Detailed Reviews
We enjoyed our 4 night stay in this former mansion turned guest house, located 1/2 block away from the heart of Duval Street . Rooms are great, our's had a balcony that overlooked Flemming Street (a one way street, south of Duval, so not too busy). The pool is a nice oasis that offers both shade & sun. The complimentary continental breakfast on the front porch was a perfect way to start our day.
There is also a complimentary happy hour (wine and domestic beer), also held on the front porch in the afternoon. Side note: we had a lot of fun meeting other guests on these porch visits; special shout outs to Dave & Rose (Virginia) and Stan & Anika (Sweden). The location makes it's easy to walk anywhere - however, we did rent a scooter (Sunshine Scooter's are awesome, BTW) and appreciated the free scooter parking across the street. We'll be back!

This nicely appointed B&B is conveniently located just steps from Duval Street and within walking distance to the waterfront and Mallory Square. If you take the Key West Express, it is within walking distance of the port, or if you drive, there are assigned parking places behind the building (for a daily fee which is less than the public lots or street parking). The staff are welcoming and accommodating, specifically Laura and Cassidy! The home is lovingly cared for and period decorated. Our room was bright and key west colors with plenty of room to unpack and spread out. We stayed three nights in room 14 on the first floor, relaxed evenings in the salt water pool steps from our private pool area entrance and enjoyed the daily light breakfast before we set off exploring for the day. They take the COVID-19 precautions seriously for the protection of guests and staff which was greatly appreciated during these unprecedented times. Will be back on my next trip to Key West - feeling like it’s my home away from home.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a detailed review, and even mentioning our safety precautions! One of our favorite outings to suggest is visiting Mallory Square during a sunset- a beautiful daily event that is just a couple blocks from Marrero’s Guest Mansion. Our staff is excellent at suggesting things to do and places to eat, glad they were able to so for you :) Also- we would be *honored* to be your home away from home! Don’t wait too long to visit again!! :) -Management

We took a group trip with seven other couples, some of whom had been to Key West previously. Marrero's has a great location right off of Duval Street and in walking distance to basically everything. We really enjoyed that the pool was open 24 hours and that there were drinks for purchase. I do think, however, that at the price charged you should receive a full breakfast, rather than continental, and better Happy Hour snacks. I would have also liked if they had a computer for guest use for booking excursions rather than having to go through the caretakers and for checking in for return flights.

Thank you for your comments and suggestions! We're glad you and your friends chose to stay with us, and are happy that you enjoyed our convenient location, and the pool and drinks. While we're not able to provide a hot breakfast, we have an expansive continental style fare that garners many compliments on the variety of options, including fresh bagels delivered daily from a local deli, name brand cereal, fruit, French toast, and more! For Happy Hour, we offer free house wine and beer (with upgrade drinks available for a nominal charge) and rotate through a selection of complimentary snacks such as cheese & crackers, peanuts, popcorn, chips & salsa, etc. We do recommend booking excursions through our knowledgeable staff, firstly because of their expertise with local activities/companies, and secondly because they are familiar with promotions which may provide additional savings to our guests. They're also happy to assist with flight check-ins or printing travel documents, but many people do this electronically now, so there isn't a frequent need for this service. Thank you again for taking the time to review us, and providing an opportunity to reply. We hope that you and your friends will be back to visit us soon!! :)

I've stayed here twice now and had a better experience the first time, as the bed was much more comfortable. This time my husband and I stayed in the Cabana room by the pool, and while it is extremely clean and in good condition for the price, we found the bed to be extremely uncomfortable. The location of this hotel and the staff are all very good, and again especially for the price; however, an uncomfortable bed has an impact especially when you are trying to get away and relax on a vacation. We would stay here again but would not get the same Cabana room.

We stayed in this hotel in February and thought it was lovely. The decor is interesting and quirky, and the location is excellent - just minutes walk from the main tourist attractions. Breakfast on the front porch was a welcome extra and they also have a happy hour in the afternoon. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was quite small, but that is to be expected in an old building

This location is about the best you can get in Key West if you want to be close to Duval Street. We were within walking distance to everything except the beaches. The hosts were incredibly friendly and accommodating. They bent over backwards to make sure our needs were met and our questions answered. The house was decorated perfectly for KW and our two queen bed room was very spacious. We loved having access to coffee, tea, and water 24/7. We loved being able to sit on the front porch to enjoy breakfast each morning. Speaking of breakfast, it was OK. Since there are no hot options, it leaves mostly carb-laden, bread/pastry choices. Some cold cuts and cheeses would have been nice options. Also, while I realize this wasn’t a hotel, I think if you’re staying beyond two nights, it would be a nice touch and say a lot about how highly guests are valued if the sheets were changed. It would also be nice if, at the very least, your trash cans were emptied each day and the towels changed out each day without having to ask or indicate with a door sign. I feel this should be an automatic service, especially for the high price of this lovely establishment. The “happy hour” was rudimentary with only basic wine and beer offered. A signature drink would’ve been memorable. Considering all of these things, I would recommend this place to others and stay again, IF its value matched the exorbitant price of the stay. They will have to up their game in the way of service and offerings if I am to pay, in total, approximately $600 per night, again. Location was everything; potential is there.

