I stayed here for a short long weekend trip to Pompano Beach with family. Overall, while the room could use a refresh, everything was functional and clean. The location and hospitality made up for that. My room was so close to the beach I could hear the waves at night when falling asleep (without any doors open!)
Location: The main point of the trip was to go fishing at the Pompano Family Pier, which was only a 5 minute ride away. There is a free shuttle service you can hail through an app called Circuit. I did not take advantage of this because our party ended up being 1 person over the limit, but since it was only a few dollars for an Uber XL, we opted for that. I did see the shuttle dropping off passengers while I was at the pier, so it was nice to see that it was real.
The Room: I was upgraded to a 1 King, 1 Queen 1 BR suite with 2 bathrooms. I used a Nightly Suite Upgrade for the upgrade. The 2 bathrooms were clutch as was the in room washer and dryer. The bathrooms were very small and had 2 small showers, but was still better than having one large bathroom. I wish the table in the room was a little bigger, but we made do. The kitchenette is minimally stocked. We decided to cook the fresh fish we caught and again, we were able to make do with what was provided.
Overall Service: Front desk promptly attended to our requests. Everyone seemed happy to help with anything I needed. Housekeeping either came too late or too early (4:30pm or 9:30am) but took away the trash and gave us clean towels when asked. Since we were only staying a few nights, this was not a big deal. Free breakfast is available until 9:30am. It is pretty standard for free breakfasts with a few hot options (scrambled eggs, sausage and corn beef hash or biscuits.)
Restaurant: The property now charges a resort fee (not a fan) which includes a $30 food credit at the restaurant among other perks. We ordered a few things each night and it was not very good and pricey. We probably wouldn't have ordered if not for the food credit. I would probably skip eating at the restaurant if I return in the future.
I would consider staying here again unless I find a comparable hotel that's even closer to the pier.

We only stay at Marriott brand hotels when we travel with the kids and this one has by far the best staff we have ever experienced. From the second you pull up the friendly valet Frank is there to greet you and takes amazing care of your car needs the whole trip, you will never wait more than a minute to have your car when requested. The front desk staff is the friendliest I have ever experienced. Jason the general manager is incredible and will go the extra mile to try to get whatever you need and make you feel like you’re part of the Marriott family. The hotel is literally on the beach and the beach is beautiful. The beach staff is so awesome especially Josh, he waited on us in our cabana with 4 loungers everyday. You can order food and drinks from their on site restaurant/bar and the beach staff will bring them right to you on the beach which is amazing when you have kids. Our kids loved the kids food menu. The breakfast buffet was always good and the kids always found something they enjoyed each morning. We stayed in a high floor larger size studio with 2 queens and a queen pullout sofa and there was plenty of room for the 6 of us. There is an ocean facing balcony as well with a table and two chairs and the views wether morning or night were amazing. The small kitchenette was great with full size fridge. There is a washer and dryer in the bathroom and that was so nice to have on a beach vacation being able to dry our towels and kids bathing suits every day after being on the beach. Overrall 10/10 experience and we can’t wait to plan our next trip there and we will for sure recommend this place to any friends/family traveling to the Fort Lauderdale area.

Had the best time at this hotel from start to finish! From the moment we arrived we were greeted by Carlos (guest services supervisor) this amazing man went above and beyond for us, it was our 15th wedding anniversary and our first holiday in a very long time without our 5 children, he immediately upgraded us to the 2 bedroom suite with ocean views from both balconies (yes there were 2) the room/rooms were fantastic plenty of space 2 shower rooms fridge,sink cooking facilities if we chose to use them (we didn’t) beds were extremely clean and comfortable had the best nights sleep in years! Hotel reception/lifts smelt amazing only downside they didn’t sell the scent I would have brought it home!! Pool is a good size and spotlessly clean we watched it cleaned every morning pool floats etc available free for anyone to use excellent for the children, atmosphere is amazing, we had been staying in ft Lauderdale The Westin beach resort and spa for over 29 years before and after children but it became too corporate and not the family oriented place we once loved so this time we chose to look elsewhere and with this hotel and staff we found it in abundance this will now be our go to place so much so we are booking for next year with the whole family!! The beach is beautiful it’s quiet but there are water sports if you choose and lots of families enjoying the sunshine just as it should be! Our only little moan would be the drink prices and the food they are priced way too high and food for pool/bar should be different to the restaurant need more of a variety and we didn’t see a children’s menu (although we didn’t ask) lots of families with children that mentioned paying the same as an adult price for children but don’t let this put you off it certainly didn’t us the best atmosphere and most caring kind staff especially carlos(this man deserves a pay rise) We WILL be going back and cannot wait to book and take our children! The building is showing its age. Only 1 elevator working. Room is basic but ok. Small kitchen comes in handy. Could use a comfortable chair to relax in besides the office-style chair on rollers provided. The AC in the room was extremely loud and woke me from a solid sleep several times each night. Shower was good with lots of water. I was looking around and it seems I may have had a rare room where the AC unit is built into the room rather than enclosed in the hallway outside of the room. Either way, there was no way I could get a good nights sleep with the location and noise of the AC.
There were several lamps in the room that I could never figure out how to turn on. Tried all the wall switches and at least 2 did nothing as far as I could see.
I don't get the requirement to use Valet for parking. There seemed to be sufficient parking so why I need to hand my keys to someone to move the car another 50' into a parking spot is a mystery. Of course you have to make an effort to have some cash on hand to tip the valet - but who carries cash any more? I would expect a valet at a high level resort, not at a lower level Marriot property like this.
Breakfast was included in the lobby each day but I've never had to eat breakfast at a hotel off of a flimsy paper plate. I had to stack 10 of them together or the plate would have collapsed under the weight of the eggs and sausage. Also, while I enjoy andouille sausage, I normally don't look for spicy sausage with my scrambled eggs in the morning...it was tasty but just a bit strange.
The weather really wasn't great for the beach (lots of clouds and winds) but I did manage to sit by the pool for an hour or so each day. Given better weather that is likely the place to be during the day (in addition to the beach).
Overall I would score this as a below average stay for a Marriot property but I guess you get what you pay for.

