Every bad review is spot on. We stayed here for a long weekend. Trash everywhere in the morning not picked up. The pine straw in front of our room caught on fire and filled our room with smoke as we left the door open. Staff did not care that our room was unsleepable. Internet was BROKEN and staff said it was that way for weeks so do not expect to work from home unless you have a hot spot. Asked for our points back but the management never even responded despite multiple calls.
The staff was not friendly, it was as if they we were bothering them. The only nice person was the cleaning lady who was so overworked but cheerful when I spoke to her. Had NO room service, I asked for clean sheets twice, no clean towels, food in the restaurant was average. The carpet in our room was sticky as if something had been spilled which makes me wonder how clean is the room? Pool was cloudy, sand in the bottom, I never saw anyone cleaning it. I was sad that we had this type of service. I will never go back to Jekyll unless it's a free trip. We asked for a larger room close to the pool and we were told no problem, We got there, we were 3 floors up on the opposite side of the pool and it was a small hotel room.
The hotel is new so the facilities are very clean and modern. The issue here was that during our stay the room was accessed and medication stolen . I reported this to the on site manager requesting details of how this could have happened and telling them when I thought it happened but despite a complaint to Marriott HO and the hotel I have not received even an acknowledgment or apology 10 days after leaving the hotel.
We stayed here for a conference and I would have had better accommodations and service if I stayed in a cardboard box on the beach!!! I will extend a hearty thank you to Justice and Sandy who are amazing! The Courtyard Jekyll Island do not deserve you!
The Place is beautiful! Beautiful view of the beach! Restaurant terrible! Poor server doing the whole room and need to find a good chef. Food is horrible! No coffee in room have to down and spend money at Starbucks! Cocktails expensive and just so so....Nothing comes with your room which is expensive. If you go down for breakfast, more money for horrible food. SAD, could be a great place!
We stayed at the Marriott Courtyard on Jekyll Island this week. First I will say the location is great. The hotel is new and clean. Thats it for the positives. We had a King Bed room, Ocean front. The room is tiny! One draw in the room and they put a safe in it . No place to put your clothes. Closet is very narrow and had 4 hangers. Towels were hard to find and they don't have daily room cleaning. TV was mounted on a side and is hard to see from bed. No pool bar service and no one to bring your luggage in. Toiletries in bathroom were small and was hard to get replacements.
We stayed at the Courtyard/Residence Inn on Jekyll Island for just one night as we travelled back to Canada from Southwest Florida. The hotel is a new Marriott hotel (more like a resort) right on the beach. Yes, the beach is the backyard of the hotel and is one of the most beautiful anywhere in the world, very wide with dunes that stretch for miles. It’s not just the beach but the historic nature of the Island’s history that will make your stay special. The Courtyard / Residence Inn has a free shuttle (a six person golf cart and a van) that will take you to the Historic District and pick you up when you want to come back. We took up the offer of a free ride to the historic district to spend the later part of the day. You’ll see most of the buildings erected during the Jekyll Island Club era. They have been carefully preserved. The centerpiece of the grounds is the large Jekyll Island Club Hotel, a two-winged structure that contains numerous suites for rental. The presidential suite contains the three-story turret on the front of the building. Thirty-three buildings from the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries surround the hotel; many are the elaborate mansion-sized "cottages" built by the rich. Others have been adapted for use as museums, art galleries, or bookstores. If you’re spending a few days on Jekyll, have dinner at least once in the Hotel, They have a great menu and the ambiance is perfect overlooking the pool area and lobby. If you are just doing one day, arrive early for a walk on the beach. On a warm evening you can relax on the pool terrace with comfortable loungers and gas fireplaces. We stayed in the Residence Inn side. Rooms are large and all you need is right at your fingertips. If it’s not, the accommodating, friendly staff are a phone call away. Enjoy the new “spot” on Jekyll – we did.…
We visited Jekyll Island for the first time last week. This hotel is a shared space (Residence Inn/Courtyard) under the same roof. We stayed on the Courtyard side/ocean front room. The four story location is quiet and relaxing location just 1/2 mile from the town center area. There is a "resort fee charge of $20 daily but Amenities include free bike use and a $10 food and beverage credit, beach towels, pool, etc.. There are 6 EV chargers in the parking lot and parking is free. Access to the beach is easy (walkway across the dunes). The beach is much more quiet in this location than it is down near the Westin, Days Inn and Ocean Club hotels. You can bike the entire island in a single day and see everything, including the historical section. There were several families at the location when we stayed there, but even on a couples trip, it was quiet. Sunrises were impressive!!!…
This is beautiful new property. The location on the beach and the location on the island is terrific. The pool, beach and amenities are top notch. The challenge at the property is HR. They are struggling hiring people. The team running the property range from this is my first day working for Marriott to I’ve been here a month or so. They are using a very minimal menu because they don’t have food staff for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They are offering a free shuttle service to other restaurants and sites on the island, but our experience is that you can’t count on it to get a return ride. Even with the HR challenge, the property is terrific, and I would still come back again. I’m betting the Marriott culture is still strong and will fix its operational challenge.
We came for an early dinner - it is a beautiful spot, just the perfect blend of coastal chill and upscale comfort (we felt fine in our beach shoes and did not feel underdressed - important here on the island). Being the only other table at which people were seated we anticipated a brief wait. We sat for 30 minute. We had been told to seat ourselves, that waitstaff would come to us. Hubby finally went to bar to order drink, acquire a menu and inquire about service. He returned with two yummy Long Island Iced Teas and then waitstaff appeared, apologizing for not seeing us "because of a party of people" (four people at the corner of the bar.) We were seated right at the window with a clear uninterrupted sightline of the waitstaff - and watched them dance to a Taylor Swift song - not sure how they didn't see us but perhaps an eye exam is needed? Order was taken swiftly and brought to us quickly. With cold french fries. The sandwiches were okay. Somehow my Reuben was more Irish than the green beer they were serving at the bar. The Russian dressing was not there - oh no, my mistake - it was! There was just so little of it I had to take the sandwich apart to find it, one couldn't taste it. The bottoms were soggy. Not the best Reuben sad to say - but it was St. Patricks Day so perhaps there was inspiration I fail to appreciate. The onion rings were hot and tasty so they do appreciate temperature. The waitstaff did inquire about our satisfaction with the meal - and confess we did NOT complain as we felt thankful to have received any food and did not wish to stress the system - the inferior product was not her fault and we were not going to wait for remedy. All of that to say - I would go again with lower expectations - it really was relaxing. Just not going to ruin a pleasant moment with complaining. At least not in the moment.…