This trip was our 4th trip to Key West and our 3rd stay at Marrero's B & B. It is in a great location just off Duvall and away from the noise. Nice quiet place to stay with a salt water pool, happy hour and friendly staff. No need for a car if you stay here as most of the attractions are within walking distance. We like it as there are no kids allowed which make for a quiet place to relax, especially at the pool. The only improvement we would like to see is the continental breakfast needs some additional items including a bowl of fresh fruit.

I stayed here in November 2019, drawn in by the fact that it's childfree. We booked their smallest room, Driftwood, and I was in love. It was a sort of bunkbed situation, with a full size bed on the floor and a twin bed on this small loft above it. It was so charming, and I loved climbing up the later and feeling like a kid in a fort. It was nice and dark and cool and I wish I could have this set up in my house.
The pool was open 24 hours, and we spent a good amount of time in it. It's small, but clean and fun. I also met some interesting people there, which is kind of what I came for. The breakfast assortment was simple but just what I was looking for, and the woman who I seemed to see the most (Jen? I'm so sorry, it's been 3 months since I saw her, I think her name was Jen.) was a dear. Some other guests were giving her crap about the light from the air conditioning unit (which I thought was cool) and she handled it like a champ.
I did hear this place was haunted, and I am dissapointed there weren't any ghosts. I wandered those halls at like 3 AM looking for a cool ghost. More ghosts please.
If I'm ever back in Key West, I'll definitely be here again.

Isn't it ironic that you chose us for being childfree, then ended up feeling like a kid in a fort - maybe the spirits of the Marrero children who were raised in this house inspired you! They're not always seen, but their presence is often felt. Glad you were able to enjoy the pool and breakfast, and thanks for mentioning Jen's wonderful service! We hope you'll find your way back to Key West and Marrero's Guest Mansion soon. We appreciate your review!

This was our third trip to Marrero's. Check-in was fast and easy and the room was ready. The location is great one half block off Duval Street which makes its location quiet. Cassidy and Laura were very friendly and accommodated any request we had and made suggestions for dining and how to get there. Each room is different, nicely decorated and quiet. The continental breakfast has a variety of items to start your day. They have a happy hour every afternoon. The swimming pool area is at the back of the property with plenty of chairs along with a cooler with beer, water and pop on the honor system. For a quiet relaxing stay Marrero's is the place.

I have been to Key West many times but on this trip, my final destination was Islamorada for a long weekend with family. But I absolutely was not driving from Tampa to the Keys without going the extra (less than) 2 hours to spend a little time in my favorite place. I was by myself and arrived after hours. The innkeepers made sure to leave me an envelope with my room/house keys and detailed instructions about accessing my room and all the amenities of the house. If you book early you can even get lucky enough to purchase a reserved parking spot behind the house. The home itself is huge, has an amazing, relaxing pool area, and is a half block from Duval street and is within walking distance to Mallory Square. As a solo traveler, I would recommend room 16, The Coastal. I wish my stay could have been longer but I think I’ve found my permanent place to stay for future trips. Thank you Marrero’s!

Hi,
The original owner Enriquetta is the friendly spirit that some say greets guests.
Her room was what is currently Rm 7 on the second floor.
None of the rooms are "haunted" but if you want to be away from the ghost-hunting guest action, stay on the 1st floor (rooms 1 - 4) or the cabana (room 12.)
You will find once you arrive, the mansion has welcoming, positive vibes and doesn't feel spooky.
Hope this helps!
That is correct. I think that was the previous owners, from what I read. I did not see any signs or anyone without clothing in the 5 days we were there.
No they don’t. Thank you
We do offer shampoo, body wash, and conditioner in all the bathrooms. The rooms do not have coffee makers, but we offer daily coffee service starting at 8:00am until breakfast ends at 10:00. There are several great coffee shops within a couple blocks, too!
As of June 2015 our pool is no longer clothing optional. Proper attire must be worn at all times.
