The Courtyard Faro Blanco Resort garners high marks for its prime location, perfect for exploring the Keys, and its plethora of amenities, including several pools and on-site dining options. Guests often laud the spacious, well-equipped rooms and the resort's overall cleanliness. The service at the hotel stands out, with staff earning accolades for their exceptional helpfulness and friendliness.
While the inviting atmosphere and live music contribute to a pleasant stay, some visitors have mentioned off-putting odors and suggested improvements in maintenance. Travelers also note that additional fees for the resort and parking could detract from the perceived value.

Detailed Reviews
I typically splurge for a nice resort-type room when I travel solo, both for safety and since I often spend more time in my room on solo trips. However, I planned a last-minute solo trip in March after being vaccinated, so there weren't as many places available. After reading all the reviews on the Courtyard Marathon, I decided to spend 5 of my 8 nights there, even though I was skeptical since I only have used Courtyards in the past on long car rides during family vacations where I'm only staying 1 night to break up a drive.
The service and property are top notch, and I found myself forgetting that I was at a Courtyard. The highlights:
1. $20 resort fee provides a $20 Food and Beverage credit plus beach towel and beach chair lending, free parking, and wifi.
2. My room had a high ceiling, making it feel more spacious. It also had a mini fridge.
3. The infinity pool was a fantastic place to hang out, and even though the hotel was very booked, I only had trouble getting a chair 2 afternoons.
4. The sunsets from the pool deck were spectacular!
5. The food at the pool bar was served on real plates with a real napkin and silverware.
6. Everything was quite clean and tidy.
7. I LOVED the live music by the pool bar most evenings.
And the lowlights:
1. Although I am a Bonvoy Platinum member, they claimed there were no available upgrades, saying they were sold out even though I saw nicer rooms available to book on the app the day I checked in.
2. The drinks at the pool bar are quite pricey, and there is limited top shelf liquor.
3. Due to staffing shortages, the line for breakfast at the lobby Starbucks was often quite long.

Great views of bay, beautiful infinity pool. Not a fan of the cleaning after every third night even if you request it more often. Daily maid service is why I stay in hotels not an Air B&B. Then after three days, no maid service. I call — oh you had to make a reservation. Ugh. Really???? I know the provided answer will be Covid-19, but really it’s not that. Marriott has been pushing “give up daily maid service for points” for years. Other hotel chains under Covid 19 offer reduced daily cleaning (towel service and linen service) or cleaning upon request, etc. Was told reservation was necessary to ensure we were out of the room for cleaning. That’s silly. You can knock on door, call, text, use the make-up-room sign, etc sooooo many ways to do this other than a reservation system for what should be provided anyway. At least give guests option of more frequent cleaning as this is a beach hotel with lots of wet towels, a bit of sand, lots of showering. Etc. Other than than that hotel is by far the best option of its kind in Marathon.
Bc hotel is spacious it’s easy to SD and staff is friendly and nice.

Greetings tabarber99, Thank you for your feedback following your stay at our property. While I am delighted to hear that you loved the great views of the bay and our convenient infinity pool with poolside bar, I am disappointed that your expectations were not met in regards to housekeeping service. During these unprecedented times we are doing our very best to keep both our guests and employees safe. Before the pandemic we were happily servicing rooms daily but during these unusual times we are cutting back on direct contact with guests as much as possible. We are diligently sending out welcome emails before guest arrival to touch on all the new policies in place at the hotel. Our new housekeeping policies are noted here. We also give the guests a welcome letter upon arrival that too notes these policies. We are currently offering housekeeping service per request every 3rd day of a guests stay. We ask the guest to request the service at a specific time as it is policy that the room is vacated before our housekeepers can enter. We also place extra trash bags in the room for guests to leave their dirty linens/trash outside the door for pick up. We gladly will deliver any needed items to the room upon request at any time. While I understand that this can be frustrating, the health and wellness of our guests and staff is priority. I am very pleased to hear that other than this shortcoming you were satisfied with the hotel and our staff. Thank you once again for your valuable feedback. I hope to welcome you back to our Courtyard Marathon in better times, when we can safely deliver on the experience you truly deserve. Warm wishes, Karly G. Front Office Manager

