Clean, large unit, comfortable bed, very quiet and complimentary breakfast was delish. Owner was very nice with a flexible check-in. Tip - walk to Halstead (few blocks away) for the best options on food and beverages.
Our family of four stayed at The Polo Inn and it felt like we were staying with family or close friends. The Mayor's Suite is immaculate and feels like being at "home." The owner and manager are so personal and made sure we had everything we needed. Each morning, they asked what we were up to and gave us tips and tricks for parking, etc. By the way, when you stay at the B&B, you get treated to a magnificent meal, which always include their FRENCH TOAST! Wow, we've never had anything like it! We'll be back! -Melody, Dean, Lincoln & Walter
First time in Chicago, taking train trip west, so we had 2 nights and 1 day in the area. Our host Dave was extremely helpful, we arrived late on Saturday evening so he helped us find an excellent restaurant that was open later and even drove us down! He gave us the Mayor’s room which was large and very interesting. Dave also gave us history of the neighborhood which gave us a local vibe. We also had the Gospel Buffet on Sunday morning, the food was excellent and the music was vey good. Once again a unique vibe of locals and visitors seemed to attend. Can’t leave out Martin either who got our bags to our room and was our waiter during brunch…(Order the eggs Benedict for a unique tradition, we got to witness!) When we come back to Chicago we will stay here longer
This historical bed and breakfast is such a delightful and refreshing home/restaurant. We were graciously greeted by the owners 7 year old nephew who is SO talented with his violin. We could have spent an hour listening to his vocabulary and music. He will be an incredible young man! Anyway......we walked up the old creaking stairs to Suite 2. It was a nice 2 bedroom apartment with kitchen and a beautiful ball and claw bathtub. It was evening time when we walked thru the beautiful neighborhood to a chinese restaurant two blocks away. The beds were comfortable and clean and amazingly quiet. Parking is very convenient in large lot aside of the building. BREAKFAST!!!!! OMG....we thought we were dreaming people! We were served THE BEST toasted cinnamon french toast EVER! Topped off with an omelet made to order with nice thick crispy bacon, homemade hashbrowns, a dish of fresh fruit, any fruit juices available but I chose mango juice and coffee/tea. There is SO much history in this restaurant and it shows with all of the photos on the walls. I know we will return to do more exploring and EATING! Thank you Polo Inn Bridgeport. …
Excellent stay. Dave Samber, owner and his staff were welcoming and treated you like family. Very friendly and personable. Cooked to order breakfasts were delicious. On our last day, Chef Dave prepared a special dish served with the best French Toast we’ve ever had. Very interesting history. Our family came for Bears vs Saints football game and we had a wonderful time. The two suites we shared were perfect for our reunion.
Unique property on the South Side, where hotel options are very limited. An old building with modern amenities, and so much room. Our suite had a kitchenette, bathroom, two large walk-in closets, a bedroom with two twin beds, and an enormous bedroom with a queen size bed, 2 recliners, and a big screen tv. Lots of dressers and night stands. Two window air conditioners and ceiling fans. The Polo has its own off street parking lot, a huge plus for an urban neighborhood. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. In easy walking distance of friendly bars, & coffee shops, plus a unique clothing boutique across the street. Also easy walking distance to breathtakingly beautiful (and friendly) churches. Scrumptious gourmet breakfast cooked to order by owner/chef. Really can't say enough good things about The Polo Inn,…
This sweet Bridgeport restaurant is a real surprise for weekend breakfast. The food is terrific and imaginative. The atmosphere is cozy. High recommend it for weekend breakfast or for anytime you’re looking for satisfying food
The guys that runs this were so nice and helpful. They gave us a ride to the nearest train station so we could catch our concert. The room was good and the breakfast that was included was very tasty. Nice family run business with a neighborhood vibe.
We came to Chicago for a concert. Everywhere we looked, places were either sold out or cost a fortune. We stumbled upon this place and it turned out to be a huge blessing! Incredible warm hospitality, exquisite breakfast and comfy digs. We loved our stay here and will definitely be back next time visiting Chicago. Close to public transportation makes it easy to get into the city. Great artsy neighborhood. We felt very safe walking around. Can’t wait to come back! I will never forget the Creme brûlée French toast.
We loved the old fashion feel but yet modern comforts in our two bedroom suites. Location was great. The best breakfast I've had in a long time. We did not have a chance to eat dinner there on this trip but have loved it when we've eaten there in the past.
