This is one of those hotels masquerading behind COVID safety to cut their costs and simply not clean rooms at all. I deliberately moved to the Sofitel after 2 days so that I didn't have to stay in a dirty room any longer. Cut the theatre and back it up with some science: you are using a central air-conditioning system and leave circulated bacteria to circulate, sit, and fester in our rooms for days, which is counterintuitive and actually puts your guests in more danger of catching COVID. Call it what it is: "Swissotel attempting to recoup profits lost during COVID". Alternatively, reduce your prices proportionately, because that isn't 4-star service. Next up, no breakfast whatsoever, despite the fact that Chicago is back to normal, one of the most vaccinated states, and with cases on the constant decline. There are many ways for you to serve breakfast that isn't a buffet, if you insist on some other kind of set up. Package the food, allow only 15 minutes, require booking, keep a maximum capacity, or whatever. Eating in your room stinks it out and is absolutely foul, not to mention your exorbitant breakfast prices without any reduction to nightly rates despite removing yet another important benefit of a 4-star hotel. So I will never stay at this hotel again, until they either reduce their prices proportionate to the now 3-star service level, are honest about their real reasons for removing services (cost), or return the service levels to a 4-star level, which means daily cleaning and breakfast buffet. Another area of cost-cutting from Swissotel, the desk service: Check-in took me 1 hour. Seriously, 1 whole hour waiting in a line while only one person was serving 30+ people and answering the phones at the same time. She was friendly enough, though she gave me incorrect information about the gym. She said it was "Oh, maybe 8am... maybe 6am, I don't know... until 10". In fact, I found out from another employee later that it is 24 hours. The idea of providing service (and allegedly 4-star service) pretty much involves giving your guests correct information about the amenities. Anyway, I blame Swissotel and not her, because it's clear there is little respect for both guests and staff if they don't care about only have one person on shift at the peak hour of check-in. Again, more shameless cost-cutting at the expense of the guests. Let me be clear: the girl that checked me in was polite and fine. My criticism is leveled at the management. This level of understaffing and cost-cutting SHOULD make you wonder where else costs are being cut. In the laundry? In the kitchen, where meticulous hygiene and safe food practices are required? The level of cheapness makes me question the other standards the hotel has, so I won't stay here again until I read reviews about the return of these services. Do not recommend. Save your money and stay at an AirBnb instead of in a stinky-*ss, unhygienic, 3-star room. Swissotel, if you think customers will just adapt to you charging 4-star rates for 3-star service, you're wrong. It now makes more sense to spend similar money in a luxury AirBnb and at least live with cleaning supplies, windows that can be opened for fresh air, and lower risk of COVID due to the lack of central air-conditioning.

My coworker and I are nurses currently assigned at McCormick Place on the Covid-19 unit. After a long shift we decided to stay downtown and not drive back to the suburbs. We called ahead to check in. Asked if we can get a room on a higher floor with a view, I did mention we're nurses. Upon walking into our room we were pleasantly surprised that they upgraded us to a gorgeous suite on the 31st floor. Very clean, huge, 2 bathroom suite with a view. Great service and friendly staff.

If I had to pay for this hotel myself I would have to rate 1 star. Thankfully a friend paid. Let’s get started with the parking “garage” that is more like a dungeon to hell. First of all if you pay the $60 to park in that sh%thole, prepare to have to back up and go forward about 20 times to get the sensor to take the barcode. When you finally get the sensor to work and are able to enter, prepare yourself for the lowest overhead possible. If you have an antenna(my 2013 minivan does) it will fling around when it hits the ceiling that is highly likely to be filled with black mold and asbestos. When you finally find a parking space you must back in usually at a really weird angle. You will then walk a ways through the horror of the stench of raw sewage. You may see some sketchy people in the dungeon as well. When you finally get to the hotel entrance from that garage, you likely will walk up a set of steps to a not so well lit dirty hallway that then takes you to the elevators. When you finally get to your room you may have a fantastic view of the river, and the room was clean as well. You may temporarily think you are in a 4 star hotel, only as soon as you leave your room again you will realize the place is really a 2 star at best, but a wannabe fancy 5 star. There are plenty others nicer for same or better price

If you want a beautiful hotel near Navy Pier, the Magnificent Mile, n Ricer Walk, w/o regard for amendments, this is your place. The hotel IS beautiful. But there are many cons. I booked a Play n Park rate to include parking. They never found that. I had to pay $60/ a nite extra to park