Fantastic vacation resort. The front desk staff (dude with a man-bun) was very accommodating and when ever I seen him away from the desk, out on the property, he would ask how our stay was and if he could help us with anything. I got the feeling he may have been the owner or manager (?) but didn’t catch his name.
The room was very nice and clean. Our room was on the second floor and our patio door wouldn’t lock. We called down, they sent the maintenance man up and since the door latch was wore out, he put a mop handle in the track so we could at least secure the door. It worked and since it was second floor, we didn’t care. It’s what I would have done at home, til I could get a new latch assembly.
My only complaint would be the bar by the pool. One bartender was awesome (taller, thinner guy) & the other (new guy) wasn’t. The newer guy had no clue about the happy hour specials and just told me that the 5/$20 Bud Light bottle special from 3-6 pm was an old one and he had no buckets even. He was just not aware or not wanting to deal with finding out, so he charged me full price for 2 days of our stay, until I confirmed the special with the front desk man & then the other (better) bartender gave me the special on the 3rd day we were there. They don’t give you a receipt to sign either (at the pool bar) and they automatically charge you an 18% gratuity. I did see people tipping with cash and I’m sure they had no idea that they had already tipped 18%, unknowingly. A receipt should be signed at the pool bar to ensure proper billing, at the very least. I was expecting a $150 bill for our pool bar charges and got a $242 charge at the end of our stay. I have no way to dispute anything as I never signed or got a copy of a receipt. The breakfast coffee bar had a signed slip and receipt, the pool bar absolutely should also.
I did see a couple get talked to about having their own plastic water bottles in the pool area. Seemed kind of dick’ish not to let folks bring water when it’s so dang hot out. They don’t allow your own beverages by the pool, so you have to buy their very expensive bar drinks. I think when you pay for a resort, you should be able to bring your own beverages to the pool. Especially when the bar has a limited beverage list and is so expensive.
The marguerite pizza & fish tacos were delicious.
I would highly recommend this resort and I will stay there again. I will be more careful ordering anything thru the bartenders at the pool tho.
Don’t forget to leave $5 a day for the housekeepers. They do a great job at this resort.

This was our 3rd stay at this hotel, and we have enjoyed our previous stays (staff, views and location) which why we keep coming back. We always felt this was a 3 star hotel that felt like a 5 star. Unfortunately that standard fell off significantly this visit. Upon arrival we were informed there was no housekeeping services. This complicated things since we had a 5 night stay. If you requested items (shampoo, coffee, towels , etc) you had to pick it up at the front desk. Housekeeping services are still being advertised on the hotel’s website. During our previous visits my wife and I have enjoyed sitting together outside on our patio to enjoy the views, however only one chair was provided. We brought this to the attention of the front desk and they responded that there was nothing they could do...which was a big disappointment. In the past the front desk had items such as ice cream for the kids and beer for sale which was convenient for a quick snack or beverage, but it was out of stock the entire trip. It seems that covid is now used as an excuse to provide less services. For less services they have the nerve to add a $20 resort fee.
We still enjoyed the views and location, just disappointed the hotel did not live up to the five star standard that we have enjoyed in the past. Hopefully they are not content being a 3 star.

Greetings buckeyetraveler-7, Thank you for your honest feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to review our property. While I am ecstatic to hear that you are a frequent traveler of our hotel, I am highly disappointed that we did not live up to your expectations during your past stay. My sincere apologies that we were not able to deliver housekeeping service during your stay. Unfortunately this amenity is not yet available with the stipulations in place for COVID-19. We are happy to deliver needed items to your room, although there are certain hours of the day when our Guest Service Associates are alone at the desk and may request that a guest retrieve the items so they do not leave the desk unattended. My apologies if this was the case when additional items were requested. I am also saddened to hear that more effort was not put forth in finding you a replacement chair for your patio. This is unacceptable and should have been remedied during your time with us. As for the Market items you have mentioned, unfortunately we are waiting for a replacement freezer so we can continue to offer our guests sweet treats like the ice-cream you have noted. We do continue to stock the Market coolers daily with select beer and wine beverages. My sincere apologies for the less than satisfactory service you received on this last visit. We hope to have the opportunity to host you back at our Courtyard Marathon in the future and deliver on the experience you truly deserve. Warm wishes, Karly G. Front Office Manager

My husband and I stayed at this hotel for two nights while traveling through the Keys. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay. The hotel is quite nice, our room was spacious and clean, and our ground level patio was very nice - with an even nicer view! Access to both pools, outdoor games, and the bar was convenient. The little hidden beach area with hammocks was lovely! One day we rented a kayak from down the road and paddled all around, stopping at the hotel for a snack. Very convenient. The front desk was always very helpful, and room service was quick to bring items we forgot. There was live entertainment at times, and the location was great - next to multiple little bars and restaurants within walking distance. We would return to this nice hotel! Thanks for a great first stay in Marathon Key.

