Came in for the weekend to meet up with son and his family who were there for a "destination wedding". The staff were all friendly and helpful. The House is actually rooms in several buildings. Our room was clean and fairly new. One oddity was that the cable TV service in the room only offered access to Fox and Newsmax. None of the Big 3 channels. The restaurant has inconvenient hours....not open for breakfast and closes by 7 pm. The food was served family style and was bountiful....way too much. It was also terrible. The fried chicken they are proud of was average. Everything else was cooked to near tasteless. The best thing about the House is that it is within half a block of downtown Dahlonega.
We stayed here on NYE. We had a room in the ‘Carriage House’. It was really clean. The downside was the mattress was lumpy and uncomfortable and the heat/air wouldn’t let the room get cool. Other than that, the location is great and close to the square.
Our girls getaway adventure led us to Dahlonega, GA where we stayed overnight at The Smith House. We had a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom suite that was right in the middle of town. The patio rocking chairs were a nice treat and easy way to people watch that afternoon once we arrived. We also had a chance to view the local storefronts and restaurants right from the comfort of our patio. Even though our room was right in the middle of town in the square there was not a lot of noise and distractions to keep us awake. We intended for this quick getaway to be restful and relaxing and we were able to get that while staying at The Smith House. There was plenty of room, access to a small kitchen and living room area as well as the patio. I would recommend a stay at The Smith House. The staff was friendly, helpful and funny too. The only negative was the upkeep of the bathroom. It was a bit dated and worn from repeated use over the years but a quick deep clean and update would definitely improve the overall condition.…
We stayed in the Carriage House, which is right beside the main house. Very nice. The lower level had couches and chairs in a nice sitting area. We stayed on the top floor. Small room, small bathroom. But it was perfect. We even had a small view of town through the window. And it was so close to the town square, we just parked and walked everywhere we went. The 2 staff members we met were very nice and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place. (We did not try the restaurant part)
Great family style food ! In the heart of everything. Extra clean and friendly. They have a wonderful front desk lady that will help you with all the local sights. Be sure and see the mine shaft in the lower level. We also Loved The Consolidated Gold Mine tour down the street.
