Guests have called out W Fort Lauderdale for its less-than-satisfactory value, pointing to high costs that don't always meet expectations. Despite this, its beach service with attentive staff and comfortable amenities earns high marks. Cleanliness generally impresses with a pristine beach and well-kept facilities, although room cleanliness and maintenance fall short for some.
The hotel's beachfront location is a highlight, offering stunning views and easy access to attractions. A lively atmosphere, complete with live DJs, adds to the appeal, though an update is suggested for some areas.

This particular stay was for my BFF's birthday/girl's trip. Upon checking in we had numerous problems with our room (humidity had most things soaking wet inside the room, charging ports by the bed did not work, missing a coffee maker, TV was hung crooked on the wall, missing QR codes for hotel contact/info.....). The smiling housekeeping lady in the hallway helped me contact the front desk and the concierge upgraded us to an oceanfront room and sent my friend balloons, champagne and a sweet note when I told him it was her birthday. When we went down to the pool, the towel attendant Michael heard about our rough start to our morning and hooked us up with a comfy daybed while we ordered frozen drinks. It was so incredibly thoughtful! The Living Room bartender makes the most delicious Espresso Martinis and the valet gentlemen were always quick to help us with our ride and luggage. I have stayed multiple times at this location with my husband and will always stay at the W because they know how to treat you right!

The W Hotel in Fort Lauderdale offers a fantastic blend of luxury, style, and comfort, with an incredible beachfront location that makes it a perfect escape. From the moment we arrived, the hotel’s chic, modern design impressed us, setting the tone for a memorable stay. The standout feature, of course, is the hotel’s prime spot right on the beach. The stretch of sand is pristine, and the turquoise waters are just steps away, making it easy to relax or take part in water activities. The hotel provides excellent service by the beach, with attentive staff ensuring guests are always comfortable.
A special mention goes to Ryan, who went above and beyond to make our stay exceptional. From giving great local recommendations to ensuring all our needs were met with a smile, he truly made a difference. His personalized service added a special touch to our visit, and we felt genuinely cared for.

Liked · After our experiences over the past 3 weeks, we really asked ourselves whether the American concept of service still exists. When we arrived here, we quickly realized - yes, it still exists :-) Starting with check-in and the staff in the pool, spa, concierge, valet and restaurants. All very attentive, polite and helpful. Although the hotel is getting on in years, it was noticeable that they were trying to offer the appropriate standard of cleanliness and care. We went to the steakhouse STEAK 954, which was expensive for Americans, and also very tasty. If you booked breakfast, you could have breakfast à la carte at El Vez (the Mexican restaurant in the hotel) and had $50 (per day) credited to your bill. Breakfast was served until 11 a.m. :-) That's how I imagine a vacation hotel! We also had dinner at El Vez once and I quickly realized why Americans leave the restaurant with bags full of leftovers. We had a pizza by the pool, which was also pretty tasty. We had a Fabulous with a king-size bed with a balcony and sea view. Which looked just like the photos. There was a Nespresso machine (which is a dream for me as a coffee junkie!) and the fluffiest towels ever (it almost looked like they were all new).
Didn't like · The room mentioned above was around 750 euros on average, of which almost 20% was tax and resort fees! If you deduct the $50 credit for breakfast, I still think it's a lot, but compared to the other hotels on our trip this year, it's quite reasonable.

Utterly disappointed with this W. My Bonvoy Platinum Suite Night Awards were not honored but I was offered the opportunity to pay for residential suite. So there were upgrades available for $300/nt but not available as part of the incentive of my being a platinum Bonvoy member. The hotel is in need of another renovation. Public spaces, hallways and rooms have been rode hard and put away Wet. Stained rugs in room, dirty furniture. Furniture on both pool decks worn, dirty and tired. Daybeds that used to be free are either gone or are being charged for PLUS high f&b minimums. In room technology is 10 years old, weak WiFi, small TVs, no speakers, not even an alarm clock. This W has lost its magic. The music is tired. The staff, I mean talent, is apathetic. When I addressed my issues with the front desk, I was credited about 5% of my total stay. I received generic, canned responses from the hotel when I was tasked by Marriott for a review. I used to love this hotel and the W brand but it has lost its way. Never again.

