The Indian Summer House was a magnificent retreat in Kerala. You could do as little or as much a you liked. The friendly staff was welcoming and ready to assist with any questions or suggestions for activities. Raj,the chef, was fabulous, requesting our input for meals and accommodating with dishes that ranged from traditional, regional Indian food to western cuisine. The entire staff made you feel at home. It was one of the best vacations ever. Truly a spectacular place!!!

Where to begin…… From our gracious greeting to our sad but fond farewell Indian Summer House was heaven on earth. We were a group of 10 friends celebrating my wife’s 59th birthday. Minnie and Don, the owners, made everything so easy for us from the very beginning. They recommended activities, arranged tours and even had a pool side barbeque to celebrate my wife’s big day with a birthday cake to top it off. The party kicked-off with an interesting Kalari martial arts performance. We were welcomed with a delicious drink and jasmine flowered lei. Our host Don shared the history of the house and how the architecture related Kerala and the tropics. The house was beautifully designed in the Wijaya style with seating areas surrounding every suite. Each room was beautifully…

From the moment you enter the property you are in heaven! We were greeted with a welcome drink and a flower lay. Beautiful tour of the property, every detail is perfect, every "I" dotted and "T" crossed, it is truly magnificent! You can experience as much or as little as you want on and off the property. Our recent stay at the Indian Summer House was excellent. It was a beautiful house with wonderful staff that weren’t intrusive at all. The chef, Rajesh, was wonderful - he liaised every day to see what we would like to eat & welcomed us into his kitchen to watch what he was doing. He was also more than happy to share his recipes. It was particularly great to watch him make parathas. Rajesh also took us to a local teahouse for afternoon tea which involved a canoe trip across the river, a walk through farming areas with various crops & yummy banana fritters, all well worth the effort. We did an excursion to a bird and wildlife sanctuary. The guide certainly knew his stuff and we saw lots of very beautiful birds, including one in the top 10 rare birds of the world. We also saw…

Our honeymoon began as soon as we greeted Aldin (the property manager) and the incredible flower decorated Ambassador which was there to take us to The Indian Summer House. We had such a warm welcome from the staff on our arrival including beautiful fresh flower neck garlands and a traditional ceremony once we arrived at the house. The staff were welcoming and catered to our ever wish. Don had put together the most wonderful itinerary for us so we wouldn’t have to worry about a thing, just relax and enjoy. Our trip was filled with on site massages, Fort Kochi and local tours, cooking demonstrations and daily yoga which we thoroughly enjoyed. The very talented and friendly chef Rajesh made us beautiful meals which we had never tried before and they were all delicious. Watching…

I'll start with my only criticism: I didn't stay long enough. Don and Mini's Indian Summer House is currently Kerala's best kept secret, although not for long! Whether you book this place at the start of your trip to ensure you have a wonderfully soft landing, or do as my partner and I did and save it until the end of your trip and reward yourself with a very luxurious ending - I promise you simply won't regret it. The property is a luxury private villa in a wonderfully off-the-beaten-track part of Kerala. The estate is made up of a number of buildings designed in a blended Balinese/Indian style that surround a leafy courtyard. Our suite was beautifully appointed and spacious (read: enormous), and the bed was hands-down the most comfortable we slept on in three weeks in…

This was my first trip to India and what an experience! Our hosts Mini and Don are terrific with everything thought of right down to a very well laid out Itinerary - enjoying the cultural highlights such as trips to Fort Kochi, Mannar tea plantation, Folklore Museum, temples, bird sanctuary and the every busy markets but in all that there is plenty of quite time for yoga, a swim (in a huge pool) and reading in the beautifully set out lounges dotted around the Indian Summer House. The staff are amazing and so very helpful and friendly, Rajesh is an amazing chef, Albin the property manager, Vindoo and Riju and our drivers were lovely. The tranquil gardens and meeting Mini's extended family and friends is also a delight. Thank you so much for a wondering experience and look…

On my first trip to India, I recently stayed at The Indian Summer House with my partner for one week. We had the most delightful stay, welcomed with a drink + traditional Jasmine flower lei. The Indian Summer House is an absolute oasis and luxurious home away from home, located in a quiet area of Muvattupuzha, near Cochin. Built over the period of 5 years under the renowned Balinese architect Made Wijaya, it’s easy to see that every inch of the property has been thoughtfully designed, handcrafted, and influenced by both Balinese + local Kerala architectural styles. We loved being able to explore the local Muvattupuzha area and its temples, Fort Cochin and it’s shops and cafes, kickback on a luxury houseboat cruise and experience the wonderful art of sari shopping. Retreating…

India is a chaotic place, that's one of the reasons I love to visit. But at the end of the day you want an oasis to stay where you can retreat and engergise to launch yourself back in. Indian Summer House provided the perfect combination of relaxation and cultural immersion. My group of friends and I alternated one day of relaxing by the pool/having spa treatments/ exploring the local town with getting out and exploring Fort Kochi and cruising on a houseboat in the Kerala backwaters. Our host Don organised every detail and made sure we were well looked after at all times. In the lead up to our stay the communication was excellent and I arrived excited for what was to come. It was even better than I hoped for! Our chef Raj seemed to read our minds to know exactly what food to…
