Nestled in a serene setting with stunning ocean views, Isla Bella Beach Resort is lauded for its relaxing and luxurious atmosphere, replete with live music and pristine grounds. While many travelers commend the clean, well-appointed rooms with ocean vistas, some have raised concerns about noise and variable cleaning standards.
The resort offers an array of pools and activities, yet a few guests mention limited dining choices and occasional service lapses. Despite praise for the attentive staff, the value proposition is questioned due to steep room rates and additional costs.

Detailed Reviews
We stayed over the New Years holiday and the resort was at full capacity. We are a family of 6, with 4 small children (ages 6,5, and twin 18 month olds) and we stayed for 7 nights, coming down from the Northeast. We booked our room back in March of 2019 and have been following the reviews closely online. Isla Bella is a very special type of resort, the amenities and rooms are amazing (Four Seasons standard). The location is great in terms of views, although the drive down from Miami was long given we have 4 small children. I can confirm that many of the negative reviews seem to be worked out and we did not experience them as others did. Nothing is cheap, but I wouldn't consider this resort a budget/economy place. The staff was amazing, especially Emily the bartender at the Beach Bar, Ben at the Front, Sophia and Asha in the restuarant. Our kids loved the food, they got to make their own pizza which they then loved to eat. The pool was great but be careful on the tile, it gets very slippery. The manager Justin was always around and asking how things were. Our daughter even made friends with his children. In terms of service, this is a laid back resort, so if you are not willing to wait or getting unhappy just say something, the staff are quick to resolve any issue. We brought a stroller/wagon and it came in handy because if you stay in one of the farther rooms it can be a little bit of a walk with the kids. We had a beachfront/walkout 2 bedroom and it was awesome. It was almost as if we rented a shore house but didn't have to cook or bring anything. The one piece of feedback we gave was that there is no laundry service. And for a family with 4 kids, we ended up having to wash clothes in the sink. There is a laundry mat 2 miles up the road, but we had a car service drop us off, so that wasn't an option. The beach area was great too. I had concerns based on previous reviews, but our kids loved it. The resort also has daily activities for the kids to do and you receive a text message everyday telling you what is going on. The pools were very busy during our stay, and there is an option to reserve Pool Pods for $75. We did that and found the price to be worth it. We did not have to worry about having a spot and it comes with waters and a huge fruit plate (I have Disney World pricing in mind, so it was comparable). We were also fortunate enough to have Michelle looking out for us, so if you're lucky enough for her to be on property during your stay, ask for her. Lastly, I would mention the manager Justin again. If you need anything or have any issues he is great and will work quickly to resolve it for you. Isla Bella was truly a great warm get away for our family and we will certainly be back.

Just returned from a 4-night stay at this beautiful resort celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary. We left with only a couple of negatives, the rest is overwhelmingly positive.
The location is superb, whereas there is not a huge amount to see and do on Marathon, the resort itself is wonderfully located with sunrise views from your covered balcony, and sunset views from the bar and restaurant.
The landscaping is incredible, especially when you realize how many palm trees must have been planted to achieve such a lush and tropical feel.
The rooms and common areas both inside and out, are all beautifully decorated, very well appointed and spotless.
The staff all smile and say hello even if you just walk past them in the parking lot, so friendly.
So the 2 negatives? It's more like one and a bit really, as I feel the second is pretty much to be expected. 1.) The covered balconies are lovely, with gorgeous views, but there is zero privacy on them. Now this could possibly be a code issue, I honestly don't know. But I would say that a full height divider, even half the depth of the porch would help give some semblance of privacy. As it is now you can have conversations with guests three balconies away, and see into the neighboring guest room.
2.) The drinks and food at the resort are pricey (told you it was to be expected!). They have a nice happy hour, but that unfortunately didn't include wine! That said, the view, service and ambiance made the prices easier to stomach.

