Nestled in scenic Key Largo, Baker's Cay Resort delights guests with its chic, family-friendly atmosphere and a plethora of amenities, including water sports and pet-friendly options. While the resort's location earns high marks for beauty and convenience, some visitors have reported noise issues in rooms that appear run-down, and have raised concerns about housekeeping inconsistencies.
Although service is generally warm and attentive, the value for money comes under scrutiny, with travelers lamenting high rates coupled with mandatory fees and gratuities that don't always meet expectations.

This is without question one of the most unique resorts in the Upper Florida Keys! It's in a great, scenic location, and for a large resort, and it has a much warmer hospitality feel than similar properties. The staff genuinely cares about creating a positive guest experience. Love the rooms, banquet facilities, layout, amenities, and dining options here. You can tell they really care about pleasing guests. They quickly respond to accommodating your needs. This venue has a unique positive vibe that you can feel throughout the property. Highly recommend!

My family recently traveled to Key Largo and spent 4 days and 3 nights at Baker's Cay. We stayed in a one bedroom beachfront suite it was a corner suite on the 3rd floor. Our view was great. The room had a full table to eat out, coffee area with mini fridge and sink, sleeper sofa, and wrap-around balcony. The bathroom was spacious and featured a huge shower and double vanity sinks. The large king bed in these separate bedroom was so comfortable.
The beach wasn't deep (space from lounge chair to water's edge), but had plenty of space to build castles with the kiddos. There are paddleboards, kayaks, lounge floats, fishing poles, paddle bikes, and small catamaran style boats all included.
The beach bar was great and had a friendly staff. The beachside restaurant was nice and open at 11:00 a.m. I believe this is the only restaurant open at lunch time. There was a waitress coming around asking if you wanted anything to drink or eat. There was a secondary beach that was much quieter and shaded and I didn't see any waitress at this beach area.
The on site restaurant called consuelos was open for breakfast and dinner (we tried it once for each). The food,
service, and décor were all nice. The menu selection was just OK. We also ordered room service for breakfast one morning and that was good as well with average cost and delivery time.
Our room was cleaned daily very consistently around noon which made it very easy to avoid having to rush or delay housekeeping or us.
The lobby and common areas were nicely decorated. A small gift shop was located near check in. A few computers, pool table, books, and a giant scrabble game made for great entertainment when we were in between activities. The hotel also had a few areas that we did not utilize but did see on a regular basis. There was a nice gym area, tons of event space, a small salon area, and a few massage rooms.
Over all this property was great. I would recommend this hotel to families, couples, and groups of any size especially weddings. ( There was one wedding on the last night we were there and it was set up beautifully) I have more pictures on insta

I was on a 2 night stay-cation while my house was being tented for termites. As I live in Key Largo, it is somewhat difficult to select a local hotel. A friend recommended Barker’s Cay Resort. I had only visited the property for meetings while it was under its previous brand. (The hotel underwent a year long renovation and Re-branding after Hurricane Irma).
I arrived around 10:30am and thought I might not be able to check-in. I was greeted warmly and told my room was ready. I was also recognized as a HH gold and told not only would I get free WiFi, but continental breakfast! Nice perks.
The standard room was large and inviting. The bed had regular feather pillows plus a giant lounging pillow. What fun! There was the giant LG flat screen, a sofa, table, stuffed chair and ample work space. The bath has a glass walk in shower and love that they are green conscious with big pump dispensers for shampoo, conditioner and gel.
I spent my free time at the adult (there is also a family pool) pool. The water is heated! Another big perk. There are lush towels and the gal attending the area kept bringing ice water and even a half glass of a rum punch! So fun! And, the hotel WiFi even reaches here, so I was able to download a new book on my iPad while at the pool.
A friend met me for dinner at Dry Rocks, which somewhat has 3 levels, rocking chairs, poofy chairs, stuffed sofas and beach loungers. The menu is upscale Mexican and they have a tequila bar. We sat at the bar and enjoyed our food and margaritas.
The resort is dog friendly and charges a $75 fee once for their stay. Any size is welcome. I boarded my pit bull as she was having a medical procedure and I was missing her. They sent their doggie bag to my room as if she was with me. So thoughtful!
I was sad when I had to check out. This was a true 5 star resort experience in every way. I will definitely recommend my friends visiting Key Largo stay at Baker’s Cay.