The staff were super friendly and attentive. The valet were always nice and polite. Every time we'd need our vehicle, they were quick to respond with a smile and a great attitude. We were there for a week and frequently using the room dishes. In addition to cleaning our room, room service would wash our dishes when we were away.

The Valet Guys were the best part of this property - very attentive, friendly and respectful. Breakfast staff, pool and beach staff were also friendly and helpful. Location was great and the beach was gorgeous. What could use improvement is the quality of food in the restaurant and the high high prices. 15.00 for a lg bottle of fuji water. We expect to pay more at a property and on vacation but I don't see how a family could afford the prices for each meal. Take note that when the site advertises chairs and towels provided - it is only at the pool and not the beach. Save yourself some money and pick up a couple chairs and small umbrella other wise you will be paying a lot of money for renting these items each day. Housekeeping was great most of the time, a few days we had to chase down towels, soap and tp as they were not restocked. Nice to have a stove and refrigerator in the unit.

We are lifetime platinum elite and travellers. This property is among the best we have stayed at, and not just the beach ones. First, location is awesome right at pompano beach that's itself is a lovely beach with gentle waves and soft sand. We had a ocean front two bedroom that had high glass windows and a 180 view, something we haven't seen in a lot of properties. Most important, service is outstanding which is quite a norm along south beach strip but nonetheless. Great attention to detail. We checked in early and they had a room for us but later moved us to a higher floor at our request. Kitchen is generously stocked and youre not lacking silver, dishes etc that's a issue with some of residence inns. They have a sushi restaurant on-site that serves broader and tasty food thought there are more options around in other hotels. we had a lunch and ordered food right at the beach and were satisfied.
the only small issue was room service never properly stocked towels in bathrooms but it was always a phone call away.
We plan to return!

Way overpriced for what you get, and the nickel and dine-ing is so annoying. One Night in an allegedly two bedroom suite cost over $500 and that's before the $35 parking and the valet tipping to get your car in and out. The two bedroom suite actually is a one-bedroom Suite with a second king bed situated in the kitchen and living space area. It's kind of weird because in order to get into the kitchen you have to disturb the person sleeping in the king bed 10 ft away. I've never seen a configuration like this. Picture attached. The corridors are outside, and there are no true ocean front view Suites or rooms. If you go out on your balcony you can glimpse the ocean around the corner if you get an ocean view.
The common outdoor areas near the pool and Beach are nice. We did not try to use any umbrellas or Cabanas but I wouldn't be surprised if they were add on charges. After all a bottle of water was priced at $8 if you drank it. Inside the rooms in addition to the very odd configuration of having the kitchen next to a bed, the furniture was worn and fraying, and there was a huge stain on the one armchair.
Worse, the shower bathtub didn't drain, and if one person was taking a shower in one bathroom the person attempting a shower in the second bathroom got only COLD water. So two people couldn't shower at the same time, even though there were two full bathrooms.
Some of the staff was nice like the check-in staff person. Others like the breakfast attendant were basically indifferent. When shown that the decaf coffee was dispensing clumps of grounds, she merely shrugged and said oh a few grounds in the cup -- it was nothing but clumps, and she made no move to apologize or correct the situation.
We only stayed one night and as we were checking out, we reported the cold water in the second shower to the clerk. She did not apologize, she just asked did you report this to maintenance? Well it had just happened, so we were reporting it right then. Again another shrug, no apology, just that she would make a note of it. Mind you, we are lifetime titanium level members, and there were no perks nor acknowledgment of our earned status.
The valet team, as others have noted, were great, friendly and efficient. There are other $500 plus price hotels that are so much better. This hotel is not up to basic Marriott standards. Stay elsewhere.

No, there are not any type of stores in walking distance. There are only hotels and condos in walking distance. If you don’t have a car, maybe you can pickup groceries on your way to the hotel or use a grocery delivery service. If you have a car, I think the nearest grocery store is ALDI or Publix. I think it’s about 3-5 miles away. The price of a ride share should be reasonable if you don’t have a car.
