Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott Marathon Florida Keys is a well-regarded destination in the heart of the Keys, with guests often commending its clean, spacious rooms and inviting atmosphere. The hotel's amenities, including on-site dining and various water activities, receive high marks for adding comfort and convenience to the stay.
While the service is generally acclaimed for being attentive, some guests have experienced inconsistencies. Although the central location earns praise for its proximity to local attractions, some guests feel the additional parking fees diminish the overall value, particularly for Bonvoy members.

Detailed Reviews
We checked into the Fairfield Inn and Suites at 3pm and our room was ready. The front desk crew were very informative and gave us a detailed account of what was included in the resort fee. We had free parking, free wi-fi (which was good throughout the property), 2 free drinks at either the pool bar or the pantry, and a $15/day credit at the pantry. We went to our room and were VERY pleasantly surprised. The floors were primarily a gray laminate with carpeting around the bed area. The room was immaculate and the bathroom had a great shower and bright lighting. We were fortunate to have a balcony in the suite building. As an elite Marriott member for many years I felt valued by the staff. There are 2 pool areas and both were clean and relaxing. The pool bar was not open but it sounded like a staffing issue much like many businesses currently face. There was a sign in the room to get pool towels at the front desk and to call if we needed anything (towel changes, coffee Keurig cups etc. ) We were able to replenish our coffee set up by asking housekeeping who were always available. The fitness center was also very clean with an amble assortment of equipment. We ate across the street at the Island Fish Company. We were very happy with both the breakfast and two dinners we ate there. Kim and Jen helped us at checkout and again offered to review our bill and asked about our stay. Thank you for a great stay! We will look at booking again next year for a longer stay.

On a recent May trip to the Keys, my wife and I, along with my sister and husband, chose to stay 5 days in Marathon at the Fairfield Inn [the original section].This proved to be a very good decision. The hotel was Very Nice, with a clean and comfortable room. Beyond that, there is a beautiful pool setting, which was nicely landscaped and on the waters edge. The location of the inn is perfect. It is connected to Sparky's Landing restaurant & bar and is just across the road from The Island Fish Co. Grill. These are 2 of our very favorite places to eat/drink in the keys. The hotel manager, Michael Weber, was on site regularly, visiting with guests, and making sure the whole place was in good order. He and an assistant even brought several of us a fresh coconut with a straw in it, while we were in the pool. I can easily give this place [ 5 STARS]

This was our first trip to Key West! The prices in Key West proper were outrageous, so we decided to stay in Marathon. Staying here at Fairfield Inn and Suites Marathon was an amazing decision and well worth having to drive 1 hour 10 minutes into Key West. We stayed here two nights and loved it. The room was very clean, there was a seafood restaurant and bar across the street, and the staff was top-notch. Special kudos to Neil and Larry on the management staff. They were absolutely amazing. I will definitely stay here in future trips to Key West.

First off, we are Marriott Bonvoy Gold Elite members. When we checked in to the hotel they wanted to charge $75 per night for our dog. The app does not mention a fee, just pet friendly. The manager, Michael Webster was in a meeting on a Friday afternoon and not available to speak with me. After waiting 20 minutes to see him, they advised they would only charge $75 for the entire stay. I called corporate and reported this issue.
Two days later I receive an email bill showing them charging me $75 for each night.
I then asked again to speak with a manager and miraculously they advised me that they were going to waive the fee but again this was after I reached out to them.
Very shady and not what I would expect given my previous stays with Marriott as a Gold Elite member.
Next, please be aware that the doors to the rooms are very heavy and loudly slam shut.
Also, you can hear loud noises coming from inside the walls. Not sure what that is about?
The parking lot is narrow and is shared with the patrons of Sparky’s restaurant.
For a seemingly next to empty hotel, they clumped people’s rooms all together.
They only had microwaved jimmy dean sausage biscuits on Sunday - otherwise, no hot breakfast as advertised.
The room did not have a pull out sofa with bed as advertised.
The wall AC was either blowing freezing cold air or it was muggy in the room.
Finally, we only stayed here because we are Marriott Bonvoy members and had our dog with us.

