Plunge Beach Resort earns praise for its friendly service and pristine cleanliness, with special nods to its beachfront access and varied amenities, including a pool and rental bikes. However, some travelers note occasional understaffing and the need for room refreshes.
While the resort's location is celebrated for its proximity to local attractions, the vibrant atmosphere is somewhat marred by noise complaints. Moreover, guests often question the resort's value, pointing to steep fees and room quality that doesn't always meet expectations.

1st time visiting this area of Florida. I can’t say enough good things about Plunge Resort. Located in a cute, quiet area yet walking distance to groceries, 1/2 mile to shops & restaurants/bars. We did not need a car, because everything was accessible by foot or local $2 (per group!) shuttle service. Take advantage of all the offerings at Plunge & you really never need to leave the property. Breakfast at The Octopus was fresh & great every morning. Shout out to the egg sandwich 😃 on brioche! Coffee at Bean & Barnacle Lunch served on the beach with a cocktail. Dinner at Backflip Lounge or door dash. Additional observations from my 5 day stay: Very clean & well landscaped property. Even the pool restrooms are incredibly clean.
Rooms in both main buildings are very nice.(Our friends stayed in Beach bldg room). I was pleasantly surprised w/our tower room, we could see and hear the ocean.
Bed was soft, clean & super quiet room. Quiet air conditioner.
Lots of open seating indoors and out.
I felt that my person and possessions were safe at all times on the property.
But the one factor that makes the resort so nice is the outstanding customer service. Every employee I interacted with was helpful, professional & pleasant. From reservations to beach staff. The people of The Plunge made a good vacation a great vacation. No stress. Thank you!

We planned a last minute trip to FL and stumbled upon this hotel. I was pleasantly surprised by how well everything went. The hotel could use a little upgrade in the hallways (which they had several signs advising they were doing this very soon). If I could change (3) things about my room, I’d add a full length mirror, more lighting & a microwave. The booking stated there was a microwave but we did not have one.
Suzette at the front desk was a pleasure to work with, she was extremely knowledgeable about the area, transportation options, friendly and courteous. I enjoyed our conversations. She always addressed me by name when she seen me. She made us feel welcomed & always had a smile!
All staff members were pleasant and friendly especially the housekeepers we switch out towels and wash cloths for every shower and she never gave us any trouble when we requested fresh items.
I do have to give a shot out to the beach waitress! She is AMAZING! We never personally utilized her services but we had a conversation with her. She took orders and brought food to the guest in 100 degree weather while walking in sand, with a smile! Very impressive and a beautiful soul. The beach chairs & towel gentleman were great and we appreciated them.
The hotel has (3) onsite restaurants. We liked the pool bar restaurant the best. The food was actually pretty good! They have many options, we tried fish & chips, pulled pork, 1/2lb shrimp, a burger and tenders while visiting.
Just a short walk (.5 mile) there’s several restaurants and a night life with live entertainment options. Suitable for the entire family to feel welcomed. There is a publix grocery store, $ tree and CVS across the street. Free circuit ride around town ( you should tip) to get to several locations within 10 miles. You’re really in a prime location, far enough away from the noise but close enough to get to it within mins.
The beach access and pool were really nice. Our first day there was tons of seaweed in the ocean but days 2-4 there were none. Water was clear and you can see fish swimming in the ocean.
Overall, we had a great time. The staff members were respectful and we plan to return.

This was our 2nd year at the Plunge. There is a lot to love which is why we returned. The location can’t be beat on the beach plus close to town with the shops and restaurants that are a 1/2 mile walk plus Publix & a few other shops including CVS a block away. The Plunge has wonderful amenities including pool, beach loungers and umbrellas set up for you, a tiki bar/food service, free bikes, and more. We stayed in the Bungalows which is for adults only which has its own swimming pool. Our first visit was excellent with a room by the pool. We tried to reserve a room for the following year before we left but we were told to call back in June since that’s when reservations open up for the Bungalows. We made our reservation that June and very excited to return. However, when we returned, we were told our room was in a different building not one by the pool. The room was on the first floor and extremely dark (the building to the right blocks most of the sun) and we only had one window. The room was extremely loud since we could hear everything that was happening upstairs including conversations and every time they walked/moved about (they were early risers). We had asked to see if we could get a room change before settling in (with or without the kitchenette) but we were told that they were booked. We definitely did not get much sleep on our four day vacation! It was very disappointing especially since I made the reservation in June when the rooms opened so I was hopeful for a room by the pool rather than the subpar room (and price was the same). We are looking to do 2 to 3 weeks next year but we were told that they cannot guarantee a room so I won’t risk being on that side of the building. We love so much about The Plunge but it’s not worth the risk to get a room that we would be unhappy with for a few weeks. We hope to visit again but definitely only for a short visit.