I stayed here for one night from 16-17JAN2020 and was pleasantly surprised by all this property had to offer. The hotel backs up to the Gulf shore and has a lovely little beach with hammocks, a pool, hot tub, bar, and even live music outside when we were there. It's a relatively new property so our room was clean and well-appointed. The free shuttle was great and we enjoyed getting dropped off and picked up at a local restaurant for dinner. I especially appreciated the functioning J1772 car charger on site and was able to quickly get a full charge. As a Bonvoy Titanium, I'm always shocked when a Courtyard property doesn't offer free breakfast...but that's not this property's fault. I had a great time and would definitely stay again!

We arrived shortly after Christmas and stayed through New Years. Our room was fabulous looking directly out on the ocean. Check-in was so easy. Everywhere we turned we ran into happy, smiling people. The grounds are just gorgeous. The hotel has 2 pools. Neither are large, but were very nice with one being an infinity pool overlooking the ocean. Each night you could be in the pool and watch them light a floating fire bowl, and two more stationary fire features all the while listening to live music just behind you. We hardly ran into anyone from the hotel that did not say hello or can I help you, even people pushing laundry carts. We ate most of our meals there and the food was quite good. We found drinks were well made and cost for drinks reasonable. The bartender and pool staff were great. On EVERY occasion I needed something, the hotel associates always exceeded my expectations. Karly handled our previsit stuff, Kaitlan checked us in and helped on other occasions. The assistant manager had to be the hardest working person I have ever seen and the nicest person you could meet. This hotel came across more as an intimate boutique hotel and honestly had more qualities like a Ritz Carlton. It seemed strange to look up and see Courtyard when this is nothing like any Courtyard I have been to. There were great private places one could go and just look out at the ocean. Everyone there, including guests adhered greatly to the Covid policy. No under the nose wearing masks here. Plenty of sanitation stations. It was hard to make that left turn out of the lot. This is certainly a pretty special place.

We had a great experience here from start to finish. The fridge in our room was very small, so we asked for a second fridge and they sent one up to our room within an hour or so. The room was very spacious, much bigger than a normal hotel, and with a nice balcony. We were very impressed with the pool area and the cleanliness of the hot tub. The pool area is a cool spot to hang out and they usually have some island theme songs playing on the speakers. The "beach" area is just a spot with sand, some chairs, and a couple hammocks. They have a bar next to the pool, which offers about five things on the menu as well as overpriced drinks. But we didn't go to Marathon to eat wings at our hotel bar, so that wasn't a huge deal to us. Overall we would recommend this place.

Oooooh, where do I start with this one? Before coming here, my father and I were super excited because we booked the Bayview King Suite as a birthday gift to each other. When we arrived, most hopes of a nice stay were quickly lost. The service here was a rollercoaster, the cleanliness I hope was good, and the night sleep was fine.
Okay, so basically we checked into our room over three hours late because some wedding people had a misunderstanding with how long they were staying for. It turned from one hours, to two, to three. Originally, one staff member blamed it on “short staffing because Marathon is expensive to live in”. It was exhausting and having two different stories on why our room wasn’t ready was not appreciated. We got compensated with free food and drinks for that night at the poolside grill, which was nice.
First category, the service. This was a rollercoaster honestly. At first, they seemed sympathetic and gave us the free food and drinks on top of the twenty five dollar credit given to everyone. Then, they forgot to bring up the sofa bedding. What a polar opposite. The next morning, when we told the new staff again to see if they could refund us anything for waiting so long the previous day, the attitude from the staff was not good at all.
My Rating for this Category: 4/5
Next, the cleanliness. After the little sticker they put in the door as the “seal of cleanliness approval”, you’d hope it would be clean, but we found many suspicious flaws that the room was not clean. First, the coffee machine was dirty. Second, the bathroom floor was still wet with footprints in it, and finally the beds smelled like perfume. Thankfully no bedbugs or other bugs anywhere.
My Rating for this Category: 3/5
Finally is the night sleep. I slept on the sofa bed and it was more than fine for the one night I was sleeping on it. The sofa bed was very sturdy and the sheets for it were comfortable, although they were a bit thin. The room does not go beneath 65F, which feels warm at Courtyards, so plan accordingly!
My Rating for this Category: 4/5
I really find it disappointing that room waiting issues larger than a simple one hour housekeeping wait consistently happen at Courtyards. It almost makes you nervous to stay at one. Thankfully, the view from our room was nice. The hotel needs to improve on cleanliness and service. On a brighter side, the night sleep was good. For this being the top rated hotel in Marathon, my whole family was disappointed.

Check in was fast and staff was friendly. The room was large (two queen with balcony) as was the bathroom. View was amazing, perfect spot for happy hour watching the boats and birds go by. Grounds were well kept. Covid restrictions included wearing a mask inside (staff and guest) many sanitizing stations, and housekeeping will not enter the room during your stay (they do pick-up and drop off any needs).