We are sorry to hear of your disappointment during your 1 night stay with us. We recently converted to the Fairfield brand on 10/1/20 after our complete renovation and we are updating our policies in many locations including Social Media. We found that the Marriott App did not have the information about our Pet Fee. I advised the Front desk to reverse any charge for a Pet fee during your 1 night stay. Any potential pet damages would be charged accordingly, as in any hotel stay. * Our doors are meant to close properly as you mentioned for security reasons. * The Hotel parking lot is fairly large to which we have Boats & Trailers & even Semi-trucks parking in our lot and of course patrons of the restaurant onsite. * Due to Covid 19, we are limited in what we offer for the Breakfast to which most understand. The Sausage Biscuits we offer are a substitute hot item and ALL hotels offering Breakfast have to conform to this style Breakfast to avoid any potential contamination. We certainly would like to go back to our original Breakfast but at this time that is not suggested by the Health department. * The reservation that you booked was for a King bedroom which is what you received. Only Suites have a pull out Sofa bed and we certainly could have tried to upgrade your reservation if that was what you wanted. We're sorry that you had felt our services were "shady", when we tried to assist you with the Pet fee and your other notes are simply normal operations that all our Guests enjoyed on a busy weekend here in the Florida keys.

First trip to the Keys and chose this hotel as they advertised a complimentary breakfast, and a restaurant on site. Our party of four stayed two nights. The restaurant was closed, the breakfast was prepackaged carb loaded and self-service. Not even a boiled egg. Marriott, you can do far better than this. Word of advice, ask for full disclosure of all the room fees and know what your paying before you go. The grounds are clean and manicured. Our room was clean and spacious upon check-in. But, once we checked in there was no more cleaning. I took our trash out myself. When we asked when the room would be cleaned and fresh towels brought in, they said it wouldn't be until after we left because of covid. Personally, I think the pandemic was an excuse to cut their costs, while still charging their guests full prices for services they didn't provide.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your experience while staying with us. Providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and we apologize for failing to meet your expectations. As we deal with "thousands" of Guests on a weekly basis, our current Housekeeping schedule has a full cleaning after the 3rd day unless requested to be earlier to which we will accommodate. This is done to limit interaction between our Guests and Staff as the health of both are critical, as Covid still exists. We would prefer to be "better safe than sorry" in this unusual situation. It may not be an excuse to you unless you actually contract the virus & we try to avoid that at all cost. Our Continental Breakfast consists of a variety of Muffins, Danishes, Bagels, hot & cold Cereals, hot Breakfast Sandwiches, Hash brown patties, fresh fruit, Yogurts, Granola bars, Cream cheese, Peanut butter, assorted Jellies, Honey, Milk, Teas, Coffee & DeCaf, assorted Juices and as a Fairfield Inn, we try to exceed the expected variety in our Breakfast offerings. You may not be aware but there is a staffing shortage across the country and we are directly affected by this, being on an island environment. The onsite Restaurant Sparky's is closed Sunday nights & Monday due to this. However, Island Fish Company Restaurant right across the street is open during these times, so we have a convenient alternative. It's unfortunate that our offerings were not to your liking as the overwhelming majority of our Guests have a fantastic stay with us. We hope you enjoyed your time in the Florida Keys.

Very very disappointed with the hotel. They will only clean our room every 4 days and we have 4 people staying in it. We did end up renting another room for 2 nights to give us some more space but cleaning room one time in the week we are here is unacceptable! Very poor service at this hotel!
I am extremely disappointed with Marathon key in general as a ton of restaurants were closed on Sunday & Monday and also others not doing take out.
The market next to hotel make sit a total pain in the ass to rent kayaks - having to reserve online or call another number rather than just rent them there on the spot where we can see them. We had to drive to Islemorada to do anything.
Everything has been a colossal hassle & this hotel completely stinks. The way AIRBNB represented the property prior to me renting it seemed like it was a condo.

Providing the highest level of hospitality is our number one priority and we apologize for falling short of meeting your expectations. Due to the Covid situation, we take safety very serious and do have limited Housekeeping service in place at the moment to limit contact between our guests and the staff as a safety precaution. It's an odd situation for us all but one that is "better safe than sorry" seeing that we deal with 'thousands" of guests weekly for months at a time. We will certainly speak with our Marina Operator with regard to your note about the Rentals as it should be an easy process. I cannot speak for the Restaurants in town but do know there is a shortage of staffing in the Keys in general. In fact in Key West, many hotels do not even have their Bars & Restaurants open due to the shortage of staff. Many front line workers left the Keys during 2020 as their work decreased and they could not afford to live here any longer. We are sorry you were disappointed but fortunately we have an overwhelming majority of our Guests that have a great time with us and we only wished that had also been your situation. Sincerely, Michael Weber General Manager