We just left after 5 days at isle Bella. Yes it’s a new beautiful place with comfortable clean rooms and many nice facilities and most amenities. It was during pandemic so we thought perhaps many lacking things were related to downstaffing etc. For example the rooms are only cleaned prior to arrival so if you need garbage taken or extra linens or something you have to ask. Garbage builds up quick in a place on the beach with not much variety of food choices. There is no breakfast on property except the limited items at the marketplace the resort expanded gift shop. There is a fairly limited lunch dinner menu at the restaurant and is pricey!!! Can’t eat there often due to menu boredom and cost. They advertise items at the big pool but only there a limited time and any food has to travel across resort. We never saw anyone eat at the main pool. The small fridge in the rooms was to small to handle only a few drinks. Don’t expect a sandy beach there is lots of sand but the beach area is limited and not used much. We never spoke to a staff member after our check in which was very odd and again wondered if it was COVID related. Lots of large family groups not wearing masks and trying to impress each other took away the comfortable and quite and safe feelings and will keep us away.

Dear RickR727, Thank you for choosing our resort and for providing feedback. Let me clarify a few items as to not confuse future guests. We offer stayover housekeeping service on request only and this is explained at check-in as well as listed on the information sheet we review at check-in and give to you. We are trying to avoid entry into guest rooms as much as possible due to Covid-19 but do have many requests daily that we honor. We offer the same menu at our beach bar and resort pool. Food service at the pool is very popular as we have a bartender and servers. Our beach is also very popular and is lined with chairs for our guests to enjoy. We offer a full breakfast in our Italian Restaurant on Saturday and Sunday, during the week it is in the Marketplace. Lastly, all of our team members wear masks at all times, whether indoors or outdoors. The county only requires wearing a mask indoors so guests do not have to wear outside although we recommend wearing at all times. Thank again for choosing to stay with us.

Our first indication of things to come when we left three messages for a particular person who was to handle the reservation but we never received a call back. We emailed to ask for a detail of the rates, never got a response. Had a group dinner the first night with another family, total of eight of us. One dinner was so late everyone else had to be encouraged to eat before theirs got cold. Twenty minutes after the late dinner arrived, the same dish showed up again?? We waited for another 20-30 minutes for a dessert or another glass of wine. Never came back. I asked to see a manager but told there wasn't one on duty, just a supervisor. So I went to the front desk, again, no manager just a supervisor. Went back the next morning to see a manager who referred me to the restaurant manager. She listened patiently and responded by saying' thank you for sharing your side of the story. I've spoken to your server, who is my best, and he said he returned three times but didn't want to interrupt your conversation.' Bold face lie. Two days later we drove to Key West for the day. Before we left, I went to the room to grab some water for the trip. Our room was being cleaned and I thank her as well as tipped her. After being gone for the best part of the day we returned to find that housekeeping had engaged the deadbolt on the door and left our room unlocked for whole day. I called the front desk to report. Head of housekeeping came to visit and told me that she spoke with our housekeeper and she did that on purpose because our daughter had come by the room and asked her to. I said that would be fine but we don't have a daughter. She immediately turned and left. We checked out a day early and after approving the bill, the card was charged for the last day and had to be refunded. All in all, it is truly a beautiful resort but it's a shame that the price and the quality of service are no where close.

This place is absolutely gorgeous. From the minute you enter the premises you feel like you’re royalty entering paradise. The service is great from the minute you pull up to the main lobby for check in as someone offers you a water bottle or glass of Prosecco. I loved the smell of the main lobby. My husband and I went for our BabyMoon and we picked the perfect place. We made it right on time to catch the Sunset and it was spectacular. We hung out in the beach bar for a while and enjoyed some bites as it got dark they set up tables overlooking the water with fire pits. We loved how comfortable our room and beds were and everyone gets a nice balcony with a view overlooking the ocean with cozy furniture. The architecture of this resort and decor is beautiful... I could live there.
I really liked that they would text me daily updates with their daily activities... the crab race was funny to watch and my husband won Bingo at the pool. There’s a little hidden gem by the family pool with hammocks and a secluded dock super chill and romantic. This place is great for families and couples. The only thing I have to point out is that their food is overpriced with mediocre food, clearly you’re paying for the ambiance of being by the water and yes the setting is gorgeous, but I didn’t love the food for the price and that’s including the pool bar. (With the exception of the Caprese) The Cabañas are very comfortable and it’s great that each section of the hotel has its own private pool. My husband and I can’t wait to go back (only 2 hours away from home) with our baby boy when he’s finally here to join us. We absolutely loved it.

