Husband and I stayed here for a week without ourkids. We stayed in a room with a kitchenette and used a government rate as hubs is a govt employee, so it was the same rate no matter the size of the room. This place is more like an Airbnb, which we liked. It’s not a place where they will rush to your room to give you extra towels, and we didn’t have anyone clean our room while we were there, which was fine. There is a full kitchen with silverware/plates/coffee and tea in the basement, but we used our fridge/microwave in our kitchenette as needed. The basement also had board games/ping pong table/two peleton bikes but we never used them. Very cool antique/vintage sports theme throughout. The hotel staff is typically one person at the front desk from maybe 10:30/11am til midnight. I’d had questions about an early check in and reached someone via a text number a few days before I checked in. Otherwise, no one responded to a call or email. We could not check in til about 4 pm, but they stowed our luggage so we could explore the area before check in when we arrived several hours early from the airport. Similarly, when we checked out, we asked for a late check out for 1pm. We did so, and they stowed our luggage for awhile until we took a cab to the airport a few hours later. Hotel is about two blocks from the Chicago stop on the brown line CTA, and walkable to shops and restaurants along Wells and other streets. Very convenient location for a week of sightseeing. I’d brought earplugs as I read reviews about the train, which is right next to the hotel, and the front desk offers earplugs. We never needed them, as our room had great soundproofing in the windows. (Train was louder in the bathroom, but we didn’t care). Wifi worked well and tv/cable was fine. Room was clean and modern, with outlets everywhere and high ceilings with pipes throughout — the space is a former milk factory. Our suite had two twin beds and a queen, so would comfortably sleep four, plus a couch that someone could sleep on (husband used it to store his luggage). They do charge an amenity fee but there is no cafe on site (it is permanently closed and appears to be a casualty of the pandemic) and while you can get bottled water and some alcoholic drinks, we rarely used them. We had seen mentions of this fee in earlier reviews and just added them to the cost of the regular room rate, so it wasn’t a surprise. Overall, we had a great stay.…
This Building which they call a Hotel looks great in the pictures, but different in reality. I booked a room with my daughter and upon arrival the receptionist gave us a room with its window direclty facing the Elevated train tracks. The room looked diferrent from what is posted in the Internet. We asked for a room change but the reply was that all rooms were reserved. Funny how the rooms are all reseved when the Hotel was quit empty. The receptionist was very unfriendly and always not at her desk. During check out there was no one at the desk, even after waiting for thirty minutes.
Please read before booking in this place they call a “hotel”. I had 2 rooms reserved and PAYED via hotelbeds from 19th to 22st of May at the Hotel collection River north. We got there after midnight because we had problems with our flight. For our surprise, there was no one to check us in. I did not know no one will stay in the hotel during the night, what I think is an absurd. I tried to call and text the emergency number, and after a while someone responded saying my reservation was cancelled because it was too late. We got very frustrated and at that time we tried to look for some hotel nearby to spend the night. The next morning, we came back to the hotel collection river north to try to at least use our last night there since it was already paid. We talked to the front desk and explained the situation and she said our rooms were still available. She asked me for my credit card and I asked her TWICE if that was just for a hold, and she says yes. I received 3 different charges in my credit card: $56.99, 147.01, and 111.99. In the next morning I asked her again if that was just a hold, because rooms were already paid for and again she said yes. After weeks, one of the charges still remains in my credit card. I emailed the hotel explaining the situation and asking for a refund and they didn’t even respond me. What a bulls*** of a hotel. I 100% DO NOT recommend. It’s a joke.…
My stay was crazy… it looked great in pictures.. but no services… no front desk person, no manager, no food of any kind, no water in the room, no desk, no chair. It was the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. In the morning I had a multi country Zoom call with blaring Rap… I had to take the call outside because there was no one to turn the lobby music down. No matter what.. never stay at this hotel.
