Great two queen beds in room with poolside and sundeck view, outstanding hotel and cafe staff, wonderful cafe/bar with extensive menu, excellent housekeeping service. Wonderful amenities - pool, indoor spa, outdoor spa, plenty of places to relax and meet new friends. Convenient location to all activities in Key West and just a short walk to Duval Street. This is THE PLACE TO STAY in Key West.

I made my 5th visit to Island 🌴 House the second week in December. This visit, like the others, was a wonderful experience. The entire property is kept very clean and all of the staff members are attentive to all the guests needs. The food and drinks are top notch and very reasonably priced for a tourist area such as Key West. Island House’s menu has offerings to satisfy everyone’s tastes. The free happy hour from 5-6:30 daily is a nice opportunity to visit with other guests and locals who may have dropped by Island House. The 4 free drinks offered during that time are more than adequate as they are generous pours. I’ve stayed in several different rooms during my five visits and all were comfortable and accommodating. The management and all of the staff are to be commended for the service they provide. It’s so fortunate that the gay community has such a wonderful resort to enjoy!! Willie B.

We had a wonderful time. Booking was easy and when we arrived the guys were able to upgrade us to another room which was awesome of them. The arrival staff was so friendly and warm.
When we got to the room it was pretty small (albeit most likely larger than what we had booked). However, we weren’t too worried about it as we knew we were wouldn’t spend too much time in the room. Room was great quality. Comfortable beds and excellent Aveda bath products. I would like to see a larger selection of in room movies. ;)
The pool was fun as always. Love the free happy hour. The restaurant is excellent as well. Had great food several times. Options are pretty diverse and the staff overall is good out at the bar. I will say Zoltan seemed like he couldn’t be bothered half the time to serve the tables. We repeatedly tried to get his attention during dinner but he was spending more time talking to the other server/bartender. He was at least friendly when he did make his way over.
The amenities were pretty good as well. Two hot tubs were lovely and the steam room was great as well.
Definitely don’t understand how anyone can rate this place poorly and especially ratings saying it smells of mold or “the stench of old men.” The resort is fresh and clean all the time and if anything you can smell how clean they keep the premisis.

For a cracker box of a room at almost $500.00 with taxes a night is not worth the price. The room rates for Island House have skyrocketed by more than doubling from my last stay. Island House is old in more ways than one. The rooms are old and showers definitely need to be deep cleaned or retiled. The guest are mostly older gentlemen. The lounge chairs by the pool and sundeck are old, weathered, stained, (from you can imagine what) super uncomfortable to sit and lay on. I feel that most of the staff during my stay were rude, however there are a couple of bartenders and barbacks that were great.

This was our 2nd visit to Island House. Definitely customer focussed with a warm welcome. A great place to relax in lovely surroundings, whether it be in the pool, sundeck, steam room, sauna, or jacuzzis. The property is well maintained and our room facing the pool was ideal for us with a king-sized bed, ensuite toilet & shower, TV, small fridge, and microwave. Enjoyed the great food. Happy hour (5 pm-6.30 pm) is fun and was an opportunity to meet lots of new people as we chilled in the pool. It would be quite easy to stay in the complex but if you have never visited Key West the complex is within walking distance of Old Town with lots to see and do. We used the Duvall loop once as the bus stops near the hotel and is free. Runs every 40 minutes according to the driver. Its also possible to hire bikes, golf buggies. Overall a great visit.

We (13 of us) just returned from visiting Island House. I want to use this review to update certain things from when we visited last November.
First, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner dispensers in the common showers have all been updated.
Second, the happy hour menu now clearly shows alcohol free options - though probably in the minority and perhaps seldom used, it’s a welcome addition and recognition that not all of us can or do drink.
Third, also in the bathrooms, new shower handles have been installed and there are no more rusted screws.
Fourth, at least in our room the air conditioner was new and worked perfectly. We heard positive AC reviews from some of our friends as well.
Our time as Island House was, as always, enjoyable. Lots of friendly people and an opportunity to rest and relax. Thank you to David at the bar for his amazing Strawberry Fields - interestingly, although the menu clearly says there’s mint in the drink, we was the only bartender to actually put it in and muddle it. Levi and Banner were great in the restaurant.
A good time all around, and we’re booked for Thanksgiving.

