a brand are managed.

The hotel is attractive, clean and well organized. The room was the same. Nice deep bath tub, efficient, clean, well outfitted room. At over $300 for a Friday night I would have expected more though. Maybe a jetted tub, complimentary beverages, more channels on the TV, a room with a view....something! The shower door could swing in or out. There was about a 1/2-3/4" gap under the door. When I finished with my shower I found a puddle that extended into the hallway. It took several towels and the bath mat to soak it up. That shorted us towels for the morning. Parking was validated at a ramp around the corner. That was worth about $40-50 at cheaper hotels.
We had dinner that night. My wife and I had the same. I don't remember what it was called, but it was a fettuccine type pasta, red sauce, muscles, three large shrimp, one large scallop, two soft drinks, two milk, and one order of chicken strips. They started with 6 small slices of bread. equal to two in most Italian restaurants. The fettuccine meal would have almost fit in one cupped hand. Take the shells off the muscles and definitely would have fit in one hand. The wait staff kept flittering in trying to grab dishes before we finished probably 5-6 times. Dessert wasn't offered. We asked. We had a tiny slice of chocolate cake (mudslide?) with a tiny scoop of ice cream. I guess it wasn't meant for sharing. All of that for over $120 before the tip. I think someone must be pretty full of themselves in thinking THAT food was worth THAT much.
All in all it wasn't an unpleasant stay or meal. Just way over priced

Big bold rooms, quiet, clean and close to everything. Booked this hotel to be close to work and was happily rewarded with a great stay. With executive lounge status (it's open, friendly, coffee and fruit, and with great breakfast and evening hors d'oeuvres!), I was really fortunate to receive exceptional hospitality from Katie and Heidi during my first night stay. Katie went out of her way to ensure I had something vegetarian/non dairy to eat when the Lounge was serving really beautiful looking meat options. She even checked to see that the yummy salad she had provided met my needs!

In the morning, my delight was amplified from the service from Elizabeth who also went above and beyond to ensure I was well fed and ready for a big day of meetings. Throughout my stay, staff were cleaning the hotel/lounge to ensure it was safe and masks are required (they will provide a disposable mask, should you need one).

Whatever the JW Marriott is doing to retain these exceptional hospitality staff....Bravo!!! Thanks for an amazing stay and for having an OPEN exec lounge as this is an amenity I truly appreciate when traveling.

Gym is huge and open 5a - 10 p. It was totally empty at 5 am - very clean with water and towels provided. Tons of weights and machines.

We went to a really fun rooftop bar next to the Art Institute. I can't remember the name but you could see the Art Institute from the roof. It's toward Millennium Park. Perhaps the hotel staff would know the name.
