Vorina Ktismata is a small, quiet and luxurious hotel, and it was the perfect place for our nine nights on Amorgos. We loved our spacious, comfortable one-bedroom suite, with its high-quality furnishings and sunset view. It makes a real difference having that kind of space and comfort when you’re on holiday. The kitchenette was well equipped with a kettle, Nespresso, fridge and all the essentials. Nikos and Alexia are such warm and friendly hosts, and they’re eager to share their passion for the island and to offer restaurant and beach suggestions. The food at breakfast is top quality and includes some interesting local choices. The omelettes are delicious. Service at breakfast was provided by the charming Mateo, who also makes the delicious daily cake. There were also some unexpected extra little gestures of hospitality now and again during our stay - a plate of canapes when I ordered a bottle of wine, for example. That kind of thing really sets a hotel apart. It was our first visit to Amorgos, but it won’t be our last and we look forward to staying at Vorina Ktismata again.…
We stayed for six days at Vorina Ktismata in the wake of the C19 crisis. Nikos and Alexia were fabulous hosts and nothing was too much trouble. The room was splendid with plenty of attention to detail. The breakfasts were nothing short of spectacular and were less ‘served’ than they were curated. The ‘cake of the day’ from pastry chef Matthew being a highlight. The wines on offer were of the highest quality and better than could be found in the Chora, and perfect for sipping while watching an Amorgian sunset from the terrace of the room. We found the short walk from the Chora to be an advantage so as to escape the hustle and bustle but still feel connected with a spectacular view of the castle.
We had previously stayed with Nikos 2 years ago, in 20 years of travelling our personal ideal is never to visit the same place twice, however this year we could not allow ourselves to ferry past Amorgos to our next destination without having a brief stay at Vorina Ktismata again. On arrival being greeted by Nikos was akin to a long lost family member arriving home, he has the most genuine warm and friendly smile. We stayed in the same roof terraced room and holding a glass of chilled wine staring westwood at sunset reminded us so much of why we came back to this wonderful island......beautiful hotel......and exemplary host. Nikos, we may have to break our tradition again !!
Nikos Thanks for all your nice attentions towards us during our week in your beautiful Alomni suite. Very confortable with fine décoration, pleasant terrace over Chora, sea and mountains, amazing sunshines. The place to go in Amorgos if you are looking for peace and a perfect situation to discover the island. Not to speak of the delicious organic breakfasts and so sweet home made chocolate cakes. We will surely come again.
... and now how is it possible to make a review …? Ηow to express in words the emotion of cordial hospitality? How to express the sense of discreet luxury of spaces and people? How to express the sound of silence in the most beautiful mornings? How to express the taste on our palate after the sweet creations of Matthew? How to say just thank you to Nikos for offering his own look to discover the hidden magic of Amorgos? If thank you is an excellent mark, surely this is a very little for Vorina Ktismata !