*update do not stay here. Every morning from 5am to 8am they loudly Power Wash the entire pool area, forget about peacefully watching Sunrise!! The balcony also has wide opening in-between the rooms that dogs and small children fit though and Can Go To The Next Balcony!!! The pool kid just pointed to the towels and walked away and the pool server just talked with her friends, we ended up having to walk to the bar to order food/drinks All three times we visited the pool was like this.
Horrible experience so far, the initial room was full of dog hair and the room we've been moved to stinks of bed bug spray. My toddler also snuck into the neighboring balcony!!! We had to coax her back and place the side table in front of the access- to the next balcony on the 11th floor.. food & drinks are mid at best

Very disappointed with THE W . Room was not cleaned on our 1st full day, we had to call several times to get the room cleaned and it was at 4 PM and we need to take showers for our reservations for 6:45. We needed clean towels, which i went out in the hallway and took 2 from the cart.
We even had to go own to the lobby, it wasn’t until Arianna took control and then things got done. She is manager over housekeeping, she was never notified by the front desk about our problem. I want to give a big thank you to her and let The W know she was so pleasant and understanding, you should be very proud of her.
I The night b4 we wanted ice for our kooler , after many attempts we went back done to the lobby only to be told someone would come with the ice, that never happened.
The hotel is also pet friendly so there were two dogs next to us and they were barking up until midnight tonight that we arrived.
Also the beach chair and umbrellas do not start coming out until 9 o’clock then they tell you that if you leave for 20 minutes, they will take the towels off your chair and give the chair to another customer, I said what about if we’re in the water for more than 20 minutes you’re gonna take our stuff off of our chair and give it away their answer was yes that’s the rules. Ridiculous we didn’t even have time to go eat. My husband had to go across the street and place the order and let me know when the food was ready so I could go over there so we wouldn’t lose our chairs.
I would also like to acknowledge Gabriel for sending the balloons and champagne to our room for our birthdays.
Even through i will not return to this facility again I just want them to know that there were two outstanding professionals.

Don’t be fooled by the 5 star rating that this hotel advertises itself as. This hotel is certainly nothing more than a 3 star (and that’s being generous).
Firstly, upon checking in, after waiting probably more than 10 minutes for the elevator to take us up to the room, upon entering the room that was initially assigned to us, there was a strange smell and my husband instantly got a sinus headache and I began sneezing. We reported this to the front desk and they were quite accommodating in putting us in another room. Though we did not get the strange smell as soon as we entered the room, prolonged periods in the room raised our allergies. We woke up every morning with a stuffy nose! The room feels dirty and I believe they clean just on a surface level which is definitely not the standard for a 5 star hotel.
The room was lacking tea bags and sugar and had to be requested each morning. I also did not receive shower caps or vanity kits in the bathroom. Also, I don’t think a 5 star hotel should have shower curtains, especially when there is a lack of thorough cleaning done in the rooms!
There is also a lack of good customer service at this hotel. The employees are not very friendly and generally look unhappy working here. For a hotel that advertises as a 5 star, there should be a certain calibre of persons serving their guests. Mediocre or even poor service should not be encouraged by management.
I do not recommend this hotel to anyone who actually knows what 5 star service and quality hotels are. It might be fine for people who don’t really care but it was truly a disappointment for me!