The rooms and resort are nice but overpriced for what is offered on property. Anything other than using a bike was an extra fee. No shuttle was offered as is by other resorts/hotels. The restaurant had a limited menu and when talking to other guests were told it wasn't good so we never used it. The drinks and bar food were OK but again limited and expensive for what we got. One server seemed to be working all the pools. We ate at the Marketplace one morning and it was just warmed up frozen sandwiches. Coffee wasn't anything special either. The staff was difficult to understand and not friendly. There is no discount offered to resort guests which I found funny since another place we stayed offered a 10% discount to the Marketplace on this property. I will say the women who was in charge of the clothings and goods at the Marketplace was friendly and the only staff that ever smiled or greeted anyone which is why my biggest complaint was with the staff. On check in (February 7th), we were basically handed a map with our room circled and told to read the policy on housekeeping and masks and sent on our way. It wasn't welcoming and I don't think I even seen a smile. When we were looking for our room we must have looked lost since some guy did find us a luggage cart but made no offer to help us with our luggage or find our room. We were given no information from anyone about the resort at all. Since we paid the amount of money we did for our 5 nights, I expected more. We have stayed at Sandals resorts (all inclusive) for the same amount and had great service. Actually the Courtyard in Marathon was a way better value and offered more amenities with great service.
Isla Bella is not a luxury resort in anyway except maybe the rooms with a view. The rooms are nice but the service is horrible.

The property itself is beautiful! Even with social distancing measures in place I never had an issue getting a pool chair for my husband and myself. The restaurant on site was great both nights we went. The staff at Il Postino were on point. The beach bar and burger bars were good, but I would recommend going off site for most meals. There are plenty of activities, such as snorkeling and fishing, that take off from the resort at an extra fee, but worth it.
Now, for the misses. While I understand these are strange times, there was absolutely no service to the rooms due to COVID. Instead, we were sent a text daily reminding us of this and told we could be left a bag of new linens at request. For the price of the resort I’m not sure I wanted to do my own housekeeping.
Maybe it is just WiFi on the island, but the tv continuously lagged and rebooted. This was after we had maintenance come fix it on our first day. Not a huge deal, but annoying when trying to unwind after the day.
The front desk staff was hit or miss, and usually a miss. I tried not to call down often, but when I did to ask for towels or to check on a package I had coming, I felt like they were more annoyed with us, or their day, than anything.
One night during our stay the music at the pool outside of our room went all night. When I finally called down at 4am I was basically told, ‘we know - tough luck’. It ended up being fixed the next morning because they couldn’t get a maintenance tech out at night.
We still enjoyed the keys, but the resort didn’t offer the luxury experience they seem to be hinting at.

Dear wrkoala, On behalf of all our team members, thank you for choosing Isla Bella Beach Resort as your luxury destination. We greatly appreciate your valuable feedback and the opportunity to understand what our guests enjoy most about the resort. In regards to housekeeping service we do offer any supplies, linen and towels needed on demand. Our number one goal is the safety and well being of our guests and anyone can request service by simply calling the front desk. We are refraining from entering occupied guest rooms until Covid-19 in Florida starts to see a drop in new cases. The music issue was fixed as soon as we noticed it, thanks for bringing to our attention. Warmest wishes from the beaches of Marathon.

We just returned from a week at the resort and had to say what a wonderful time we had. We were suppose to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary in June in the Bahamas, but due to COVID, that trip was cancelled. We decided to stay stateside and chose Isla Bella to have a belated 20th celebration. Upon arrival the staff in the front lobby were so friendly and even wished us a happy anniversary. Our room was a king suite with a kitchenette and was perfect. The room was so clean and there were even 2 towel swans with rose petals on the bed :) All of the rooms are ocean front with a balcony (which is very uncommon for a resort to have all ocean front rooms). We bought a few groceries to keep in the kitchen for breakfast and lunch. We would have our coffee and pastries on the balcony in the morning, which is such a great way to start the day. We brought our 2 kids with us as a combined anniversary/family vacation. Some very close family friends also stayed at the resort with us the same time. We ate at the restaurant on site the first 2 nights and they were very accommodating to our group of 10. Garth was our waiter both nights and he was fabulous! I dont remember the name of the manager on our first night but she came up to our table at least 3 times to check on us, she was phenomenal too! The pool was great, we never had a hard time finding a chairs. The staff were all so friendly and the resort was exceptionally clean. Due to COVID, the staff were not able to come into the rooms but we called the front desk and towels, bedding or whatever we needed were brought to to the room. We also left our dirty linens and trash out side our door and it was picked up immediately. We usually always stay in all inclusive resorts in mexico, so this was the first time for us to stay at a resort in the States and i have to say were more than impressed. We would highly recommend this resort to everyone. WE LOVED IT!

