Of all Key West hotels and restaurants, The Marquesa Hotel and Café Marquesa is the finest combination of a boutique hotel and casual restaurant Key West has to offer. Conveniently located in the center of the historic district of Old Town Key West, the Marquesa compound, with its two locations across the street from each other, offers three sparkling pools and lush interior gardens. Dinner at Cafe Marquesa will make your stay complete. Time slows down in Key West, while at the same time, you can ramp it up by walking one block to Duval Street where you'll find bars, restaurants and attractions that Key West is known for. The Marquesa is a quiet retreat which awaits those looking for luxury, privacy, excellent food and service.

The Marquesa Hotel garners acclaim for its friendly service and tranquil vibe, set amidst serene gardens, with guests often finding the rooms spotless and the setting peaceful. Its prime location offers easy access to Key West's attractions, yet remains a quiet haven for relaxation.
While the hotel's charming pools and homemade breakfast receive praise, some guests feel the cost does not align with the value received, citing hidden fees and occasional inconsistencies with room cleanliness and servicing.

Hotel's Favourite
This was our second time staying at Marquesa. Both times have been in 414 complex, which is beautiful and newly updated.
Rooms are nicely decorated and have fridges, this one even had microwave, which was great for late night leftovers.
Great location, quick 5-7 min walk to seaport, 3 min to middle of Duvall.
Pool is nice, but kind of small- a little crowded this visit. But people seemed to be very courteous and would remove their towels from chairs when they were done to make room for others.
Beautiful grounds, landscaping, etc. - very well maintained. Nice private parking lot just outside complex, which is $25/day plus taxes, but that is to be expected in this area… just glad parking is available. And we never had trouble getting a spot.
My only complaint— the sound of doors slamming in the morning! We like to sleep in while in vacation, to maybe 9-10am. But around 7am each day the doors opening and closing starts and it’s quite loud/jarring inside the adjoining rooms. The room was otherwise very well insulated from outer sounds and I could only hear people talking in halls, etc if the door was open.

We stayed Sunday Night through Friday and Had a great visit. We were upgraded to a suite #24 by the 2 pools in the garden. We had originally booked a King balcony in the 411 there was lots of road work going on there. A great comfortable king bed large sitting room and porch with chairs and table overlooking the waterfall and pools. Very comfortable once we removed the light bulbs on the porch, very bright at night, quiet mostly but could hear neighboring rooms when they were loud. Coffee was always available by the pool early, the pools were always clean with plenty of towels available. Due to covid we did not have daily room cleaning but they removed the dirty towels and trash and provided as many towels as we needed. We had dinner at the Marquesa Restaurant Sunday night it was outstanding. We also like that onsite parking was included and no additional resort fee.

We stayed the second week of December after rebooking our June trip as a result of the bars being closed in Florida. The Marquesa staff were very helpful and we were able to move our reservation without any penalty. When we arrived we were told we had been upgraded to a king room (we had booked a standard room) and that we could access our room immediately, which was great considering that it was only 1130am. Our room was sunny, spacious and had it's own little porch overlooking the beautiful gardens and pools.
We were told that they were trying to avoid getting the housekeeping staff in every day and asked if we were ok to just let them know if we needed anything or needed the room cleaned. In the end we didn't ask and just asked for more towels and toilet paper. In hindsight, I wish we had asked to have the room cleaned at least once.
It was very peaceful and we had the pool areas to ourselves pretty much the entire time. I really love spending time in the sun by the pool since it is a frozen tundra at home! We were there on an unusually chilly week (highs of around 68F) They mentioned that one of the two pools is heated but when I went to get into it, it definitely didn't feel heated. I just assumed that their version of heated and mine were different. So for the whole week I was getting into freezing cold water without realizing that the pool heater had stopped working! Our last day the pool was like bathwater. If it doesn't feel warm, SAY SOMETHING! I wish I had!
It is a little disappointing they do not offer breakfast as this would have made it absolutely perfect. Overall the staff were very warm, welcoming and happy to help however they could.
I highly recommend the Marquesa to couples. The gardens are absolutely stunning and the tranquility is second to none. We usually stay at adult only hotels and resorts and this felt as good as that. Will be going back!

My wife and I stayed in room 32 in the 414 newer building.
The room was very clean and on the larger side. Our issue was that in the five days we stayed at the Marquesa out trash was never taken out, the room never cleaned, fresh towels never given. We had to call twice just to get a fresh roll of toilet paper and towels to use our last day. I understand there is a shortage in staffing, but at the fees charged you expect to have better service.
I will say the people at the hotel were extremely nice. However, when asking for a late checkout time, we were told sorry our room was sold out and we were expected to checkout at 11am. We were offered to use the community bathroom at the main building pool area, which we did. I just felt that if our room was never cleaned all week and since we were told only one person was available to clean at our building, maybe they could have tried to schedule our room to be cleaned a bit later before the next family were to check in.
Another area that I felt very uncomfortable was the pool. Neither the 414 building pool or the two small pools at the main building were ever cleaned our entire stay. Since Elsa had passed the pools were overflowing and had a large amount of debris in them. In fact, I uploaded a picture of the yellow water in the main pool area. Sorry, but for the prices of the rooms they have to keep the pool clean. Yellow water with leaves and branches is not an upscale hotel as many of the posts suggest.
I have a hard time understanding all the great reviews after our stay.

This was our 3rd stay at the 414 location and we have stayed in a Balcony Deluxe room each time. We love the large covered porch because coming from Michigan we enjoy being outdoors as much as possible. The room is very tastefully decorated and always feels clean and fresh. The housekeeping staff is top notch and really take pride in their job. All of the staff is very friendly and the grounds and pool area is very well kept. One of our favorite hotels in Key West and we have stayed in many since 2003. Highly recommend coming here!

