Favorite place we stayed on our trip to see Tommy Emmanuel play in Key West (2 night stay). Off the highway a block or so. Large room with King Bed, sofa, recliner, dining table and kitchen. Spotlessly clean. We had room #101 which was perfect with parking right by the door. There's additional parking around the back which is only a few steps as there are only 12 or 16 rooms in the building. Water pressure is good in the shower. The bathroom is very small but adequate. WIFI worked OK. Several eating places close by and very little traffic on the road. The ocean is right across the road. Remote check in was easy at Captain Pip's Marina about 1/2 mile east and there's a dropbox for your keys at the bldg when you leave. At 25-33% of what we would have paid in Key West, it's a great value!

I was there with friends and family for three nights (4 persons) . We have rented the larger unit with two bedrooms. This location is perfect to have a first visit of the keys; it’s almost in the middle of the keys, at one hour drive of Keys West and in town where you will find many restaurants and services. And, the most important, the cost in Marathon is much cheaper if you compare with key West. As I’m not anymore a night bird, I don’t really miss all the night fun we could get in Key West.

Pro:
. Wonderful sunset every night.
. Large and clean apartment with two private balconies.
. Full kitchen with everything you need to cook.
. Well located on a small and quiet street.
. 2 private bedrooms with air conditioning.
. Large pool with chairs.
. Internet was working well for my need (but I’m not a streaming user)

Con:
. Our apartment was at the third floor: with large suitcases, it’s a challenge!
. Air conditioning is really noisy.
. The reception is at ± 1 mile from the site and is open only during business hours. We know it before, but it always nice to have someone in duty in case you need it!

You have at few step a restaurant with a magnificent view on the bridge, musicians. It’s a fun place but… the food is not at great at his view and environment. In fact, the food was quiet deceiving!
But overall we have really enjoyed the place: that the most important!

We booked a two bedroom unit with a pull down bed in the living room and could not have been happier with the room. It was spacious and clean and the location cannot be beat. It overlooks the Seven Mile Bridge and we watched the sunset from our balcony! Sunset Grill is right across the street so we walked over and got on their waiting list (1 hour for a table for 4) and brought their pager back to the room. It worked from inside out unit and we were able to run over and get our table when the pager went off. This was really convenient! The kids used the pool and said it was heated nicely and they enjoyed playing with the pool toys that were provided. Convenient parking right outside our front door. I would definitely stay here again when in Marathon!

There is no reception at this place and after 17.00h you have to collect your key from a key box in front of a container unit which is situated about a mile away from the inn. We got a basic but spacious room with a small kitchen on the second floor. The bathroom was somewhat outdated and quite small but still worked fine for two nights. There was a small balcony at the back side of the rooms which for us was a plus. Both the room and the bathroom could use a modernization. They said it was just renovated but everything still looked a bit old-fashioned and outdated. The couch for example was really out of it’s life cycle. We chose this inn because it’s cheaper than the hotels in Key West and not that far away from there (about one hour drive). Next time we will definitely look for something else, mainly because of the lack of atmosphere and the outdated furniture.

Because of the increasing number of Corona Virus cases in the state of Florida in July, our employers informed us of a mandated a two week at home quarantine if we were to go on our planned vacation to the Florida Keys. As we were unable to take two additional weeks off of work, we decided to postpone our much-anticipated trip to the Keys until the virus has run its course through Florida. When we called Captain Pips at Knights Key Inn to request a refund or a credit towards a future stay, we were told that the Florida Keys were not under any restrictions. Unfortunately, our employers don’t distinguish between Florida and the Florida Keys.
We were also told that since we had booked through a third party (Hotwire), we were not eligible for a refund or a credit. The four other hotels we had book (all through a third party) in the Keys had no problem issuing us a full refund for our stay.
What would it have hurt to issue us a credit for a future stay?

727sand, You booked your trip on June 29, 2020 when the cases were increasing. We unfortunately are unable to offer refunds through third party sites because we already paid our commission on all reservations. So when someone cancels, they receive their money back and we lose the money that was paid on the booking sites. We cannot make exceptions for one person, because if we do, we would have to make exceptions for everyone. We have offered to change your stay to different dates for the future so if you change your mind, the offer still stands! We hope you stay safe and we hope to see you in the future! Thank you, Captain Pips

We booked our room at the last minute and when we arrived, it was more than we expected. The view was nice in that you could see the 7 Mile Bridge. The room was clean and well stocked with dinner ware. They provided two televisions in the rental which was a nice surprised as well as sanitizer on the wall at the door with a reminder to use it. The Sunset Grill is just a block away and they have good food and great drinks. We were going to rent a boat from Captain Pips but there was a small craft advisory so we couldn't do so but will again. The staff at the hotel and the rental facility were wonderful.

We love this hotel. Captain pips has two locations and I’ve stayed at both. I do prefer the other location (marina) more then this one, only because of the location. We like having the boats, kayaks and jets skis right outside. That being said, we loved the staff, environment and our room. Would stay here again if captain pips marina rooms were sold out.

Great experience will definitely stay again. Don't have to deal with a front desk just arrive and input your code, they can still provide someone to help you at any time if needed. Nation famous restaurant within walking distance as well.

Overall this hotel was perfectly fine, and we would stay there again. It’s an older property, but it has been renovated inside. The room was spacious and reasonably clean. It was nice to have a kitchen! We had a great sunset view, and there was a restaurant within walking distance. The kids enjoyed the pool. The area was quiet and felt safe.

Be advised that there is no elevator, so ask for a ground floor room if you have problems with stairs.

Downside was the ice machine was broken.

The location of this place is amazing! For a "value hotel," it has a million dollar view. It was clean and comfortable, and the bathroom seemed newly remodeled. It was also great to have a table and couch to sit at with my son instead of just the beds. There were only two negatives: 1) the air conditioner was pretty loud when it kicked on and off...not horrible, but enough that it was pretty obnoxious at night. 2) this place is managed "by phone," so there is nobody on site to help with things like check in. Just be aware that when you are going to arrive, you'll have to get settled all by phone. Overall, good value and experience.
