I really want The Publishing House to stay a secret. It is such a cozy, lovely, wonderful place to stay. From the Press Room wine bar in the basement to the creative delicious breakfasts to the coziest bed I have experienced at any hotel/bed&breakfast. The West Loop area around the Publishing House is full of great restaurants and cute shops within walking distance. We never had any issue getting an Uber or Lyft and there is a pink/green line stop just a few blocks away. We stayed in the Everleigh which is spacious and filled with light. The steam shower alone would bring me back, such a delight after a long day walking around Chicago. We truly enjoyed our stay. Of course the highlight for everyone were Angus & Louie who we spent a quiet evening with in front of the fireplace, such gentlemen.…
Room was comfortable, breakfast delicious, communication was awesome. We paid the $25/day to park in their reserved spot, made things so much easier for us. Would highly recommend this place, so unique and interesting.
This place is literally perfect. Super quiet, squeaky clean, incredibly comfortable. They also somehow nail making it feel like you're staying in a really upgraded version of your own home. The decor is beautiful, the beds are SO comfy, and the breakfast is absolutely delicious. The location is also excellent, close to lots of food and shops in the West Loop. My only warning is that if you book on a 3rd party app, make sure to call and confirm your email address and phone number with the BnB--since there is no front desk staff you will need to rely on the information they email you and use your phone number to get around inside the property.
What a fantastic bed & breakfast! The bed was actually comfortable (I never sleep great on vacation and I slept amazingly well), the decor was beautiful, the staff was friendly, and the food was delicious. It’s about a 10 min walk to the “L” so we were able to use public transportation pretty easily. I would definitely recommend staying here—we hope to return in the future!
I came across Publishing House BnB while looking at Google images of the west loop. I was trying to find somewhere to stay for a weekend away. With one click, I was hooked. It has great reviews, it’s in a great location, and it’s beautiful. Check-in was easy. I received and email with instructions on how to get into the building and up to our room. Breakfast was phenomenal. I had one of the best breakfast sandwiches if my life. They have a few options to chose from each morning, including a vegetarian option. There’s always fruit and some sort of baked good as well. And the French press coffee is great. The room was cozy, the bed so very comfortable. And we can’t forget about Louie and Angus, the resident pups of Publishing House. They’re let out into the common area after breakfast and are happy to greet you before you go about your day.…
Our room and bathroom set up was perfect and spacious. Loved the bathroom products they offer. Breakfast was delicious and there were several options. Late night tea is also much appreciated. We worked from the B&B common areas for the day and it was quiet and lovely! Great local getaway and would stay here again!
Terrible service and management. Tried to book months ago and was given the run around and told we were on the “wait list”, until they contacted us today to tell us they’d rented out the entire hotel for the period we tried to book. Don’t waste your time with these unprofessional idiots unless you can afford to have your plans cancelled entirely. Would give 0 stars if possible.
This place is amazing. Simultaneously low-key and extravagant. Turnkey check-in, beautiful design, great location (walking distance to many of the city's best restaurants and close to downtown), great breakfast. Our room was gorgeous: exposed brick, huge windows, mid-century modern furnishings with eclectic complementary pieces. The most surprising thing is the huge shared spaces: we came back from dinner and lit a fire in the fireplace and stretched out on the couch. Didn't see another soul for hours. But if we had, they could have been on the couch on the OTHER side of the fireplace, and we'd have hardly noticed them. That 3rd floor breakfast room/lounge must be 25' x 50'. And there's a big reading/sitting/play room on the 2nd floor, too. Finally, the bar in the basement is really, really cool. Check this place out. I live locally, so I know: You can easily spend twice as much at some 4/5-star Chicago hotel and get half as much for your buck. We'll definitely be back.…
Publishing House feels like a cozy home away from home. The rooms are spacious, with super comfortable beds, Malin + Goetz beauty products in the bathrooms, a lounge area stocked with board games, and two adorable dogs (Angus and Louie) who are happy to just chill with you by the fire. The breakfast part of the 'Bed and Breakfast' is a star point of this place... homemade freshly baked goods and a different menu every morning with delicious options to choose from. The BnB is located in the West Loop area of Chicago, which has a myriad of good eats to choose from.
My husband and I bought out the Publishing House to get married in September and we stayed there with our families. It is such a beautiful space and Kimberly and her team are excellent. The common space really let our families enjoy each other’s company and made for a fun and relaxing weekend!