We stay at Hotel Collection Chicago River North for 4 nights. The hotel is very small but is clean. The customer service was the worst we have EVER encountered! We were charged $900 for 4 nights for a double-bed room. When we checked in, they charged an additional $40+tax "resort fee" per night which was a total rip off, as there were virtually no amenities at this hotel. We called multiple times before our travel to request an early checkin, as our flight arrived at 11am. We had to call 3 times (and tried different times of the day) before someone answered the phone. We were told that early checkin is not allowed. The regular checkin time is 4pm (which is very late indeed, for any hotel). We showed up at exactly 4pm, but found that they still had not yet cleaned our room. We had to wait for over half an hour (even after pleading repeatedly), and we were almost late for an important appointment that late afternoon. On that late evening, another guest opened our room door and was about to enter into our room, while we were inside our room! When we complained about this incident the next morning (on our way out), the receptionist did not acknowledge that they might have issued the wrong key to other guests. Instead, she said she will find out from the security camera who entered our room the night before. She took our keys, and said we will get new keys when we return in the evening. Shockingly, when we returned in the evening, the staff on duty at the reception knew nothing of our incident. She could not find our names on the computer, and she told us that our room was cancelled! All our belongings were still inside our room, and we already paid for the next 3 nights. After lots of anxiety and waiting for over 15 mins, she finally gave us new keys to our room, and again promised that they will follow up on the security incident the next morning. We never heard back from the hotel about the incident (i.e. another guest getting into our room). There was always just one person at the reception throughout our stay, and often that person was not at the reception. When we checked out at around 10:30am, we saw that many people were waiting to check out, because the receptionist wasn't there. After waiting for some time, everybody (ourselves included) just left our keys on the reception desk. (In any case, they did not leave any instructions for auto-checkout). The reception was totally disorganized! The fridge in our room did not work. We had to store milk in the shared fridge in the basement instead. For 2 of the nights, a group of young people returned to the hotel at around 3am, and talk very loudly for up to 5 mins along the common corridor adjoining many bedrooms. It certainly woke up almost all guests on our floor. The hotel did nothing about it. Overall, an extremely bad experience indeed....…
So happy with this app and service from 2nd kitchen, great food and so speedy service & delivery. So happy they partnered with the chicago hotel collection river north…. Love the hotel & love the service. 5 stars
Initially our stay was pleasant, there were a few small hick ups. Ie no remote for the TV, only one bar of soap etc. (They did later get us a remote) . The main problem; and the reason for the one star review, is that I was double charged at check out. When I check into the hotel I was sent a form to fill out online and paid ~150 for the amenities fee and deposit. Once I arrived at the hotel I asked the front desk if I would owe anything else, to which she replied no. We'll, low and behold at check out when I ask for a invoice there was a balance of .... You guessed it ~$150. When I ask why I was charged twice for the same thing? the young lady at the front desk said the first charge was just for a deposit and I would get it back. It in fact was not just for a deposit but the amenities as well ie I was charge a deposit and amenities twice. I asked why am I paying again? why didn't they just use the first one? to which she replied that's just how it is in there system. I will be writing a letter to the manager, as well as waiting to see if the double charge is fixed on my account if it is I will change my review but until then I suggest anyone who books here get a invoice and check with you bank, or possibly just find another hotel to avoid the issue.…
We arrived to a room that wasn’t cleaned well. We found a bloody syringe and a small bag of an unknown substance in a Kleenex box. There was staff available when this occurred although we’re asked to resolve in the morning. The property manager arrived at 10:30 am the next day (30 min late) and offered us a new room. I asked for the previous nights room to be refunded given the situation. We were not allowed to directly communicate with her supervisor and instead was offered to forward the email onto them. I have yet to receive any communication from the property manager about the incident after more than a week. This property seems to be a place where people rent the room to have parties (there was one while we were staying there as there are no staff on premises after a certain time in the evening.…
I was so impressed by the comfort of our beds and pillows! Room was super cute and very clean. The hotel has a very trendy, unique style. Location was within walking distance to food, stores, bars, Mag Mile. Staff was soooo friendly and professional. Note: This is not the Waldorf ok, This adorable and clean hotel is more like an Airbnb. Staff is not on site 24hrs. If you are looking to be spoiled and waited on hand and foot, this is not the place for you. Plenty of other amenities available to you like local restaurants that offer free deliver to your room.
The worst experience ive ever had in a hotel. The front desk never answers the phone and then tells you that if you need something to come down and get it. Cafe area wasn't open the entire stay. Nothing was properly cleaned (handprints on the windows , disgusting communal area with a disgusting sink, questionable stains on sheets). 35 dollar a day parking (which is just the dirt path under the train tracks). Had to pay an additional room fee upon arrival (which would be okay at a normal hotel but seeing as how nothing here was available its being put into this review). After two days into our 4 day stay we never saw the receptionist again. The list about the problems inside of the hotel really just go on. As for outside? Good luck going out to any bar. All of them got shot up every single night ( with the exception of headquarters... that bars a 5/5). Save your money.…