Wow! There aren't enough superlatives to describe our stay here! But let me try.
We were warmly greeted by the valet staff person, who also took our luggage to the room.
The common areas were very nice, but the wow factor really kicked in when we walked into our room. It was large, beautifully decorated, and everything looked new. The balcony and view overlooking the beach was probably the best we've experienced in our many stays at beautiful hotels and the world. We were on the 4th floor of the Coconut Wing, which I highly recommend. We could see all the activity on the beach and in the water, including the hotel dock, paddle boards, kayaks, sailboats. We spent at least half of our stay just sitting on the balcony. Incredible!
Note: if you want a quieter location, choose the 4th floor ocean front rooms in the Hammock Wing. You'll have a view of the ocean over the trees, away from the activity. But we definitely prefer the a Coconut Wing.
Dry Rocks is an amazing place for food and drinks. They're mahi mahi bowl is amazing! We had it twice. And the seating is mostly outdoors with views of the water. And creative seating likes swings and rockers.
Breakfast was delicious with outdoor seating with great views of the ocean. Continental breakfast was included for diamond members, and it was well worth paying the small upgrade to get made to order omelettes.
Then there's the private beach! The main beach in front of the Coconut building was the central spot with paddle boards and kayaks included in the resort fee. Also, small sailboats and jet skis for rent. Plenty of chaise lounges along the water.
If you want a more quiet, secluded beach, go to the beach in front of the Hammock Wing. There are many chaise lounges set up along the trees right along the water. Almost like a private beach for just the two of us!
We will definitely be back to our new favorite resort!

For anyone looking to vacation to Key Largo, look no further than Baker's Cay! After just arriving off a red eye flight from the West Coast and driving an hour and a half from Fort Lauderdale, the team at Bakers Cay did everything in their power to ensure a relaxing stay. Everyone was so courteous and always willing to help. As a Diamond member, I received free continental breakfast and a free upgrade to a lower level balcony with an ocean view. I must say that continental breakfast, is the best breakfast I ever had! When I heard continental, I was thinking it would be a bowl of fruit and a plastic box of frosted flakes, but no, this one featured homemade pastries, fresh fruit, and oatmeal with the works! There was so much quality and good food included, I needed a to go box! Fantastic!
The main beach is in its own private cove. The water was nice and calm with no waves and no sign of seaweed. There were plenty of activities to do on the beach such us kayaking and paddleboarding, all of which is included in the resort fee! For those worried about Covid, this hotel required face coverings throughout the grounds and had the highest quality of cleanliness of any other Hilton property I've seen. The property itself is gated and protected at the main entrance so no one can get in without having a room key or reservation. I can not wait to go back to Bakers Cay!Great hotel, great location, great for vacation!

Wonderful resort. Great for families with kids. We spent 4 days here with our granddaughter. The resort fee includes paddle boards, kayaks, and fishing poles. There was rock painting, scavenger hunts and pool activities available as well. Clear kayaks and water tricycle required a fee but not worth the extra money. All personnel on the property were very friendly and helpful especially the ones at the pool, beach and reception.

Great peaceful full service resort for families with small children and pre-teens. 3rd floor hammock wing corner room 335 with extended wrap around balcony. Gulf Water view blocked by trees, but nice & quiet. 4th floor may have some limited view of the water. Calusa Restaurant is wonderful for breakfast and has open air dining with 100% views of the Gulf waters. Top notch staff included Shelby "GT", Jose and Amber at the beach tiki towel hut. Nina at Calusa's for breakfast was extremely friendly and one of the few European staff I had the privilege to meet. Stephanie at the entrance guard shack keeping the locals out was very comforting. Lot's of water activities, including fishing in the morning (rods & bait provided), bikes, snorkeling, paddle boards and kayaks provided as part of resort fee. Beach bar "Dry Docks" good for lunch beach views and evening live music on Friday & sat. nites. Beautiful lobby and appears a great location for beach & venue weddings as there were two the weekend we visited. Beach service rents jet skis and parasail. Jet ski $165/hour, not bad for unguided "on your own" use of PWC. Nice concrete pier and moorings for boats if you plan to visit by water. Gulf waterfront is calm, not greater than 6 feet deep 300 metres out to pier with leeward wind from Ocean. Two pools, one adult & one family located adjacent to each other with waterfalls and large Green Iguanas (look up at the waterfall rocks in the afternoon). Pool bar with food service for lunch. Appreciated free parking and gated key card access. Rooms are very clean and comfortable beds. Housekeeping offered daily. Walk in tiled floor to ceiling shower and large bathroom. Nice exterior balcony with chairs and table. We will be back next year with our jet skis!!!