Thank you for your continued trust in us and for returning for a second year at the Plunge Beach Resort. We are so glad to hear that you love our location, amenities, and the overall experience we provide. It’s wonderful to know that the pool, beach loungers, and other offerings made your stay enjoyable. That said, I sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered with your room assignment. I understand your frustration after making an early reservation and expecting a room by the pool, and I truly regret that we couldn’t meet your expectations this time - room locations are very difficult to guarantee, we can only guarantee the room type. I also recognize how disruptive the noise and lack of natural light were to your comfort and rest, which is never the experience we want for our guests. We are continuously working to improve our guest experience, and I’ve noted your concerns regarding room assignments and noise levels. Your feedback is incredibly valuable, and we will take it into consideration when reviewing our booking process and room allocation moving forward. Regarding your plans for next year, I understand the importance of having a room you are excited about. While we cannot guarantee specific rooms in advance, we always do our best to accommodate every request. We truly appreciate your love for the Plunge Beach Resort and hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back, whether for a short visit or longer stay, with the experience you deserve.

We’ve chose the hotel to celebrate our anniversary and it was an excellent choice. The hotel offers 3 options of stay : main building (across street) and Beach Tower and Bungalows (both few steps to the beach). The bungalow are adults only , with separate pools, so if you are traveling with no kids this is the best choice, since the beach tower has thin walls and we could hear a baby crying all night long. Then we changed to the bungalow and it was perfect! Nice and large bed, good shower , large TV Nice coffee bar (2 available ) Very nice staff: Suzette and Kent were the best.

Maria - we are happy that you chose the Plunge to celebrate your anniversary and that you want to come back ! It was our pleasure to serve you. The beach tower remains a competitive building especially because the Ocean Front rooms come with a balcony where you see the ocean. Your comments will be shared with the rest of the team as we anticipate your return. Please remember to ask for the repeat guest rate when you call.

PROS: The staff is amazingly friendly, the vibe is modern and funky, the location is SUPERB- quiet amongst the lower rise buildings and condos - but just a 10 minute walk to the action near the pier and 1 minute to the beach. The pools are clean and the beach bar is convenient with a full array of cocktails and typical beach bar food - nothing fancy.
#Dion at #BeanAndBarnacle coffee shop in the lobby always super friendly, professional and eager to please. Coffee here is amazing. The lobby is decorated with funky art from local artists, and invites hanging out and play with plenty of tables and chairs, a shuffleboard (?) table, board games, a restaurant that serves breakfast (self pay), the coffee shop with pastries and gelato (self pay), and a small market with essentials and Plunge swag. There is a giant carafe of citrus water for free and unlimited which we used to refill our water bottles.
The guys at the pool towel desk and setting out chairs and umbrellas were also super friendly, accommodating and helpful. You get 1 towel per person, and 1 umbrella and 2 lounge chairs on the beach per room free daily. You can rent additional if needed.
The room was very clean, the bed and pillows extremely comfortable, the bathroom modern and roomy enough, the TV worked well and we had no noise issues at all.
CONS: no gym, no in room,

The registration desk, bar, and small food/coffee bar were located across the street from my room, which was quite inconvenient. The overall room quality was poor and felt extremely cheap, much below the standard depicted in the online images. At one point, we even suspected a mouse might be inside the air conditioner machine on the wall.
The room quality was significantly below par compared to any reviews I read. It felt like a bait-and-switch situation, where the mid-priced place I thought I was booking turned out to be far from satisfactory. The resort was out of basic food items like chicken and chocolate chips, which added to the disappointment each day.
Overall, I felt tricked into believing I was getting a better experience than what was delivered. For the high costs associated with staying along the beach in Fort Lauderdale, I expected much more. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend Plunge Beach Resort based on my experience.
On a positive note, the best part of my stay was the bartenders, who were friendly and provided excellent service. However, this alone did not make the stay worthwhile considering the price I paid.

We stayed in one of the Bungalow units. It was very modern and had what you'd expect for a king room. It was modern and our view was directly above the dedicated pool and overlooking the ocean. Fabulous view! The pool for the bungalows is small but dedicated to the bungalows while the larger pool next door is for the rest of the resort. The bar/restaurant on the beach was a bit pricey but not overly so given the convenience. Food was good and drinks were plentiful. They did have a happy hour but as you'd expect the drink options were limited. We had an issue with our TV not working and within a short time of reporting it, we had a new TV installed in our room! And one night my wife left her pocketbook at the bar and had a 3AM panic when she realized she left it there. We went to the lobby not really expecting any assistance at that hour but the security guard there was very polite and professional and after ensuring my wife was who she said she was, handed us the pocketbook that someone kindly turned in. Nice to know there are still nice people in the world! Plunge has several eating/drinking options on site, their fees include many things like rental bikes, etc. so it's worth the fees. The location is right down the street from the hub of LBTS so once you park the car, you can pretty much walk where you need to go. Loved our stay and look forward to returning again sometime soon. And we want to throw a shout out and thank you to the staff who helped make our stay memorable!!