We stayed at the Marquesa for three nights. Upon arrival, we were greeted by a very friendly gentleman who introduced us to the property, directed us to the covered parking, and showed us to the room. The property is very clean and pleasant, and our second floor room was bright and well appointed, directly overlooking the pool. We were even offered a complimentary glass of wine. Unfortunately, our room didn't have a separate porch or terrace like many of the other rooms, which we would have preferred. We will know better to ask for that on a future stay.
The pool area was very nice, with complimentary ice tea and water during the day, and coffee in the morning. We especially appreciated how early the coffee was made available since we are early risers. The staff kept the refreshments restocked and orderly throughout the day.
The main building is very attractive and historical, however is not put to much use beyond check-in/out. As a suggestion, it would have been nice to offer a wine and beverage hour like many other resorts of this size.
The hotel is in an excellent location that is within walking distance of Duval Street, which is Key West's commercial center. This makes it very easy to go to restaurants and stores.
We would stay here again when we return to Key West.

My 2 high school friends and I just loved it here at the Marquesa Hotel. The staff couldn’t have been any nicer or helpful. The maid even cleaned my white capris I had laid in the bathroom by the sink, trying to soak out a coffee stain. How thoughtful! And we especially liked that there was safe parking right at the Hotel because it’s located close enough to walk everywhere. It was very peaceful out by the 2 pools to lay in the sun or read. Coffee and hot tea was available by the pools in the morning and iced tea and water there in the afternoon. Everything was very clean too. I will definitely stay here again.

My husband and I stayed at the Marquesa upstairs in the main house for FantasyFest. Was our first stay at the Marquesa and we were very impressed. Great location close to everything being one lock off Duval. Super comfy bed, couch, and chair inside the spacious room. Shower had great water pressure. Fridge was a little small but we brought a cooler. Rooms are very quiet and we did not hear anything from outside.
We did lounge by the two pools a few times where there is plenty of sun for those working on a tan. One pool is heated. Nice pool/ patio area with plenty of lounge chairs, towels and also ice machines throughout the property.
We drive to Key West a few times per year for vacation so finding a hotel with parking is a necessity! The Marquesa has a free covered garage lot as well as some spaces out in the open. We brought our bikes and locked them to the provided bike rack in the parking garage .
Food was fantastic at the on-site restaurant Cafe Marquesa. All of the hotel staff were friendly and helpful. We would definitely stay again.

First the positives, the rooms are large, the grounds wonderful, the location great. We had stayed here many years ago and decided to return for a special birthday, "post" covid trip.
The price is in line with a better level boutique hotel. But it doesn't have the amenities or service of the those hotels (including similar ones we have stayed at in Key West). I think at this point in the pandemic we all know that cleaning your room does not spread COVID, so it's disappointing that you have to request new towels, glasses and even the trash be removed. I also don't like the some guest would pile bags of trahs in the hallway just to get rid of it (can't blame them because that was the only option) And the rooms looks worn, almost all our door handles were falling off.
Also it's 90 degrees and 90% humidity and there is no ice water or drinks by the pool. Even the morning coffee, tea service is kind of lacking.
But the worst part about our stay was the the noise. We stayed in the 414 section, and 3 our of 5 days we had other guests blasting either music or sporting events around the pool. At night we had pool parties going on outside our window. And during the day groups (not even sure if they were all guests) partying in the pool area making it un-usable by other guests. I would rethink staying in the the 414 area because you are basically left to fend for yourself since no staff is present on site.

My husband and I stayed at the Marquesa twice before and had a wonderful experience. In Jan we were excited to return and it was a disaster. When we booked the room we spoke of our past stays and how much we loved our room. We requested the same type ( jr suite) The rate of close to $700 per night. We were put in room “6”. It was 1/3 or the size of what we expected. It was dark, dank, and musty.. I was afraid of slipping because the walkway outside the room was continually wet. It as tucked away where no sun could shine on it.
In addition, the room overlooked the street and right outside the windows were air conditioners, and garbage cans from the adjacent restaurant. The first night we were awakened by car noise, and garbage being thrown out. There was also a light inconveniently placed right outside our door. It was completely light in our room at 2:30 am and we had no way of turning it off. From the bed, only one person could see the TV because of the way it was angled. The hair dryer was broken, the makeup mirror light didn’t work. Little things, but at such a steep cost I expect better. We lived out of a suitcase in the cramped room for 1/2 our stay and finally were moved after much time and energy spent complaining to the owner. She insisted she didn’t have records of our previous stays, she can’t read my mind, and room 6 is one of her favorites. What a joke! The experience ruined our vacation.

Ask for the Marquesa 414 which is across the road. They may have ground level suites. I know they have Queen beds, not sure about King however.
No, the hotel does not have a poolside bar. Staff do put out coffee and hot water for tea in the morning. There is a high-end restaurant attached to the hotel, but it is not set up for take-out beverages.
"Fausto's", a Key West grocery store, is a block from the hotel and has wine/beer/soda. There are small refrigerators in the Marquesa rooms.
The oval pool on the south side of the property is heated. The rectangular pool closer to the main house is unheated.
The junior suites have private balconies. Even the ones on the first floor are set-back a bit from the pool area and have railings - so feel private. The "poolside standard" room I reviewed has a shared patio which is literally right outside the room door.
There is a parking lot on the ground floor under the south addition (with junior suites). We walked through it - it was never full. People who fly in don't need a car unless they want to drive to other keys.
There was a large coffee urn w/ cream, sugar etc set up poolside every morning at the 414.
Sorry, I really don't know the answer to that.
Not sure, we did not use the pool when visiting in late January. Check with the hotel
