We stayed here 6 nights in October with our family of four, including 2 kids under 8. We arrived on a Saturday and the hotel was packed - there was a soccer tournament and the families were at the hotel. The pool was packed and, unfortunately, the parents didn’t think they needed To watch their kids- who were being rude and unsafe. Once those folks left, the stay was so much nicer! The location is great, the free bikes were lovely and the staff was helpful! Sure, drinks were a little slow sometimes, but everyone is understaffed right now and they were trying hard! Room was nice, the sofa was a bit close to the TV and I wish the rooms were 1-2 feet wider, but they were perfectly fine. Since where was not regular housekeeping, we had to call the front desk when we ran out of items - and they were always very prompt in response! I thought breakfast was very good - it’s a hotel breakfast, so it’s not high class, but in our 6 days they changed the options a bit! I was happy with the selections! It was early October and the pool was not yet heated - hopefully they turned it on afterwards- it was just in the cusp of being too cold!

This fairly new hotel was built in the perfect location of the island. Beaches & lovely dunes are very nice. The over-worked front desk staff was quite accommodating & always helpful. We would like to mention Maurice, the morning clerk, he was informative & knowledgeable. The breakfast buffet was sort of disappointing -- closing at 9am is awfully early - and the food & coffee often run out even before that early hour. It's obvious this lovely hotel needs more staff. We stayed in a King 1-room Suite, and was surprised how the one TV can't be adjusted to watch in TV bed. Its attached to a heavy dresser facing the sofa/kitchen area instead of attaching to the wall where it can swing around to view in bed. If Marriott can make these few adjustments, this Hotel will always get a 5-star rating!

Room Tip: Should you want a room facing the beach, ask for beachfront, not beach view.

Not sure what all these people are complaining about, this was honestly our best trip in the longest time. The staff honestly is working so hard to make sure everyone is safe, and is enjoying and having a good time. The place is absolutely clean and the property is so beautiful with the most breathtaking views of the ocean, the best sunrise and sunsets and beautiful boardwalk to the beach. Perfect location, absolutely amazing property, we will return for sure!

Since Marriott didn’t send me a guest satisfaction survey following my stay, I am leaving my review here. I am a Marriott Titanium Elite member and spend 75+ nights a year in Marriott hotels. My stay at the Residence Inn Jekyll Island was one of the worst I’ve ever experienced with the Marriott brand. There was a expectation of excellent service and amenities with this being Marriott’s newest oceanfront hotel, charging guests $400+ room rates but the hotel did not deliver and our stay overall was pretty disappointing. The Residence Inn breakfast buffet was out of food and utensils 30 minutes prior to close and we were told the food items would not be replenished. Free breakfast is a standard amenity offered at all Residence Inn’s and upon making the front desk aware of this issue, we were told we could pay for breakfast out of our own pockets at the hotel’s other breakfast bar. After doing so, we were informed 20 minutes after placing our orders and waiting for our food that the items that we had ordered were not available… The hotel’s restaurant was very understaffed and the poor wait staff was frantically running around every day we were there trying to keep up, thus resulting in extended wait times and sub-par service. The front desk/reception area was noticeably backed up each morning and evening as we passed through the main lobby with lines of people waiting to be helped. There seems to be a clear communication issue between management and the rest of the staff as well as poor planning for upcoming holiday weekends. Marriott and LNW Hospitality should be ashamed of the lack of service this hotel is offering and make changes to avoid further tarnishing the Marriott brand’s name.

Shortly after the hotel opened, I was in Jekyll Island and stopped by and visited to take a look. I visit the island frequently, and was optimistic that a great new lodging alternative had opened. It is in a good location. The lobby/ public area looked bright and clean, but in my view, seemed a bit sterile. No big deal, though. The pool is indeed large, but the lounge chairs (and very few umbrellas) were lined up in rows crowded against each other--- my wife said "much like a cruise ship". I asked the front desk employee if the pool was heated in the cooler months--- she said no. (seemed odd to have a new location where one can't reasonably swim 5-6 months during the year!) That made us decide that a stay there from November through March or April would make no sense for us. And like a previous poster --- what guest desires obscure fees charged for services or products that are not wanted or available?? Who wants an A/C system in the room that won't keep the room cool enough unless someone is moving in the room... not to also mention no "constant fan" option is available to keep air fresh and drown out noises? Being "green" is great--- until my eyes are red from a lack of good sleep! I really, really wanted to stay here--- but unless someone at the hotel cares enough to address these issues, I cannot foresee my wife and me enjoying a stay there. I can pleasantly understand issues related to staffing challenges, --- but none of these matters are related to that.