Location is great... footsteps from the beach, and approx 10 mins walk to a really buzzy part of town with restaurants and bars.
Their pool area is clean and compact, with sun loungers.
The bar service was good, and the food we had was really nice (fries and tenders are 10 out of 10!).
Great ice machine/freezer available on the floor.
The not so good stuff:
The check-in experience really should set the scene for your stay, so in our case this wasn't good. The person who called us to the desk said hello, then immediately walked off to do something else. Her colleague stepped in to take over, but during the process stopped to answer the phone for a couple of minutes; he then took another message via his walkie-talkie. This isn't how you should behave and interact with guests who are just arriving. Additionally, he didn't bother to mention that we could get a discount on the parking (more on that below) by signing up to some club of theirs. I overheard this being told to the couple checking in next to us. Why is the experience so inconsistent between guests?
Parking is extortionate at $25 a night. The property has its own giant car park, so being charged so much to park as a paying guest seems like an easy way to extract more money from your customers.
There is only one lift (elevator) at the reception, so it can sometimes take a while to get to where you need to go.
The gym is... well, I wouldn't really call it a gym. It's a small carpeted room with two old treadmills (the belt slips on them, so it feels uneasy/unsafe to be running on it; I gave up half way through) and some weights. If more than two people are in there at any one time you can't move and feel on top of each other. I had to go outside onto the balcony just to try and get some space to do my exercises. The plus is that there's water bottles and towels available. My recommendation to the hotel is to think about upgrading the equipment ...some modern treadmills and some proper flooring would make a HUGE difference.
In the room, the shower pressure was terrible. For some reason the layout means the shower sprays water all over the floor because there's only an old shower curtain. Also, the air conditioning unit is extremely loud so you'll probably need ear plugs to get some quality sleep.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. We truly appreciate both your positive feedback and constructive comments, as they help us improve and provide a better experience for all our guests. We’re thrilled to hear that you enjoyed the comfort of your bed, the location, and the pool area. It's great to know that you liked the bar service and food, and we're glad you had a chance to take advantage of the ice machine. We’ll be sure to share your compliments with our team! That being said, we sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered during check-in. This experience is definitely not reflective of the level of service we aim to provide, and we have shared your feedback with our front desk team to ensure more consistent and welcoming interactions with all guests in the future. Regarding parking, we understand your concern about the cost, and we’ll be reviewing our pricing structure to ensure it’s more transparent and fair. We also regret that the gym facilities and shower didn’t meet your expectations and your suggestions for improved flooring and modernized treadmills are very helpful as we are in the planning phase of an interior renovation. As for the shower, we’re addressing the water pressure and layout issues to prevent any inconvenience for future guests. We truly hope you’ll give us another opportunity to provide a better experience during your next visit. Thank you again for sharing your feedback, and we look forward to welcoming you back soon!

We've stayed here 5 times and all of them were great except on this trip they upgraded us to the bungalows. It was not really an upgrade. Sure it had a kitchen with microwave but it felt like we didn’t have privacy. The lack of curtains and a rug made your voice echo so we heard other guests conversations and made us self-conscious. The front wall of the room was a large window with the door to the room. The 3 large shades you drew down for privacy left gaps so other guests could peer into your room at night. No room safe. No real closet and the mirror in the room was just leaning against the wall and not hung up on the wall. You could tell this was by design because no spot on the wall had a place to hang it. The room had hardly any draw or cabinet space and the decor looked as if a high schooler drew on the wall (and shade) with a Sharpie. There was almost no counter space in the bathroom. This was by far Not our favorite location on the property and when we come back (cause we do love being there) we will request NOT to stay in the bungalows next time.

Thanks for your question. Confirming the information that your fellow travelers noted. Our main pool is open to everyone while our Bungalow pool is reserved for those who are staying in our Adults-only Bungalow rooms. And Backflip is right next to the main pool ... open to everyone! We can't wait for you to take the Plunge!
You are! Registered guests with a valid form of payment on file (credit or debit card), can charge food and beverage from any of our three restaurants to their room folios.
Yes! We have four buildings and three of them are just steps from the sand. The fourth building (our Island Tower), is on the west side of a small side street (El Mar Drive), separating it from the other three buildings. But even that building is on the East side of A1A, so it's technically "on the beach".
If you want a room assignment in one of the buildings on the East side of El Mar Drive (i.e., on the beach side), be sure to book one of our adults-only bungalows or an ocean front room. Or if you book a resort view room directly with the hotel, you are eligible for a complimentary upgrade to the Beach Tower, if available. Lastly, if you do book a resort view room through one of the third party websites, you can pay to upgrade to the Beach Tower, if available.
We can't wait to welcome you to Plunge!
Hi Ronald! We reserve a small area behind the dunes in front of the Bungalows for guests seeking an extension of the adult-exclusive Bungalow pool experience. Chairs and umbrellas are set up in this area on request, but most guests prefer to be closer to the water and find a spot in the main beach area.