We chose Fairfield primarily because it was pet friendly and it looked nice. We loved the property and it’s location in Marathon. We only stayed one night but could have been comfortable staying longer.
Our room was on the first floor across from the ice machine, but it wasn’t too noisy. The room was decorated so modern and light. We loved the decor and the furnishings. The bathroom had a great shower.
The property was waterfront and there was a restaurant right there as well as across the street. There were also water activities, which we were not able to use. There was plenty of grass in which to walk our dog.
Breakfast was sufficient - there were wrapped breakfast sandwiches and the normal things you would have with a continental breakfast. It was more than enough to eat.
I have two suggestions. The pet fee was $75 per night, which was higher than I have ever seen. I understand a fee but that was a bit pricey. We would have stayed longer if that was a per stay fee instead of a per night. The second suggestion was another electrical outlet was needed on the right side of the bed. Fortunately it worked for me and hubby to switch sides. With so many people using CPap machines outlets are needed on both sides of the bed.
All in all it was a great stay and we had a very comfortable night and were quite pleased. Great choice!

On behalf of the entire hotel team, we want to thank you for sharing your experience with us during your recent stay at the Fairfield Inn & Suites Marathon Florida Keys. We are so pleased you enjoyed your time with us and we certainly hope that you will back to see us again very soon! It is always encouraging to hear positive feedback as well as critical feedback as a way of understanding how we can continue to deliver great experiences. Many hotels do not allow Pets due to the deep cleaning required at departure to be sure future Guests that may have allergies do not have hair or dander type issues. There are also those Guests that take very good care of their Pets and very tidy and then there are those not so clean and they leave the room in a mess with really bad odors that take days to get rid of. Obviously, we love to have the caring Pet owners here but have to be mindful of the next Guests and the Housekeeping Team and their Labor to make sure the room is spotless and smelling fresh! Once again, we appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. We also recognize these are unusual times and we thank you for choosing to stay with us.

We had a great 3 day experience in Marathon. We were in the building closest the highway which I understand to be the older recently refurbished building. It seemed like new and would be hard to distinguish from a new buildering. Most importantly my wife who is a clean fresh air snob was overjoyed at the cleanliness and clean air in the rooms and throughout the hotel. Our visit was in Feb '21. There are 2 pools and while they were a tad cold while we were there I can't imagine that being the case too often in the keys. No ridiculous resort/parking fees that another area hotel tried to get by with. Onsite restaurant is great, hammocks, cornhole, lots of open grounds. Great separate fitness building and walkway along the ocean lagoon. We will be back. Thanks.

Hotel was super clean and well-maintained. The staff was friendly and attentive. The pool area is so peaceful and relaxing at any time of the day.
Resort fee provides for $15 per day to be used at the front desk market and also includes two free drinks per day at either the pool area tiki bar or, again, at the front desk.
Breakfast was good, too! It is, understandably, slightly adapted for covid but there are still plenty of options. The breakfast area is spacious and there is also lots of outside seating.
There is a bar/restaurant adjacent to the hotel I would also recommend. There is indoor and outdoor seating on a patio overlooking the water. We happened to be there during happy hour and got in on ($.45) shrimp. There is another restaurant located just across the highway from the hotel but we were unable to try that one during our stay.
The reason for my stay was for leisure but I would highly recommend this property to anyone traveling for both business or pleasure.

After a long day of driving, we arrived in Marathon, Florida, in the evening only to find that because of a snafu, our reservation had been cancelled. Sheena at the front desk worked tirelessly to find us another room at a neighboring hotel after calling every guest who had not arrived to see if they were still arriving. She explained the situation to the front desk at the other hotel, and we received a reduced rate and a waiver of a number of fees. When we returned the next night, we were treated like royalty with a huge, spacious room and a bottle of wine in a bucket of ice awaiting us. The hotel waived additional fees and gave us an incredibly discounted rate on this wonderful room. I cannot praise Sheena enough for her compassion in helping us find a place for the night. She is an extremely lovely young lady who made a nightmarish situation into a pleasant experience. We cannot praise her enough and hope that the Fairfield Marriott realizes what a valuable employee it has in her.
Ayepril, also at the front desk, made us feel very comfortable. She has a very pleasant demeanor.
The next morning, Amy, who was serving breakfast, was very helpful and friendly.
I would highly recommend Fairfield because it completely made a disastrous situation right.

Our guests fly into Key West, Miami, or Fort Lauderdale. All airports are a scenic 1-3 hour drive from the hotel.
Boat slips yes and a ramp right across the street. Parking for a trailer too. Not sure about the cost
Good evening, unfortunately, there are no beaches within walking distance of the property. There are, however, Coco Plum Beach and Sombrero beach that you can drive to.
We do not have a resort fee. We do have a $15/night parking fee.