I only have extremely positive things to say about this hotel. I have stayed in Fort Lauderdale many times, but this was our first visit to the W and it won’t be the last.
Daniel checked us in and he was delightful, efficient, and very welcoming. Guests feel extremely valued here. Nelson carried our bags and he was also very pleasant and friendly.
We reserved a Spectacular room and it truly was spectacular. It was quite large and the wraparound balcony was breathtaking. I liked the soothing blues of the carpet and drapes. We really appreciated the multiple USB ports by the night tables as well as the individual reading lights. All the amenities are very well thought out. The bed was extremely comfortable and the linens were of good quality. The bathroom is divided with the sink in the middle and the shower on one side and WC on the other. This configuration is very practical. The bathroom door is frosted glass, making the room feel more spacious while preserving some privacy.
As if the gorgeous room were not enough, Raoul and Gabriel sent a lovely bottle of Prosecco to celebrate our anniversary. Talk about going above and beyond!
We didn’t use the pools, but they looked great. The beach is beautiful and chairs and umbrella are included in the room rate. Phillip, who sets up the beach chairs, is super friendly and helpful. The bottles of cold water he offered were extremely appreciated!
El Vez: we dined at El Vez once for lunch and twice for breakfast each time the food and service were excellent. The enchiladas suizas are delicious and so are the breakfast burritos. Special thanks to our servers, Patrick and Brian, who made us feel very welcome and as though no request was too much trouble. Both these gentlemen are exceptional!
Overall, the staff at the W were extremely friendly and eager to help. Even employees who didn’t work with us said hello and asked how we were enjoying our stay, creating a wonderful atmosphere.
I sincerely recommend the W Fort Lauderdale and hope to return soon.

My partner talked me into staying at the W despite the reviews. He was convinced it would be good since the W is an upper tier brand in the Marriott family. He travels frequently for work and uses Marriott exclusively. Sadly, I wonder if a less expensive Marriott in the area would have been cleaner.
On an upside, the staff was polite and helpful. Both on site restaurants were very good.
Because of my partners Marriott status, we were upgraded to an apartment style space with a separate bedroom/ bathroom and a living room and full kitchen.
I would not have accepted the upgrade had I known how dirty the sofa was. We had no ice because the freezer side door of the full size refrigerator didn't close completely so it was constantly warm and leaking water on the floor. I told the front desk twice. No remedy.
As for the bedroom. It is a large open space that includes the tub, shower and toilet without any wall separation. If you are alone, that is not a problem. 2 people, that is a problem.
They added a motion detector in the closet to turn on the light. Every time you walk by the closet, even in the middle of the night the motion detector turns on the closet light because the door had louvers in it. You wake up your partner if you have to go to the toilet, not good.
Also, the toilet is behind a frosted glass door. Same issue. If you have to go to the toilet in the middle of the night you end up flooding the bedroom with light. Terrible design.
Attaching photos.
Sad, sad hotel.

I’m a Bonvoy elite members, and always stay at Marriott properties I will say all of the staff was great, especially the bartenders. But I was here many years ago & this hotel looked more high-end then. There is tremendous wear and tear in the rooms/ furniture l and in the common area bathrooms. I paid almost $600 for the night & the room is very disappointing.
Dinner at Steak 954 was ok. I sat at the bar to eat, which was very small, and I honestly felt like I was sitting at a service bar. Definitely not the hotel bar ambience that you would expect in a restaurant.
The 1 bedroom suite corner view was a great view. But the room itself was stark. There was not 1 piece of artwork whatsoever & the room looked bare, I felt like I was in a condo Airbnb vs the W hotel standard. There was not even a full length mirror in the room
Balcony view was nice but the chaise lounge was full of mold. The white couch in the room had stains on it. The carpet had stains as well, the floor tile grout was chipped and dirty. The room had an odor trying to be masked by an air freshener When I took my shoes off the entire tile floor was sticky.!! (Probably from cleaning solution) but still I’ve never ever had that before in any hotel. Not even a low end one
I’m in bed right now and my feet are sticking to each other, and I have to go wash them off. very disappointed at the accommodations, especially for the price that I paid. I will not be returning.
