Kimpton Shorebreak Fort Lauderdale garners praise for its rooftop pool and beachfront location, with the atmosphere described as charming and uniquely retro-modern. While the hotel's staff is often complimented for their friendliness and professionalism, some guests mention service inconsistencies and maintenance issues. Cleanliness generally receives positive remarks, though there are occasional gripes, particularly with the ground floor pool. Room opinions are mixed, showcasing both stylish decor and concerns regarding dampness and soundproofing. Additionally, the value proposition is questioned due to mandatory resort fees for amenities that some travelers do not utilize.

This is a decent, boutique hotel with nice pluses and some things to be aware of.

The rooftop pool has stunning views of the canal, particularly at sunset, and is reason alone to stay. The pool has lots of lounge furniture and umbrellas to hang out all day with good food offerings at the bar. There is a fun DJ pool party on Sun nights.

We also liked the comfortable beds, and the property has a highly rated Italian restaurant. The front desk staff were welcoming and kind.

The hotel itself is a two story renovated mid century Florida motel with outside access doors, and the rooms themselves don't have any special views. Our room simply looked out to the road, and we kept the blinds closed. The rooftop pool is on the adjacent tower building that guests have access to.

The site is in a good location away from the noise, a short 2-3 block walk to the beach, and they have beach chairs available for guests.

What could be better is the housekeeping.
Towel linens are fairly worn and unmatched.
Our room was never serviced, and after reporting the issue it still was not serviced over two days. The GM Alan was very professional, apologetic and graciously made up for the problem in other ways.

Be aware there is a $38 per day plus tax resort fee.

We would stay again mainly based on the excellent rooftop pool

This hotel is so darling! So charming! It has a soul! I have loved every single of my 16 nights, here! The staff are absolutely perfect! The best ever! They always have a smile and a welcome or welcome back greeting for you. The hotel is located 2 blocks from the beach. It is quiet and peaceful. There are patios, lots of plants, which contribute to the relaxing atmosphere. I had a King Premium room on the ground floor of this 2-storey building. When I opened my door, I was greeted by gian ferns and other beautiful plants. My windows looked out to banana plants and other lush vegetation. My bed was very comfortable. And the turquoise blue fridge was a very convenient amenity. They have a pink and blue flamingo theme going throught the hotel. There ponds with more vegetation, too. There are 2 pools. From the rooftop pool/bar, you get a fab view of the waterways.
I highly recommend this hotel!

Great hotel within walking distance of the beach. Very cool hotel that has a very good restaurant. There is a roof terrace with pool, bar and nice view. Golden worth of sunny days. Lovely staff. Very comfortable beds and nice bathrooms. Towels for the rooftop pool and the beach are included in the room as well as yoga on the beach. It came as a surprise that if you book through hotels.com, there is a resort fee of $38 per night per room. Parking is available either for day $25 or hourly $47. Is there parking nearby for cheaper money and also on the street if you have a parking app. 15 minute walk to restaurants and bars. There are ping-pong tables and other leisure activities at the hotel. Bicycles are available for rent.

My friend and I visited Fort Lauderdale in late April and stayed at the Kimpton Shorebreak Beach Resort as it was recommended to us and the price was decent. We found it to be a pleasant experience.

The hotel is a little paradise, and offers almost all the amenities of the big oceanfront luxury hotels, at about half the cost per night. It is located two blocks from the beach, and they have an arrangement with the other hotels to be able to use the beach chairs.

The hotel is spread out over two floors with exterior corridors. I was told the building was once a nursing home, which explains why there are two elevators for a two-story property and why the showers are massive. Though don't worry, the hotel has been thoroughly renovated, and I would not have guessed that it was a nursing home had I had not been told.

The decor is beautiful, modern and there are little touches that make the property feel upscale, including nice scents throughout the hotel and little nooks and courtyards to relax. It overall felt like a boutique hotel, even though it's part of a chain. The rooms are good too, but on the small side, which was fine for us since we were not spending our days at the hotel. The rooms have a small fridge, which was convenient.

The hotel has two outdoor pools, one is on the ground floor next to the restaurant, and the other is an incredible rooftop pool on top of the condo tower next door, which hotel guests can access via a private express elevator. The rooftop pool has a nice bar, and gives nice "vibes." The restaurant has an Italian flare, we ate there one night and found the food to be excellent. The hotel also has a nice gym.

The highlight of this hotel though, and what would make us come back, was the staff. Tashelle was incredible, she really went above and beyond, and you could tell she loved her job. She knew the Fort Lauderdale and Miami areas very well and gave us recommendations on what to do. She also gave us some coupons. Danil, who checked us in the night we arrived, was awesome too.

Now for the things to improve, there are two: Firstly, the pool on the ground floor was dirty the entire time we stayed there. To be fair, it was off season and everyone used the rooftop one, but still, for aesthetics, it would be better for it to look pristine. Also, there were no in-room coffee makers. They do have free coffee and tea in the lobby in the morning, but an upscale hotel should also have that in the room.

Despite the minor criticism, I am still giving this place five stars.

I highly recommend this hotel and will stay there again if I return to Fort Lauderdale.

The purpose of this visit was to determine if this venue exceeds hospitality and tourism industry standards.

The first and most important standard is sanitation. I checked both the men and women’s restrooms. Please note that both exceed minimum requirements for public restrooms in this state.

The second standard is the visible food labels. Thanks for having them in plain English. Normally, I don’t eat sausage links because they are made with pork meat.

Fortunately, this venue offered chicken sausages, which are succulent and delicious.

According to one VIP guest, the pasta bolognese is her favorite and she couldn’t resist getting seconds.