We stayed 4 nights recently in a standard room with 2 queen beds. It is a lovely property, the rooms are new and mostly very clean and comfortable. We did have some bug issues in our bathroom (a roach) but it is Florida and it can happen. The best reason to come here is the view from every room is great. If you can, get a room as close to the main pool and lobby as you can, the ones further away are a decent walk from everything and closest to US-1 where you can hear cars go by. Each room has a patio or balcony which is nice, but many lack a divider wall between them, only a waist high fence, so hope you like your neighbors as you basically are sitting with them on your balcony.
We didn't eat breakfast or dinner on the property as the prices were on the high side at the main restaurant. We did have pool service food once - the cheeseburger was delivered without any lettuce/tomato/onion, any condiments, or fries/chips. We ate at the beach bar twice, the first time the tostones had a bbq pork on them that was inedible (way too spicy) and the second time we waiting over 1 hour for a pizza. I would recommend skipping the dining unless you need to.
There is a main pool and 4 smaller pools. The smaller ones are identical. All of the pools had lovely, comfortable furniture, but not enough of it. There were never enough chairs available, and often we had to leave our towels and clothes on the ground to just go in the pool. Not sure how this calculation could be so off - they need to add more chairs to each pool area. Now let's talk about the 4 small pools, you actually only have access to 3 of them. 1 of the pools is not accessible unless you pay extra to access it, which we heard was a very high charge. Maybe this is the only way to get chairs??? Keep in mind there is nothing special about this extra pool, there is an unstaffed bar area, but otherwise the same as the others.
The extra charge for the pool seems to be part of a trend for this resort. There is a $30/day resort fee on top of your daily rate, and a $20/day parking fee. So whatever rate you see, add $50 to that per day. Parking fee in the Keys is crazy, as you have to drive to the resort, this really shouldn't be an extra fee.
As I said the resort is very nice, but needs some improvements to the useful services, the dining is expensive and slow, and stop charging extra fees at every turn. We'll probably look elsewhere on our next trip.

Dear JS3PO, Thank you for spending four nights at our resort. We are glad that you enjoyed the resort, pools and amazing views. However, we were disappointed to read about the shortcomings you experienced during your stay. We have shared your feedback with our senior leadership team in an effort to improve. We are also in the process of adding more pool chairs. We are confident that we will deliver the type of experience on your next visit that we have come to be known for. Thanks again for staying with us.

The Isla Bella resort goes to extraordinary lengths to show guests that all surfaces and items are being constantly sanitized and cleaned.
The views were stunning. The full balcony opens right onto the sand with the pool and Tiki bar yards away and beautiful ocean views behind that! The bathroom suite has a large frameless rainfall shower with a deep couples-sized tub.
Il Postino is the resort's main restaurant and it is very good. We sampled apps, shared a few main courses and some desserts too. So tasty! Then we had some food at the Marketplace. Quick snack food but not basic at all! Very Bistro style with a variety of great coffees.
We had a couples massage while we were there and I am so pleasantly surprised at how great everyone was. The nuance of the entire spa was relaxing and inviting.
Then we took a Jet-Ski ride around Marathon. We were guided by great local pros who knew the island front and back.
They have 3 pools available on site, some giant chess boards, ping pong...all the good stuff.
But what makes this resort stand out above all the others is the STAFF!
When Justin, the General Manager, found out that I was proposing at his resort, he inquired if he and the staff could assist in any way. They set us up with a dinner table on the water and everyone was waiting for my signal. Unforgettable!
When we got back to the room...rose petals on the bed and another bottle of champagne...with chocolate covered strawberries!
Do yourself a favor and go there. NOW!

Broadview Heights, Ohio, United States6 contributions4 helpful votesAre the beaches at Isla Bella swimmable?
They can be, but wear water shoes. The coral can be a bit rough on the feet.
You should be able to go early and get chairs. There’s a really large main pool as well. I wouldn’t pay extra for that.
The dolphin research center is really fun. We enjoyed the Turtle Hospital also. It is a different vibe from the research center. Also, the Tarpon fishing nearby is so so fun and different!
