A lovely park, right on the beach. Big flat sites. The office is staffed by cheerful welcoming managers. The handy man could do with a happy pill tho’. (We had heard similar stories.) Would recommend the Captain Cook park as a great place for base while exploring the area.

Horrid terrible worst stay ever do not stay here don’t waste your money Terrible hospitality experience aptly named capital cook since the owner/ manager is a very aggressive / rude clearly Tasmania still has angry violent and racist people left, such a shame . The man who yells and shouts at guests and threatens them if they do the slightly thing that has nothing to do with him and his accomodation and will chase customers around the accomodation and watch you, Tasmania no longer a penal colony and your paying guests are nOt prisoners in your terrible excuse of a caravan park so treat them with respect and be polite or, please sell the place to someone that understands hospitality and customer service so you can retire and live out the rest of your sad angry pathetic excuse of existence,

The campground has no demarcated campsites so people just set up all over the place - no respect for other people’s space. The shower block is overdue for a renovation- or at least shower curtains, paper towel and a more useful hand dryer. We left early because we had an RV about 2 feet from our tent, the occupants started playing music the moment they arrived and several of the RV occupants emptied their grey water straight into the creek, which is full of water birds. For a so-called pristine area, we were disappointed!

Adventure Bay has a lot going for it but this caravan park is not one of them. It’s a tired park in need of rejuvenation from the ground up. Probably the worst feature is the amenities block. There are only two cubicles in the men’s for the whole park, and when the block is being cleaned there is no alternative toilet. The sign says they are closed for cleaning between 11 and 12 each morning. We were there for two nights and on each of the three days the toilets were being cleaned at times outside these hours, so bad luck. The camp “kitchen” is in a dark container and has basic equipment that is very old. The dump point is the most unhygienic I have seen, simply a cap on a pipe into the ground. Also there is a strong smell of sewage behind the clothes lines. We came here to go on the cruise (highly recommended), but in hindsight would camp elsewhere on the island instead of this park.

The cabin was spotless in every way. The sound of the waves gently crashing on the beach was therapeutic. There was plenty of hot water, good cooking utilities and it was very quiet. There is a veranda with a BBQ, and it’s only a short walk to the general store. Nice.

We stayed 2 nights here on a powered site but wish we had used Hipcamp or similar website to find alternative accommodation. There is a place near Get Shucked Oysters that had sites available with play equipment that would have to be a better alternative to dealing with the rude owner of this park. We had arrived mid afternoon and went to enjoy the island. Upon going to bed at 9pm we found we had no power to our site. When we raised this with the man who we presume is the owner we were met with aggression and blamed for the issue. Nevertheless he fixed it and left. He came back a few minutes later accusing us of having not paid for the additional person on our site. When he was corrected on this he drove off in his buggy in a huff. When the office attendant came by shortly after and I raised the manner he had spoken to us in she was very dismissive of how uncomfortable we felt and again tried to place blame on us for the power not working. We also witnessed the same man give a couple a lecture for watching the tv in the camp kitchen due to the price of electricity. When the couple pointed out they we’re paying to use the facilities he abruptly told them they could use the area but needed to make sure they turned everything off. The following morning whilst we were in eating breakfast he walked in closed the door and turned the light off without providing any communication. We then witnessed the same man become quite aggressive towards another couple in the park over water usage. Whilst we understand every park has overheads when you are paying $45/ night you would hope you can use the facilities without being abused by the staff. If you do choose to stay here highly recommend the cafe a couple of hundred metres down the road that is open breakfast lunch and dinner. Amazing food and service. Facilities were a bit run down but not terrible. You do need to pay for hot showers though which seems common in Tassie.

Older caravan park - basic but clean 3 washing machines and only one dryer - created issues for all people using the laundry. 3 toilets and 3 showers so u had to pick your time - I think it was the same for the men’s. The parks position was brilliant!!!

Wish I could give 0 stars. We have been traveling around Australia for 8 months now and have stayed in countless holiday parks without any problems. The owner is very rude and said to our faces he hates travelers (especially French people, even though we are not French). The price for a night is also way too expensive. Better stay at one of the nice national parks camp spots, which is only 1/3 of the price and much nicer!