The third standard is a full-service bar. Both bartenders had a basic understanding of how to make popular cocktails.

In addition, there was a signature blue drink that was offered. It is highly recommended that futures guests try it.

The fourth standard is the ambience. The cool and relaxed ambience is quite appealing. Most guests at this event preferred socializing and dining inside the cocktail lounge. For visitors who love drinking their cocktails poolside, it is recommended that they try the outside party area.

Music selection does not apply here.

Check in - that’s why I’ve given 2 dots as it was quick and the room was ready early.

It then went rapidly downhill.

Room - looks ok at a glance but is very basic, no chair, no coffee maker, one robe not two, dirty/tatty beach bag and towels. The floors were dirty, clearly never seen a mop for a while. Room on curb side so unable to open blinds so always dull. The room
Smelt damp and unpleasant, it hit you as you opened the door. Ants crawling on the wall near TV. No daily housekeeping so nothing replenished.

Complained to reception but no action taken or offer to move us etc.. Dreadful customer service.

A/C- units are old and loud, they do not cool the room just area in front of them. No sleep as it was so loud - again told reception this on day 2 but nothing resolved

Pool - the area needs a good clean, same debris around for 2 days in a row. The roof pool was closed for a private party so not able to use on first day, pool downstairs was available but very over crowded - interest is in taking money rather than providing a good guest experience.

Breakfast - $25 credit isn’t enough to get a breakfast with coffee and juice, not as advertised by Expedia and not worth the upgrade. It ends up costing more as they add tax and gratuity to bill. Not a good set up at all.

Resort fee - $38 plus tax for water in room - which we did not get! Sun beds, which there aren’t many, use of another hotel pool, which was so busy you couldn’t move and bike rental for 2 hours - - completely over priced and another revenue stream for things that should be included in room rate, especially wifi,

Overall, disappointed with the attention to detail, cleanliness and lack of action from staff regarding issues with room.

Wouldn’t stay again or recommend Kington.

DO NOT STAY HERE. We stayed six nights at the Kimpton Shorebreak Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort to escape a recent hurricane in the gulf to the west. I do not know if it is common to name a city hotel as a “beach resort”, but this hotel was several blocks from the beach. Our experience went from disappointing to bad during our stay. The hotel smashed our center brake light when parking our car. The repair bill was in excess of $1,500.00. The valet employees actually used glue and packing tape to try to put the taillight fixture back together! It would be almost funny if it was not our property that was damaged. The Kimpton Shorebreak Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort made no effort to resolve the damage they caused, despite our ongoing attempts over the past 4 weeks. Other reasons not to stay, as if you need any others: the room was tiny, view of back of adjacent building 15’ away. Since there are no coffee makers in the rooms, the hotel sets out coffee at 7 am in the lobby area. To get coffee sooner we had to save coffee in our room from the night before (no refrigerators, the rooms are much too small) to drink cold the next morning (no microwaves in the rooms either-much too small). The pool was unserviced even though the Fort Lauderdale area had no effects from the hurricane that passed in the gulf. The exterior hotel drop-off and pick-up area is small and unkempt. The staff was indifferent at best. Kimpton, please do not respond with “we hope you give us another chance” (HA) or worse, “the damage was there when you dropped off the car”. If you have cameras as you stated repeatedly, you could not possibly come any conclusion but that you damaged our vehicle! DO NOT take a chance staying here. Even in an emergency, I would stay drive further and elsewhere because of the damage they caused to our property and their disingenuous (polite for lying) responses. Avoid.

Shorebreak is a boutique hotel located in Ft. Lauderdale Beach approximately 2 blocks from the ocean. The hotel supplies all of your basic needs in a great beachy/retro style. Room was quiet and comfortable. The beds and pillows are delightful! Linens on bed and towels clean and new. There are 2 pools on site, however we did not use them. The hotel provided a beach bag and beach towels. The ocean is about 2-3 blocks away. Shorebreak shares a beach with The Westin Hotel. Beach loungers are included for the resort fee; but an umbrella must be rented if you want one. We had breakfast in their restaurant which was quite good. Bicycles are available to borrow for a few hours. Bikes need better maintenance though.

We spent three nights at this property.
Frankly, nothing wrong.
Everything was perfect.
Located less than five minutes walk from the ocean and in a quiet area.
Far from the noise of bars along the beach.
The reception was pleasant as was all the staff.
We had room 208 located upstairs.
Soundproofing is excellent.
The room, large, bright and beautiful bathroom with a large Italian shower.
Blinds , a beautiful minimalist decoration.
Very good bedding!
Nice turquoise Smeg fridge.
Too bad for the air conditioning which makes quite good noise at night.
An excellent Ă  la carte breakfast and there is choice!

It is a shame that orange juice is not a pressed juice ..in the land of oranges it is sad not to have this proposal especially when we see the quality of breakfast.
From 17:00 to 18:00 a complimentary glass of wine will be offered to the rest Fuga.
A beautiful rooftop pool with stunning views.
I ate a very good potato and octopus salad but the dish was too generous impossible to finish.
We had a cocktail the last night at the bar of the restaurant Fuga.
Very well done and the bartender was really friendly.
Cleanliness is everywhere and excellent.
My only regret is not eating in the evening at the restaurant Italy. Fuga but it will be done next time.
Especially do not forget the two sun loungers at the beach ,two hours of cycling a day,the yoga class at the beach and wifi. All for $38 + resort fee included.
So yes initially this establishment was supposed to be a motel but it was frankly very well redone.
It is true that the first pool in front of the restaurant Fuga would have the merit of being a little better maintained but personally nothing beats the one on the rooftop!
In short we loved our little stay at the Shorebreak hotel and we will definitely come back but this time for a longer stay.
