The hotel is located in a beautiful spot along the river. We had a river-view room that gave us an excellent view. We sat in a swing along the river for quite a while. It was so relaxing. The room was clean and the bed s were very comfortable. The hotel could use and update.
My sister and I just returned from a grandparents trip with her grandson (age 12) and my granddaughter (age 9) and we decided to stay at the Hampton, primarily due to its strong brand and emphasis on quality. Even though the hotel was an older building, it was well maintained, clean and had plenty of parking. The free breakfast buffet was good and they had the best coffee! The hotel is conveniently located a street back from Main Street, but within a short walking distance to the village grocery and downtown area. It is also in the Chattahoochee River so be sure to request a river view room. We had adjoining rooms which were great for us. The bathrooms were bigger than expected and rooms were a nice size too. Beds were also comfortable. I would definitely stay here again!
I am sorry to say this about Hampton Inn, because I love the chain, but something in this hotel makes me physically sick. I have been to this one twice and both times I had severe allergic reaction to something. It happened the first time around 2010 me and my ex-husband stayed in this hotel during the fall. I was in bed sick with what seemed like the flu for 4 days and don't even remember the 6 hour ride home. This time I went with my best friend last week and I was sick the whole 2 days we were in Helen, would have stayed longer but my friend was afraid I would end up in the hospital. An hour after we left the hotel, I was feeling much better and had even gotten my voice back. I am really sad about this because Hampton Inn is my go-to hotel. It has happened to me before at 2 other hotels in 2 totally different states. I think it may possibly be cleaning products that are being used because I normally don't have allergies. The room was clean, the breakfast was great and the front desk was helpful. I am totally happy with my stay other than being too sick to enjoy it.…
Your typical clean & corporate Hampton Inn on the inside, but looks like a theme-park style German castle on the outside. Easy to walk to all of the cool German-themed restaurants and shops in Helen. Nice front desk staff and good, free hot breakfast.
The good: Robbie at the front desk is a star. An absolute STAR. He is customer service oriented and everything you want in a Hilton employee. He gets 5 stars from me. Love love love him. Also, covered parking and walking distance to everything. The view from the third floor over the creek is beautiful. The bad: this place is pretty worn down. It needs some updates and upgrades. It’s old and it shows. There’s a weird smell that caused my allergies to flare out of control the entire time we were here. The ugly: it wasn’t clean. Not even on a superficial level. There were hairs on our bed. The shower was gross. We wore socks in the room because the carpets felt grimy. It was just gross. Not up to Hilton standards by any means. I can’t imagine what a lower level motel locally would be like considering this Hilton is a dump.…