Baker’s Cay captures your eye from the start with their lush landscaping, tasteful decor, and white sand beach. It truly feels like a Caribbean getaway! The anchored floats in the bay are awesome (aka floating dock play place for my kids or sunbathe spot for adults). There are plenty of included water toys like kayaks and SUP’s to try as you please, while my littles could play with the provided sand toys in the gentle bay water. I really appreciated amenities like towels, chairs, sand toy, floats etc since we flew in from out of state and couldn’t bring it all. Dry Rocks has convenient, delicious lunch options. Highly recommend the taco bowl—trumps chipotle! My family spent many hours at the family pool as well, and I really enjoyed the activities in/out of the water the hotel offered for kid participation—Especially the bubble foam party on the lawn! All the staff we encountered were super friendly and helpful. The room was beautiful, clean, updated, and actually had comfortable pillows and a nice mattress! It also has a very spacious bathroom and large tiled shower. It felt luxurious, airy and we stayed in the coconut wing with an ocean-view balcony and that’s absolutely worth it. We especially liked how the balcony chairs sat and that are room had a couple sitting chairs. Chef’s breakfast buffet makes for a delicious, filling brunch before you head out in the sun. Most of all, I appreciated that this resort could cater and excel as both a family-friendly and adult-entertaining venue. Btw, the pineapple scavenger hunt is not just for the kids! I equally enjoyed exploring the grounds hunting for golden pineapples with my children. We hope to return next spring for a sunny getaway from VA!

On-site restaurant menus are limited and quality of food was marginal at best, certainly not worth the price. Hotel has good location, pool is off water and somewhat remote, elevators very slow, light winds (10 - 12 mph) classifed small craft warning which shut down paddleboard and kayak use. $38 per night resort fee offered very little in return with wind blowing and water activites limited

We were so happy with our stay here! We went with our nine year old and it was a wonderful family friendly place while still having plenty of intimidate quiet adult sanctuaries. There were activities for the our daughter and plenty of other kids to play with all day long. When we wanted some quiet time, we'd just hang out at Dry Rocks, the bar/dining option or nestle ourselves in one of the Hammock Beach areas. There are two beaches, one quiet small area with several hammocks and secluded sitting areas, and a main beach with plenty of seating, gorgeous views, and water fun. Kayaks, paddle boards that were free to use for people staying there. Also jet skis, catamaran, parasailing, and fishing charters available to book. They had free bait and rods from 8-12 everyday to fish with off the pier which was a lot of fun.
The food and drinks were incredible, a little pricey but not anymore then good food anywhere else. You could diner outdoors/indoors, or takeout from the main restaurant Calusa & Dry Rocks the bar/restaurant at the beach. There's also takeout from the Tiki bar and a snack and bar at the pool area.
There's a family pool area and a separate adult pool with a shared hot tub.
Our room was the King jr Suite. The fold out couch for our child was nice, but very comfortable. I wouldn't recommend the pullout couches for sleeping. She ended up putting sheets on the regular couch and sleeping on that with the cushions. Our bed was amazing. Our room was cleaned and sanitized before arriving and cleaned each day if you wanted. Everything was updated and pretty. We had a balcony overlooking the parking lot, but it was still peaceful in the mornings and evenings.
We had a great, relaxing time at this resort and it had everything we needed. We never left except to buy more sunscreen. The staff was exceptional and I think the higher price is well worth it compared to some other places we have stayed that was cheaper.
Oh and as of Feb 2021, the staff were all wearing masks and sanitizing all public areas constantly. Including the tiny beach tables. There are signs to wear masks in indoor public spaces, while walking to your dining table or inside the lobby, or when interacting with staff like at the pool bar or tiki bar. 99% of people adhere'd to this. Some people were even wearing masks while walking around the outdoors areas, but most people did not wear masks while on the beach or outdoor areas. Overall, I felt that the resort was very safe considering you could do everything you wanted to outdoors and the indoors spaces were clean and following guidelines.
We will be back!

Sorry this is late - hammock is closer to the main beach, coconut has a small beach with a small cluster of trees.
Can only comment that when we were there in June the sun was on the Adult pool (which was the only one we used) most of the day.

East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, United States13 contributions6 helpful votesI read in a post that there was a 20% gratuity charge up front. What is this cost? What does this go towards?
I don't recall a 20% upfront. There is a daily resort fee charged to your bill. The restaurants may add gratuity automatically (but I can't remember). Unfortunately, Baker's Cay has gotten extremely expensive vs. local condo rentals that offer the amenities or more.
