There is an air of stress free stay in this beautiful BB. Don was ready to assist if needed. From fresh juice to the sitting areas, the place was a joy. Only let down was spending only one night. Look forward to returning soon.

What a tremendous facility Villa D'Citta is. My wife and I met three friends for a 5-day sightseeing visit in Chicago. After a lot of research we chose VD'C based on its outstanding reviews and location (near Lincoln Park, excellent restaurants, safety, etc.). From our initial greeting (by Donald) to our fantastic breakfasts (by Rosa), all five days were relaxing and enjoyable. Our rooms (Florencia, Milan and Venetian) were beautiful and comfortable. We received great feedback from both sets of friends as to how happy they were with VD'C. I recommend Villa D'Citta without hesitation to anyone seeking a wonderful lodging experience in Chicago.

My wife and I stayed three nights here for our 10th anniversary. It was absolutely perfect for us. While we had originally booked their largest suite, the owner asked if we'd be willing to change rooms so a larger family from out of the country could utilize the single suite instead of having to be split up. It was completely our choice, and the owner didn't pressure us at all. We willingly elected to stay in the Milan Suite and it was as luxurious and comfortable, exceeding any expectations. The owner worked with us to make sure we were taken care of in response to our willingness to move. The kitchen, grotto, and jacuzzi area were magnificent. The kitchen was filled with all that you need to make a sandwich or panini with bread, meats, and cheeses from local markets. The prepared breakfasts on Friday and Saturday were an added plus. The area around the b&b was quiet, particularly compared to being downtown. We enjoyed walking to the Lincoln Park Zoo and observatory, both of which are free. We ate at several local restaurants, and were particularly fond of our experience at Chez Moi. Don and his staff were wonderful. The only thing we think would have improved our stay would be a small refrigerator in the room so we could store beverages or leftovers closer than the kitchen. This, however, was not an inconvenience that made our stay less enjoyable. Our visit at Villa D'Citta exceeded our high expectations and we cannot wait to return.

We had a great stay - Villa D’ Citta is warm & welcoming, SO much better than a hotel or “normal” AirBnB. The warm breakfast prepared every morning was a delight as was having beverages & snacks available anytime. We loved chatting with other guests. Highly recommend staying here for any trips to Chicago!

We loved the seclusion and quirkiness of our room (Caesar's Lair) as well at the hotel overall. The kitchen amenities are great for night owls and the staff were kind and helpful throughout the whole visit. This is the closest you will come to staying a t B&B castle in Chicago. The breakfast pizza so good!

We stayed on a Sunday night in late September. I loved the place itself, loved the bedroom and separated bath, loved the common area and the hot tub upstairs was great! SO relaxing up there! I do have to say though, I wish staff have been a little bit more attentive. We were staying for one night, on a Sunday. When I called to ask about parking, they said street parking is free as long as you can find a spot, otherwise they had secure parking for $30. We found a spot right in front of the building. We looked at the permanent signs that were up and saw nothing with restrictions. The next morning we came out to a $60 parking ticket. There was literally almost a piece of paper taped around the pole that warned you about street parking. No permanent sign that most people would be looking for. Now, if you have a guest staying on a Sunday and especially for one day, when they ask about parking, why are you not telling them about street sweeping on Monday!? I could have stayed in secure parking lot and not paid that much! Chicago is not cheap in the first place and to end my trip with that was just very disappointing.

Response from Villa D' Citta, Owner at Villa D'Citta

Jamie, we appreciate your kindness towards the Villa. We would be more than happy to make up for your loss, in your next visit to Chicago. On Brooke' behalf, she takes public transportation to and from the Villa, and was not aware of the street cleaning on Mondays, at the time. The city of Chicago changes what it does and how it does it on an ongoing basis. Once again, I would be more than happy to cover the 60$ on your next visit! :)

A great location and an excellent common area on the first level. A full kitchen, gathering space, outside grotto and availability anytime. The owner is on site and takes care of things as needed. It is fairly priced as well. This was our first visit to this property, but we will come back.

If you are looking for an incredible hospitality experience, you need to stay at the Villa D’Citta. It’s a hidden gem with so much historic ambiance. Beyond just the breathtaking property, the amenities are clean, gorgeously designed, and made us feel so homely. The cherry on top of the experience, was Brooke herself. She was caring, charismatic, helpful, attentive, and organized, I could go on about her but I just hope everyone who stays here has the pleasure of being taken care of by Brooke.

Loved the location and entrance of the home. Once we entered things changed. Elevator has been out of service since July, making us carry our luggage. ( handrails were very loose going up to second floor. Our room needed the following: lightbulbs for light on nightstand. Instructions to operate the fireplace, the bed pillow were so thin, you could tie them in a knot. We requested extra towels, took two days to receive them. It is advertised afternoon wine. We were told the wine dispenser was not working, waiting for delivery? There is a liquor store down the street. You would think the mgr would buy a few bottles for the quests. The final straw was when We witnessed the two staff member having a beer by the hot tub. We really wanted to love the Villa, just very disappointed.

It’s 2am and the cleaning crew is downstairs yelling at each other and dragging stuff around. party guests were screaming at each other until around 1am. I’m not sure how they could book us a room and not tell us there was a party scheduled. It’s just a big house, not some soundproof hotel. They just don’t care. Find someplace else to stay.

Response from Villa D' Citta, Owner at Villa D'Citta
Responded 26 Mar 2022
We are so sorry you've experienced this while staying with us at the Villa. We were unaware of any of our staff members partying into and through the midnight hour. I will take your word for it and can assure you that our current housekeeper is a mother of four, and putting her kids through college. Therefore, I can assure you this would not happen again. We would like the opportunity to change your opinion about the Villa, the way over 400 fellow reviewers on Trip Advisor have. Please call us to make this right.