I stayed here for the first time last week of March, went solo. My initial room was too small (low ceilings), but they were able to change me to a larger room (which I loved) the next day. I did pay the difference which was completely worth it. Great mix of ages and very friendly guys. Food/drinks were great- felt very much like a resort. Staff was EXTREMELY helpful. I think after Covid it will be even better but I still give it a solid A (Sunday pool party wasn't happening but still had a fun time). Excited about next stay here. Loved the complimentary coffee and restaurant being open 24 hours- cocktails were great too.

Great hotel/resort if you don't mind sharing a public bathroom. The place is very clean, the staff is excellent and extremely friendly. The staff gives you a little tour but really you just have to walk around to learn your way around. Their is a big pool and two whirlpools, one being indoors. Rooms are cozy. there is a sundeck next to the pool above the restaurant/bar. The location is a walk from Duvall Street but then you get to soak up the atmosphere and home architecture which is really neat. I loved the crowing roosters on the street in the morning. Fun play room upstairs. What I really love is the 24 restaurant which is really really handy. I was really more of a tourist then a partier but I'd definitely come back. I regretted I didn't stay longer, if only I knew.

My husband and I stayed at the Island House this past week, in part to celebrate 14 years together (10 years married) and in part to just have a stress-free vacation that IS a stress-free vacation. With the updated rooms, Island House has once again reinvented itself without taking away the basic premise... a safe place where ALL men are welcomed. Between the both of us, we've stayed at the Island House quite a few times, sampling various rooms and now we have our new favorite! And like all great secrets, we are keeping the room number to ourselves!
I like that there are plugs, USB and USB-C outlets on both sides of the beds. Speaking of the beds, ours was comfy, soft yet firm... and so comfy that it was hard getting out of bed in the AM! (or even after our disco naps!) The updated air conditioners are efficient and quiet. The ceiling fan/light also has been updated and compliments the air conditioning most effectively, so much so that we turned the fan to its lowest settings quite a few times. Our room had both a small fridge and a microwave. I'm not sure if all rooms at our price point have micros, so check with the desk when making your rezzies. The bathroom has been updated from head to toe and somehow, while keeping the same footprint, the shower seems larger. They've also incorporated a nice feature into the shower that IYKYK.
Front desk, bar staff, wait staff were all top notch and, while I didn't need any directions or suggestions for dinners, etc., I heard other guests getting recommendations. So, if you're at a loss for what to do, see or eat off campus, you're in good hands at the front desk.
While it's almost a given that you won't want or need to leave the resort, I highly recommend renting bikes while you're there. At approximately $20.00 a day, it's a highly affordable way to get over to Duval Street and the surrounding neighborhoods for entertainment, dinner, drinks or shopping.
For those of you who have yet to visit island House, I will say this: your time there will go by quickly. (I think anyone who has stayed at IH will agree with me on that.) Before you know it, you'll be thinking about your next visit!

I have been staying at island House for well over 15 years, and always enjoy the awesome staff and meeting new people and seeing the returning guests.
This stay however, the room was pretty bad. (110). This room backs up to the pool and bar area, when the ac is off, noise from the pool and dining area is really noisy. It is also next to a very noisy ice machine And the door swings out towards the stairwell. I thought I was going to hit several people coming out of the room.
I asked for a different room but I was told nothing was available.
I’m definitely going to be back. I’m taking advantage of the stay 4 nights get 3 free special. But I’m definitely requesting a different room.

call them and ask
you'll be fine, it's a kinda of place where you can do as much or as little as you feel comfortable doing. Enjoy!
guests/day pass range from 18-80, not sure about the invite part but it shouldn't be a problem, especially if they are guests.
they only play music around the pool but at night it's turned down so you can't hear it in the rooms.
Hey Rob! Yes we do! We also have ADA bathrooms in the locker room area too :-)
