The hotel was easy access off the Ring Road, just west of Selfoss. It felt more like rooms in converted summer camp cabins in the woods than a hotel or a guesthouse (Not that it was a bad thing). Our room and bathroom were small with basic furnishings but everything was clean and tidy. Parking is directly outside your assigned cabin building. Our building had 4 rooms but it was quiet from outside noise and from other rooms. There was a common area in the front of our cabin as well as a common room in the office/checkin building with a sofa and a few tables. Coffee/tea was available anytime. When we were relaxing in the common area, the staff asked a few times if we needed anything as they walked through.

Website showed breakfast was available for a fee. This wasn't offered to us on arrival so they may not be doing it right now. We saw they were very accommodating to a family in getting their dinner heated up since there were no guest kitchen facilities. (Recommend pizza at Olverk nearby).

For us, it had a better rate than other lodging in the area so I would recommend it if the price is right and you are looking for a 1-2 night stay with not much time spent in the rooms.

As the hotel itself says, the facilities are kind of basic, but they're all in great condition. The beds are comfortable, the showers hot and high pressure, and the rooms comfortable temperature. The staff are lovely, and the resident dogs are too. Being dog friendly was the reason we chose the place, and my dog enjoyed her stay too. The farm/hotel feeling is unique and enjoyable, and the location is great for easy access to Hveragerði and Selfoss.

We stayed here on our Golden Circle trip. The staff was welcoming and my children loved playing with the resident dogs. The cabins are basic but comfortable and perfect for our needs. Easy access to two towns for food and supplies. Easy on and off for travel. Breakfast was a little pricey for the offerings but we appreciated all the incredible homemade jams.

The rooms in this guesthouse are very small and the bathrooms are even smaller. Anyway, it works well as a relatively cheap accommodation located in an excellent spot. Breakfast is very good and the hospitality of the staff is really great. You feel at home.

One of the best accomodation from the seven place we stayed in Iceland. Outdoor hot tub is great. You can buy breakfast for 2500ISK/person and it's great, with several homemade jams, salad from their garden, sliced smoked lamb, skyr, etc. Clean room, nice hosts (young guys), good value for money. Would be a great choice for larger groups as there are seperated houses with rooms.
Nice athmosphere and decorations.
Good location to explore the Golden Circle.

I am not going to divulge my favourite room when on tour with 35 boys and 4 other staff members in tow. I am hopeful that I can get this one again in 2026! As always, our stay at Hjardarbol was as brilliant as the last. This family run guest farm serves up delicious meals; breakfasts being absolutely brilliant, the packed lunches comprising of sandwiches is sufficient to sustain hungry boys until they start their retail therapy and the suppers are sumptious, hearty and filling. You can go back for seconds, a schoolboy's dream. I cannot pay this establishment a bigger accolade than that which I have stated in previous reviews over the years. They really look after all of your needs. I wish this family-run business all the very best and long may they be filled with contented customers. The rooms are clean and just right for a large group on tour. Oh, and those lovable and playful dogs add to the warm welcome extended. Olafur Pa (Oli), the son of Sjofn (Shop). They are there to greet you the minute you set foot outside your room in the mornings and to welcome you back after your return from your days activities, each with a log in their mouths, ready for you to throw, that is if you can get them to release them. They are so cute! If you're playing a ball game, they will attempt to join in and good luck if you want your ball back! Thank you to all of the hard-working staff at the Hjardarbol guest farm. We do appreciate all that you do for us when we visit.

Very nice cabins, we had a room with a private bathroom, which had everything we needed. The common room has a TV, some board games, books and most importantly coffee, tea and microwave for the travellers like us, who bought some food in the supermarket and needed a place to heat it. Bonus points for the hot tubs and incredibly friendly dogs. Also the reception offers some local souvenirs and unique postcards from local artist that you cannot get anywhere else :)

We stayed in an en-suite twin room, the room was spotlessly clean, and the beds very comfortable. It’s located perfectly for touring the south of Iceland and also Reykjavik which is just 45 mins away. Our interaction with reception was very brief, which means that everything went smoothly. They were friendly on arrival. The only negative I can think of is that only one towel per person was provided but their was a heated towel rail which was put to good use. The hot tubs were very nice too. Supermarkets are available in near by Selfoss and also Hverageroi . The bakery next to the Bonus supermarket in Hverageroi does amazing tasty pastries and sandwiches, plus all the normal coffees. I would definitely return to this hotel.

We loved staying at this property! The room was perfect for a family of 4 and the grounds were beautiful. My kids especially liked playing with the dogs and we appreciated the hot tubs! It is several minutes away from Selfoss which makes it feel quiet and remote but it is still really accessible and convenient. The staff were helpful and welcoming. We highly recommend!

This is a fairly basic but charming hotel/hostel. It enjoys a good location in the golden circle giving good access to Selfoss which is really pretty. The owner is a lovely lady who is so helpful and puts in a very wholesome breakfast. We saw the Northern Lights here which made it extra special.

Hi, may I know how many shared bathroom and toilet in this guest house ? Thanks
Answer from Petra F

There are cottages with rooms that have private bathrooms, and there are cottages where (3) rooms share a bathroom. I have been in both types of accomodations and it didn't bother me to share the bathroom with other guest as everithing was kept clean and even I left my cosmetic bag in the shared bathroom and nothing was stolled or missplaced.
